Specialties
Quantum researches, develops, manufactures and markets carbon monoxide sensors, CO/smoke/heat alarms, CO ventilation controls, catalysts, and detectors. The Company is currently a world leader in carbon monoxide (CO) safety products selling its biotechnology based sensors, alarms, controls and catalysts. Quantum licenses its technology to CO detector manufacturers, and supplies CO sensors and proprietary components to licensed manufacturers. Quantum is also a volume supplier of CO detectors and controls for several niche markets. Quantum supplies over 50% of the CO alarms purchased annually by recreational vehicle manufacturers. Quantum has developed a new improved small, low cost CO sensor which will allow it to capture a larger segment of the rapidly expanding CO alarm markets especially in system CO/smoke and CO/smoke heat. Quantum plans to focus on systems and large buildings where people sleep such as dormitories, hotels, hospitals, apartments and condominiums.
History
Established in 1982.
1982
Quantum Group was founded in 1982. Quantum operated as a forensic consulting and sales rep company during the 1980s investing its profits into carbon monoxide sensors and safety systems.
1987
Quantum entered the carbon monoxide ventilation control market in 1987 using a metal oxide sensor made by Figaro of Japan.
1990
Quantum initially entered the recreational vehicle (RV) CO alarm market in 1990 using its newly developed solid-state biotechnology based sensor, which is monitored with infrared optics.
1993
Quantum expanded into the consumer market in 1993 through a license agreement with First Alert. Quantum made sensors for First Alert exclusively for a time; First Alert marketed various single-station CO alarms to the retail and contractor (new construction) markets.
