With over 7000 successful «showroom quality» installations since 2006, we have learned that not every garage floor is the same. We utilize our vast experience to customize and select the correct combination of floor coating materials to ensure your floor will surpass your expectations both at completion, but many years down the road.

All of our floors are either shotblasted or diamond grinded using «dustless» HEPA vacuum technology, plus they receive a moisture barrier (on EVERY floor that we do). Plus, because the SpartaFlex material is so advanced, we are able to offer the most comprehensive and complete warranty in the industry. History

Established in 2006.

In 2006, Perkins Custom Coatings added a new line of business to their successful painting operation. «I had several lousy experiences with epoxy just like thousands of other homeowners» says Paul F, the owner of Perkins. «I wanted to sell a coating product that outperformed epoxy so my customers would not have the same bad experiences I did», «We got lucky» says Paul «when we became the primary dealer for SpartaFlex in 2006, a 100% solids polyaspartic coating» that far exceeds epoxy for durability, scratch and stain resistance, UV stability and slip resistance.

Perkins is now one of the largest floor coating installation companies in southern California, installing over 800 floors every year. «Since 2006, we have installed over 7000 floors» says owner Paul F. «Most of my competitors from 2006 are long gone and my current competition is new to the market and they don’t have the experience we do.»

Paul came out to give me a quote. Very honest! He told me that I needed to first correct the water drainage problem in my back yard. He said that staining my garage floor would be a better option than using Sparta flex. He told me that my problem is correctable, but it could take up to a year or even 2 years to dry out the foundation. Again, I appreciate the honesty! Thanks Paul. I will use these guys eventually!

We had our garage coated during the recent rain storms. I was skeptical, but Paul assured me that the crew would be able to handle the conditions and we would get the quality job that we expected. The guys arrived right on schedule and did a beautiful job. They were professional and worked hard to make sure we were pleased. Paul came back twice to inspect the work and insure that we had no questions. We’re very pleased with the work and the lack of maintenance required.

Very frustrated. Do not schedule with these people if you want them to keep their originally scheduled appointment!
Scheduled my installation on October 23 for an install date of December 9. I was very specific with my timeline (the reason why I wanted to make sure my appointment was on their books) and I was told by Paul (the owner) the install would take 1 day and would cure 70% by the end of the day. We closed escrow 12/8, I had repeatedly told Paul my schedule is very tight and we will be moving in on ¹²⁄₁₁. I told Paul I would like the install on 12/9, but he didn’t want to schedule for that day, even when I told him I will be there all day waiting for deliveries. He said I had «too many people» coming. I tried explaining that no one would be in the garage. He had his own agenda and I should have taken that as a hint to find a different company to work with.
He told my husband the work would start on ¹²⁄₉ and finish on ¹²⁄₁₀. That would have still been acceptable, however, Here we are on 12/10, no one came by on the 9^th, so we called Paul. My husband texted Paul a photo of the invoice Paul wrote up with the install dates of ¹²⁄₉ and ¹²⁄₁₀. Apparently it seems that our install was pushed aside and now we are a day behind and I told Paul the movers are literally pulling up a truck filled with our belongings at 8am when his staff is scheduled to arrive to finish the floor. He has now told me the process is actually two days– it needs time to dry overnight before the second step of the application and you cannot walk on the floor for 4 hours after they are finished. Aarrgh! Not what I was told!!! Now the workers will be in the garage with the movers?!? How is that better than the day that I originally wanted??? And he had the gall to lecture about not putting anything on the floors?! Gee Paul, if we went with the date I was originally trying to schedule, these things would not be an issue!
I am frustrated that the process is longer than the one day that he originally quoted (he said since it’s a brand new home, there is little prep work to be done) and now he’s a day late and not even trying to make it right. I believe he’s trying to fit in as many jobs as possible even if it means going back on his originally scheduled commitments.
It seems that instead of managing client expectations, he over promises and under delivers!

