Primetime Barbershop

My boys love coming here for their haircuts. Tony is great! Just don’t show up without an appointment. They’re good where they get booked up fast.

The beauty of Unilocal and finding a legit men’s barbershop is such an amazing thing!
There are a bunch of salons and barbershops in the area but this one had a combo of good reviews and good/​clear pictures for what I was looking for (just a line up for hair and beard).
Paul was available after just walking in and inquiring how busy they were and after explaining what I needed, he did not hesitate to help me out at that instant. Not many shops are fluent with straight razor touch ups but Paul was exhibiting his skills without fail, and in a timely manner as well. Aside from honing his craft, Paul has a very positive attitude and you can tell just by people entering and leaving the shop saying what’s up or saying small comments.
All in all, very positive experience at this location and I will definitely come back in the near future when visiting.

Been here once before and had to come back and get my hair fixed. First, fun atmosphere with all the barbers talking it up in the shop like it’s their 2^nd home. That’s the atmosphere where you feel comfortable and wanna be it. Tony, the main guy there, very friendly and knows his stuff when it comes to getting your cut and fade right. His barbers know their stuff as well and always follow his lead. This will be my go to spot from now on.

Andy hooked it up with a clean fade right before closing. Awesome customer service. Will definitly return in the future.

If you are a walk in, yah you ate gonna wait. That’s every great barbershop ever. Get an appointment and it goes fast. But as a walk in, it is worth every second you wait. These guys know what they are doing. Plus if when a shop is too busy to sweep, you know that is where you want to be.

Took my boys there 23 April 2016 to get a cut. We signed the sheet and four names were ahead of us. I watched 10 – 12 customers walk in behind us and received service before we did. Apparently there’s a different set of rules for regular customers that the manager failed to explain or they just ignore the manager sign in list. One thing they won’t have to worry about is gaining new customers if they keep this business practice up.

Primetime is a great barbershop, it’s clean with plenty of seating. It’s a nice friendly vice and all the barbers provide excellent customer service!

I’m new to San Diego, only being out here about 10 months, and I was very hesitant to go to a new barber. I’ve been to Primetime Barbershop now pretty much 6 times, and I’ve had both Lee and Tony cut my hair, and I have been impressed every time. The atmosphere is very chill and casual. The barbers all contribute great conversation. I would recommend them to everyone!

I’ve been here many times and probably consider myself a regular. It sustains the most comfortable and enjoyable environment to get a clean cut. Every single barber/​employee is friendly and welcoming and also makes sure that everyone is taken care of perfectly. The place and owned and managed well by Tony and Vic filled with many couches and an endless amount of sports (Chargers) memorabilia. My barber is James P. and the man will take care of your hair like his life depended on it. The dude is very talented and hilarious. Not only he will give you a clean fade and a line up, but also he will guarantee you a laugh with his humorous personality. James is the homie & Primetime Barbershop is the spot!

I heard a lot of good things about Primetime, so in lieu of heading over to my go-​to place on the other end of San Diego, I traveled all of 10 minutes to get here. I came at 10:30 because I didn’t want to wait very long, but their hours on Unilocal are wrong– I cant remember precisely, but I believe they open at 830 on weekdays. Anyway, as soon as I entered, I was welcomed very graciously by Paul– he was really friendly and directed me to one of the couches to wait for another barber, Lee. I think I waited for about 25 minutes, which is not too bad considering I was a walk-​in. From what I hear, they normally have a significant wait, so call ahead and set up an appointment if you need a cut.
The cut didn’t take too long, and it was fine. He nicked me a few times when he put my part in, but for the price and convenience, I would come back here. I’ll probably update this review if I do.

I called after a mishap with my part and explained that i NEEDED it fixed day of. Paul gladly accepted the challenge and made my head look extra snazzy. Now I’ve come back to get something very simple and Paul has done OUTSTANDING. He listens and is very accommodating. A great conversationalist and amazing at what he does. I recommend Paul all the way but don’t forget to call and make an appointment since he’s pretty busy. Laid back environment and a great vibe all around.

