Disgusting. I took a former friend here once to donate blood, as he was short on rent for his low-income suite at the residential dump, The Golden West Hotel downtown. He had called earlier to check the requirements for giving blood, and whatever they told him on the phone was no longer correct when he arrived at the office. For whatever reason, they had messed up when telling him what he’d need to do(something about eating or not eating), and he was told that he wouldn’t be able to donate blood after all. The worst part of the whole experience was standing in the waiting room. There were discarded cotton balls, stained with blood, and the wrap bandages, on some of the chairs. Naturally, I didn’t sit down, even on the chairs without used medical supplies on them. Only one other person was in the waiting room. He had long, dirty hair, dirty clothes, and reeked of alcohol. I honestly believe he was homeless. He sat staring at the wall with a spaced-out look in his eyes, vacant. Would you want blood from a company that pays people like that money for their blood? I know I wouldn’t! This place is sick. Don’t give your blood to this organization. They couldn’t pay me enough to stick me with a needle in an unsanitary place like that.