Have to agree with all the positive reviews. I knew nothing about garage floor coatings but decided to take the plunge and choose Spartaflex over epoxy after checking many reviews on the internet. The owner Paul came out to give an estimate, he spent about an hour explaining the process in detail, brought samples and literature. He recommended saw-cuts in the concrete below the new coating to avoid cracking and laying a moisture barrier as we have an older home. As soon as I accepted his estimate the work was scheduled for a few weeks ahead. The saw cuts are done by another company a few days before the floor coating is laid — Carlos from C & L arrived exactly on time, did the work quickly and efficiently and was a great guy too! Three days later Juan and Raoul arrived exactly at 8.00 am and during the first day completed all the prep work and laid the moisture barrier. They also carried the washer and dryer out to the side yard for me. The following day the final coating was applied and the result was fantastic. The two young men did a beautiful job, left no mess and were friendly and courteous. I was amazed to get a call several days later from Mike from the company who then returned (on Sunday!) to carry the washer and dryer back in place. A terrific product and great service — everyone I met was a real pleasure to deal with.

Perkins is definitely not the cheapest for garage floors but you do get what you pay for; the stellar customer service & top notch product. There is a reason the builder of our community chose Perkins as the preferred garage floor coating sub. We missed the «builder option» boat so we contacted Perkins directly.
Paul, the owner, helped us with our project from beginning to end. The project itself was a very simple one; a two car garage in what was an almost brand new home. The challenge was the scheduling/timing of the work to coincide with a number of variables; mainly a floating close of escrow date while working around three other contractors. To make a long story short, Paul and the Perkins team handled all of the challenges in stride and got the job done even though there were scheduling challenges due to our close of escrow being delayed a few days.
The floor comes with an industry leading 15-yr warranty and it is apparent the coating will last at least the duration of that period and beyond once we saw and felt the quality of the finished product. I’ll spare the details of why the Spartaflex product is superior to other options since that can easily be found on the www but I’ll say that Perkins came highly recommended to us and we certainly do not have any reservations passing on that same recommendation to anyone else who inquires.

The process with Perkins went smooth from beginning to end. They were nice enough to schedule a Saturday consultation because we were not available over the weekdays. They brought high-end samples and proved to us how Spartaflex was much more durable than epoxy by taking their keys and scraping the samples HARD. We chose the color, they gave us a quote, and we signed the contract on the spot. We agreed on an installation date which was also written on the contract so I’m not sure where the confusion was with one of the other reviewers. We also received a courtesy call the week prior to confirm the date.
The day of the installation was good. They arrived 10 min late (I gave them slack since it was brutal traffic time at 8am) and started work right away. They finished by about 3pm and told me that we could walk on it the next say and drive on it the day after. I was a little confused because I read, and it was written on the contract, that you could walk on it after it dries (2 hrs) and drive on it after 24. It was fine though because I played it safe and didn’t drive or put heavy stuff on the floors until 2 days after.
I can guarantee you that they are not the cheapest but they were not nearly as expensive as we though they would have been. We have a 20×20′ 2-car garage with little oil stains/cosmetic issue and wanted the stem walls done as well which turned out to be well under $ 2000. The end result… my husband and I are EXTREMELY happy with the end result and are very glad we didn’t go the epoxy route. While it might be slightly more affordable, I can definitely tell the difference between the 2 coatings. I don’t see the chances of fading or peeling very high from the Spartaflex. The smell is VERY strong when they’re done and takes a few days to calm down but it does eventually go away.
I would definitely recommend Spartaflex from Perkins. I really cannot stress what a difference it makes and the quality is absolutely obvious. Thank you!

We had used another company to install the granite look epoxy floors in our garage. Within six months, they started to bubble and over 2 years it was a mess. We then found out about Perkins and hired them to replace and re-coat. They’re process included an undercoating that sealed out any moisture from the concrete slab. It has been over two years since Perkins re-did our floors and they are as beautiful today as the day they were done. Nothing but good things to say about this company and we will no doubt use them if we ever move to a new home.

