Petland Grooming

Since the move I’ve been less than thrilled with my boys haircuts. We like the top pretty short because it grows so quickly and he gets extra itchy and uncomfortable when it’s too long. Not to mention the horrible heat we’ve had lately. The last few times we’ve been told that he’s as short as she can go despite the fact that he’s been shorter before, here and with other groomers.
We needed to get him groomed before an upcoming surgery and Mari couldn’t fit us in so we took him to his old groomer. That’s when I realized that he hadn’t been getting as good of a cut as I thought. When she was just down the street I could let the noticeable clipper marks go since they faded in just a few days. And his schnauzer bumps were fewer with Mari and he liked her. So we went kept going back.
The pick up is always the same. He lays quietly in the kennel until he sees me. Then he loses it. He’s happy crying and just wants to get to me. It’s been this way for the nearly 2 years we’ve been coming here. So it’s troubling when I’m asked to go pay before getting him and he’s already seen me and totally freaking out. The last time I went was no different except she had another woman helping her. This woman got him ready for me to take him home and we were headed out the door. As soon as we reached the busy parking lot the leash snapped off of his collar and he started to take off. Luckily he was in an obedient mood because he stopped just as soon as I told him too. I grabbed him to put the leash back on and saw that the leash had been clipped onto the fastener holding his name tag on, not the d ring on the collar, that was put on inside out. One of the tags on his collar flew off as he broke away and is sadly gone for good. I went back in to see if they had it in there and was pretty well brushed off by both the assistant and Mari and told that he was squirming so it was hard to get his leash on. No, it was hard to get his leash on because the collar was carelessly put on wrong.
When I bring him in I have a reasonable expectation that he will be safe in their care. Sadly I don’t feel that he will be safe and decided not to bring him back.

Been taking my dog here for over a year, love this place. It’s affordable, Mari does a great job, and I always feel like I’m leaving my dog in good hands (since I’m a paranoid dog mom). No better feeling for me than trusting someone with my dog.

I have been looking for a great groomer in the Clairemont area and thanks to Groupon I have finally found one. I purchased a Groupon for a grooming at Petland and I must admit I was nervous at first, but upon walking in with my shih tzu I was very pleased with the facility and the friendly greeting given by Dawn. It was very busy as many people were dropping their dogs off but I took that as a good indication of their services. Dawn knew many of the dogs by name and was very dog friendly. Dawn was extremely friendly and helpful, not to mention she did an amazing job grooming my shih tzu. The grooming included everything one would at a great price. My shih tzu was given a puppy cut with a teddy bear head and I could not be happier with how it turned out. Not to mention she also came out with a big pink bow which was perfect. I will definitely be going back to Dawn for my next dog grooming.

Best customer service and they are outstanding in the way they handle my dog He can be squirmy! They are always pleasant and I want to highly recommend them for your grooming and nail clipping! It’s a tough job and they deserve to be highlighted. Go here and not the big chain stores. Here you get loving care!

I walked in with my dog and was not even greeted. I was just handed paperwork and told I was mis-​quoted on the phone. She didn’t greet the dog and hen when we talked about what type of grooming she still hadn’t greeted our pup. She took our pup and immediately shoved her in a cage. I asked how long she would have her and she said all day. I asked why and she said because I’m the only one here. I asked if she would remain in the cage all day and she said yes. I took my dog and left. Horrible experience.

Had been looking for a groomer for our Maine Coon as we like to have him shaved in a Lion’s cut for the summer (Better for the both of us). He was a rescue and was a little sketchy when it came to being picked up and having his nails done. I started taking him to Dawn about 3 years ago and couldn’t believe how great she is with him. Naughty (short for Nautilus) love his Dawn. He lets her do anything to him. He lays still for his nail trim and he always comes back home looking fabulous for the summer ! I highly recommend Dawn and Mari for all your grooming needs. They are PAWsitively amazing with animals.

I’ve been bringing my dogs to Petland Grooming for years. Dawn and Mari have a special rapport with animals and it shows on the faces of my well groomed dogs after each visit. One of my dogs is a rescued mutt who resembles a Jack Russell when Dawn gets done with her. (per my request). I recommend this shop to all lovers of 4 legged creatures, large and small!

Love this place. I have been taking my dog for years and he always looks so cute and smells so nice when I pick him up. I am a big fan! Thank you Petland Grooming!
