Pricey bike rental that seemed old and worn out. Nice guy helped us, and good location to where we were staying. Not bad but not great either. Cheers!

Sergio was super nice and gave us a great rate — $ 10 for the whole day (2pm pick up, they were closing at 5pm). An extra $ 5 if we kept it til noon the next day. Free lock and helmet, and free basket with Unilocal check-​in.

My best friend and I rented bikes to ride up to La Jolla from Pacific Beach. Got a coupon for $ 10 a day, can’t beat that price! We were about ¾ way to La Jolla when her bike got a flat tire. And not just any flat tire, there was a visible tear and the tube was broken. We had only be riding along roads, no way that type of damage was done from our ride along the way. We called to see if they could bring a spare tire or help us in some way. The guy working just said to «walk back or take the bus.» Granted everyone has smart phones these days but we were still clearly from out of town. He was not apologetic or helpful in any way. He could have at least offered some sort of directions.
We then just walked to La Jolla since that’s what we wanted to see. We then had to take the bus back to the bike shop. Once we got back, he was again not very apologetic and just offered to replace it.
My 2 star rating is because he did at least refund my friend, but not me even tho I obviously couldn’t ride my bike since she had to walk hers. I understand that you sign a waiver that they are not responsible, however it was just upsetting how unhelpful and unsympathetic he was towards us being stranded.

Rented Beach cruisers for labor day weekend! (Rental prices increase for the holidays!) They were friendly and speedy. Only one customer ahead of us. However their store front doesn’t say ray’s rentals just bike rentals (at lease we couldn’t find it!) So we were a little confused as to if this was the right place.
The check in deal worked! Got a free basket for our bags!
My bike started off ok, but a couple miles into our ride, it started to make a metal scraping metal sound for the duration of our ride… a little scary, but people could hear me coming!
If I need to rent a bike again in the pb area, I would go back.

Great prices and super convenient location a block from the beach. Foam board rental (half day) is $ 18 and I rented a rash guard as well for $ 5. During the colder months I rent a wetsuit as well, & it’s $ 10 for the suit if you’re renting a board with it.
They also have a selection of bikes to rent, as well as skateboards and snorkel gear to purchase.

I rented a beach cruiser from Ray’s for 2 days for $ 10/day.They took advance payment with my reservation over the phone, which is fine. The bike was great and they provided me a free lock.
The only downside was that when I returned the bike a full day early (because the guy I was renting from had one) I did not get credit for my 2^nd day. The guy told me «there is no early return fee» — clearly he meant credit, but continued to tell me there was no «early return fee»…
Otherwise this would be a 5* review because other places in the area were charging $ 10/​hour or $ 20/​day. But since I ended up paying $ 20 for my day as well… I couldn’t justify the 5*s.

Ray’s is easy to find on Mission Blvd and within walking distance from many of the condos and vacation rentals. We were able to rent bikes for my family of five, including a tag-​along bike for our five year old. We got a basket and locks too. We had an awesome time riding on the path along the ocean down to Mission Bay. The path is crowded, so the tag-​along bike is perfect for any child who may be unable to easily navigate around people walking, biking and skateboarding. My kids thanked us more than once for the fun time they had on the bikes. Thanks Ray’s!

carlos helped us get 2 beach cruisers to ride around mission bay. Carlos gave us a map and a few directional tips so we were able to enjoy our half day rental and get back in time for dinner. bikes were comfortable, well fitted, and were mechanically sound.

Locals wanting to be tourists for the day. Very impressed. Bikes were in great shape and fairly priced. The soft spoken man who worked there was so helpful and courteous– great service. Will recommend.

Rented bikes for the day from Ray’s — easily the best deal in PB or MB. There was no hour limit, you can take the bikes for the whole day and not feel rushed. Also used the check in deal for locks and baskets. The service was great and the worker was helpful. One big benefit of this place is that there is another location near Baymont park — you can drop off your bike there as well if you don’t plan to make it back to PB. Highly recommend this place and we will be back.

I have been to a lot of bike/​board etc rental shops in San Diego but this is the first place I felt compelled to review! First of all, the shop is super conveniently located near the water and there’s tons of parking around. Secondly, they have great prices for EVERYTHING they sell… and when we brought our bikes back a bit late, they didn’t over charge us for a full hour like the other guys. Also, the staff was super helpful! I assume guy who helped us was the owner, because his name was Ray, though he didn’t mention it and we didn’t ask. He was really nice and took a lot of time helping us get our gear together and giving us the lay of the land… Cool places to bike, eat, drink, shop, see etc etc.
My girlfriend got some cute bracelets and sunglasses. I got some wheel brightz for my new bike at home, and a lock. I was pleasantly surprised that the prices were comparable to chain bike stores and online retailers… And I didn’t have to worry about S&H costs.
I don’t come to San Diego often but I love bike riding and I definitely know where I will be going for all my outdoor rental needs next time I’m here! also, I was walking around and ran into the other location near mission bay and they had paddle boards! They had wet suits too! I will try that next time for sure.

Bring your own lock, and check in on Unilocal for a Free basket rental right now — you’ll make good use of it, even just to carry the lock and a beach bag!
We enjoyed getting around in these for several days and kept them over night at our hotel. It’s a wonderful, convenient way to travel in the area without having to look for parking. Overall, a great deal! Don’t get me wrong — these are definitely rental bikes, so they’re a little rickety, but they’re comparable to other rental bikes in the area and at a wonderful price!
The service was really nice, and the shop was reasonably priced — we even got a paddle ball set for $ 10 while we were in there!
It turns out they rent stand-​up paddle boards, as well — we’ll have to take them up on that, as well, next time!

Rented a 4 person surrey during my visit to SD this past weekend. This wasn’t my first postitve experience at Rays, as I had rented a stand-​up paddle board at their other location earlier this year. The surrey was super clean, new and über fun! It was also very affordable for the amount of fun. You see, I actually never learned how to ride a bike (my punishment is never being able to do bike activities in addition to being the subject of endless ridicule by my friends and family). So you can only imagine how happy/​relieved i was that my fiancée, best friend and I got to cruise around in the surrey! I highly reccomend renting a surrey or bike (not in my case, lol) from rays! Great deal and friendly service.

What a cool place! I knew about their other location, but this one is amazing as well. The staff is friendly and personable. The merchandise is fresh, and its in a great location. I rent bikes and boards from here all the time! Check them out if youre near by ;)