This is a great place to get cut. If you’re new to San Diego or looking to change barbers, ask for Paul. Dude is legit. In my humble opinion I think he’s the best to get cut by at this spot. Whatever style you’re looking for just let him know and he’s very receptive, he’ll hook you up.
The barbershop overall has a chill vibe. TVs on the walls, lots of seating, parking and plenty of barbers to choose from. Like I said this is a great spot!

I’ve been going here about 3 years now and it’s time I write up a review. After being dissatisfied with the downgrading service of my previous barbershop, I found these guys on the rebound. I first started walking in and getting any barber (which I had all positive experiences with) until I settled with a go-​to barber.
It’s been like that for years and if for some reason my barber can’t be there when I need a cut, then I’d be comfortable with anyone else. Don’t let the old Vietnamese lady in the corner fool you, I’ve seen some solid fades come out of her chair. ;)
The reason I kept on going back is the atmosphere, the professionalism of the barbers, the cuts and of course the barber shop talk. These guys blew up so if you’re trying to get cleaned up before the weekend, then you gotta plan ahead. Give them a call and see if there’s any openings for the day. Same goes with any barbershop/​salon. Don’t be a fucc boi.

Loved our experience at prime time. It was our first time coming here and James took great care of my son. He finally got the hair cut he’s been wanting but before James no one could get it just right. He also took the time to show him how to style it. We will be coming back.

The majority of a barbershop experience is the vibe you get from the place. Unfortunately, one of the barbers there, Lee, ruined that for me. Mira Mesa is full of other barbershops who know how to treat clients properly. My advice is to go there instead.
Primetime Barbershop is the first barber in my life to ever make me feel uncomfortable and disrespected. I was so pissed off that I wanted to write a 1-​star review immediately. But I decided to wait until I got my haircut. The barber who serviced me, not Lee, was pretty alright and so was the haircut he gave me. Enough to warrant +1 star, but the whole time I was so upset inside I couldn’t even enjoy the experience of getting a haircut.
Walking in for the first time, it’s really unclear how they take walk-​ins. Three people who walked in after me got serviced before me. One of them was an appointment, which is understandable, but two of them were obviously walk-​ins. I asked about how they take people, and one of the barbers admitted their system was pretty ambiguous, the barbers can just «tell by the faces whether people are expecting» and that some people have appointments, he said people usually ask specific barbers how many people they have waiting, and each barber has their own line.
So I went up to one of the barbers who serviced one of the walk-​ins who came after me and asked if he had anyone waiting after his current customer. He said I’d be next and I mentioned that three people who walked in after me got serviced before me. Then a barber from across the place, Lee, started lecturing me on how the appointment system works. I don’t understand why his tone was so condescending and disrespectful. Maybe he felt like he had to defend the place because I complained about the disorganization. But Lee was really rude and interrupted my conversation with my barber. 1) It wasn’t his conversation and 2) if you’re going to talk to a first-​time customer in a service-​based business, it’s probably not a good idea to be disrespectful.
I realize I probably should’ve asked how the organization of walk-​ins worked right when I walked in instead of being shy and waiting. But that’s no excuse for a barber, in this case, Lee, to disrespect a customer in front of a barbershop full of customers.

Diverse barbers different backgrounds. Average wait time, prime location. Plenty of seating. Clean. Always plays funny videos or sports on the tv. Keeps a friendly vibe and great prices for hair cuts.
Been going here for 2 years now and I enjoy getting my haircut because it feels like family here and I end up looking fresh at the end of it!
Only complaint is some barbers tend to come and go and new barbers will appear, but it’s part of the business. Can’t settle till you’re happy with where you work!

This is my new favorite barbershop! Every workers are nice and actually the first haircut place where they all speak English. Hahaha. Usually go to those Asian barbers and all they do is speak in different language and actually talking crap about you.
This is my second time getting my cut over here And always deliver the best haircut!

Best barbershop in Mira Mesa that’s for sure! Been getting cut here for 2 years now, ever since they opened actually and have not been disappointed once!
Tony is my go-​to guy and does an excellent job, but I wouldn’t hesitate getting a cut from anyone else in that shop. They’re all good!
They’ve got TV’s all around the shop and usually have some music playing. Atmosphere is always chill and they’re all nice guys! especially Tony!
