i needed to see a cardiologist for an irregular q wave and potential block. my one star is for the front desk receptionist, michelle. she has the personality of a flea — a dead one. the first time i visited the office for my inital consult, i found her coldly going through the routine of checking me in. no hello’s, no how are ya’s… NOTHING. then, i sat for over ½ hour waiting… waiting… waiting… till finally i got up to say something. wouldn’t it have been nice to have the gal say: sorry you have to wait… the doc is running behind … and/​or would you like some water… start some chit chat to make my wait better and have me become a little fonder of YOU? dr. pitt is a very, very nice man. i ended up telling him about the ‘coldness and inattentiveness’ of the front desk gal… today i came back in for some testing. when i came through the door, i heard a ‘hello’ from michelle WHO DIDN’T EVEN TAKE TIME TO TURN AROUND AND SEE WHO SHE WAS WHISPERING HELLO TO!!! SHE HAD HER BACK TO ME!!! again, i waited for about 10 minutes without any interaction from her. even the way she answered the phone was so rote– as if she had to repeat a script over and over and over again. sorry, dr. pitt– but you had a chance to change my opinion. the old adage «you don’t have a second chance to make a first impression» applies here. the temperature of an entire office is based on one’s immediate feeling when entering an office, a mall, a grocery store… anywhere. you missed the beat on this one.

The doctor himself is okay, but I have experienced better. I wasn’t too impressed which is weird because I heard glowing comments about this doctor. I saw him for a bevy of heart problems (skipped beats erratic heart rhythm, feeling faint at times, chest pain and tachacardia). After a series of tests which showed nothing more than my heart skips beats 500 times in a 24 hour period (that was on a good day I feel). The doctor said it’s when it gets into the 1,000 range that is the time to worry.
So Dr. Pitt thought that an anti-​anxiety medication would help calm down my heart. He was right about that. I was only taking a half of Ativan every day and now I’m up to a whole pill once a night before I go to sleep.
I tried to get a refill this week (and I’ve gotten a good 4 refills since February). So I was wondering why he wasn’t refilling my medication. I called it in last week and I only had three pills left now. I thought maybe it’s been past a year since I’ve seen him. Nope, last time I saw him was in February and it’s only December. So I called the office and the secretary said he released me as a patient and it’s up to my primary doctor to take care of my medication needs. Well that is just great, my primary doctor is at the Chase Ave Clinic and they don’t prescribe anti-​anxiety pills.
So basically I’m out of luck here with it being around the holidays. I can’t get in to see any doctor and I don’t have insurance to see a doctor too. I can only go to the Chase Clinic with my CMS. So I would have to pay to see a doctor.
When I stop taking my Ativan my heart goes haywire and it really scares me. I thought I was having a heart attack the last time I stopped and had horrible chest pain and my heart was speeding up and skipping and I couldn’t sleep at all.
I just don’t understand why Dr. Pitt could not see me and prescribe it again for me since I really need this medication. I’m so disappointed that I will never go back.
