Richard Codington, DDS

I was referred to Dr Codington by my previous hygienist up in Oceanside. She referred me saying that this office treats their people well and isn’t out to rip anyone off. I found this to be true. I think I’ve been in 3 times now and every time I’ve seen the same people there, so there’s tenure among employees, which is a good sign.
Dr C himself seems nice enough. I haven’t had cavities or any «real» work done… I think we’ve spent all of 20 minutes together in my visits combined, so take that for what it’s worth.
My hygienist is Emily. She’s a sweet girl and I know she means well, but holy crap she was annoying and a bit condescending when she took my X-​rays. Every 5 seconds she was telling me what a «great job!» I was doing — like I was a child. I suppose I could have said something to her, but I’m going the more passive aggressive route and putting it here. Emily: please stahp it!
The lady at the front is very nice — and when I missed an appointment she was really understanding and found me another appointment convenient for me without making me feel (too) guilty.
If you’re looking for a dentist in the RB area, I think you would do well choosing Dr Codington!

I have been a patient of Dr. Codington’s for several years now. In fact, when I was completing my undergraduate degree in Santa Barbara, I always made sure to schedule my dental appointments during my visits home.
I always feel welcome in his office and his staff does everything within their power to ensure my comfort. What I really like about their services are their text and email appointment reminders; very helpful for ensuring that I never miss an appointment.
In conversation, Dr. Codington feels more like a relative. Small talk is pretty underrated these days, and I always appreciate someone who can do their work intelligently while maintaining a dialogue on relative topics, whether they directly relate to me or not.
Convenient location, awesome experiences. Highly recommended!

I’ve been going to Dr. Codington since I was a small child. I’m 31 now and my family has split and moved all over SD county. We still (every one of us) go to Dr. Codington, no matter how far the drive.

This is a total class act! The entire staff is professional, competent, and friendly. He is one of the nicest guys I’ve met. I went in with a problem that had caused me horrible pain for two years. With the proper xray he diagnosed the problem immediately and I am now pain free. What a difference a good dentist can make.

dr. coddington is nice, professional, and knows exactly what he’s doing. he gives sound advice and makes you feel comfortable if you’re afraid of needles (like me!). I highly recommend him and his office staff, who are all willing to help and answer any questions you have about billing, insurance, appointments, etc. the only con I can think of is his personal assistant who helps him during his appointments. I’m not sure if she’s new or not, but the past two times I’ve been to his office, she’s made two mistakes and seemed a bit absentminded when others tried to correct/​teach her.

«As good as it gets» is a perfect way to describe Dr. Codington. I’ve been a patient for over 15 years and when my two boys became teenagers, I moved them from pediatric care to Dr. Codington. He has extensive professional knowledge, stays current with dental treatment technology but as important, he has a terrific, caring, chairside manner. I highly recommend Dr. Codington without hesitation.