I went with Perkins not because they were the cheapest, on the contrary theirs was
one of the higher bids I received. I went with them because I felt the job would be done correctly and professionally, I was right. As someone that spends many hours each week in his garage I am pleased and feel it was money well spent.
I had one little issue with the job after they finished it. The expansion joint they filled settled and would be a problem las it was low and would fill with water and debris. They showed to redo the expansion joint between driveway and garage slab and I could not be happier with there excellent job. I was afraid that they were just going to fill in the low spots, as I’m sure most companies might do. I explained to them that removing and just refilling the joint would result in the same issue as before. The job they did was outstanding and the joint was filled properly and did not settle.
I love my garage floor and get so many compliments on it, people notice beautiful things and this floor is a thing of beauty.

If I could, I would give zero stars. I made my appointment two and a half weeks before I wanted an estimate on Spartaflex installation in my new house. After multiple messages left on Paul’s voicemail, he finally returned our call.
Fast forward to two and a half weeks later… We called to confirm bid & installation appointment and they had the wrong dates. Paul was so rude on the phone and practically blamed us for allegedly telling him the wrong dates. Definitely not going to use this company’s services after the experiences we have had with them!

We are so in love with our flooring ! And very happy with the workmanship. Paul came out gave presentation, measured & presented lots of samples to chose from as well gave as a straight forward quote. It came ion right around what we expected — as we have a pretty good size garage we knew it wouldn’t be cheap. We also went with the more expensive gold chips so that added another $ 500. That all being said the end result looks gorgeous. We liked it so much that we then decided to go ahead & move forward immediately with putting the cabinets in we had talked about & now the garage looks like an extension of our home. We love going out there!
The only issue was when we moved stuff back into the garage we scratched the floor w/a wheel from our fridge. (Even tho we waited an xtra day top let it completely dry.) We were so upset! I called Paul & within 2 – 3 days he sent someone out to repair it! Can’t even tell now. Looks great! Worth what we spent for sure! :)))

I had several bids on a coating for my 43 year old garage floor. While the others were hesitant about moving the washer and dryer, and balked some at the prep work that was required (old oily stains, old partially removed vinyl and adhesive) Paul took it in stride. He also highly recommended we move out any cabinet that wasn’t nailed down in order to achieve the best look. He was so professional, experienced and confident I hired him on the spot, although his bid was several hundred dollars higher. His crew was outstanding. They have obviously done many many jobs and are efficient and expert. The first day was all prep, grinding, clean up and applying the moisture barrier layer. The next day was doing the flakes and additional layers, and early the next morning they came by to replace the W/D and cabinets. i could have parked the car in there that day, but elected to wait another 24 hours, mainly so I could walk around admiring the floor and show it to my neighbors. The work is very high quality with seamless transitions over a step, up the stem walls, and under/behind the fixed workbench and cabinets. It looks terrific, overall brightening the garage up as the effect is much lighter than the old dark concrete. Paul suggested a flake pattern with white, grey, black and rust which looks great with the brick accents on my house. The coating seems quite thick and durable and has a glossy nonslip texture to it. There was a urethane-type odor for a few days after the job, but the garage is well ventilated and I could not discern it in my attached house. I am very happy with the results and would highly recommend this business for this sort of job.

Paul came out the next day after I called him. Man, these guys are on the ball and super super professional.
He came out and measured and gave me a formal quote. He showed me tons of samples (which were much better and higher quality than the ones I saw from another vendor, Garage Envy). I signed a contract on the spot. GORGEOUS material this Spartaflex. The quality was head and shoulders better than what I saw. Thicker and looked much nicer and smoother than the normal Epoxy samples I’ve seen.
$ 3,050 for parts and labor and installation including the stem walls. They have been doing this a long time. Paul is a real professional. They are scheduled out about a month or so. I signed a contract with him on the spot.
Wow, I can’t rave enough about Paul and Perkins Custom Coatings.
These people are true pros. They told me they would show up at 8:30 AM on the day the work started and they were here promptly at 8:30 AM. Many vendors that I’ve had out are late and make excuses whey they are late from getting lost, to taking a long time to get through the security gate, to whatever reason (dog ate my homework kind of thing). These guys were on time and worked hard.
The two guys that came out were true pros. Very professional and explained what they would do each day. I’ve done a TON of renovations and even built a few houses from scratch but I’ve never done any epoxy flooring before so I didn’t know anything about this process.
These guys explained the process and both days they showed up on time and worked about 8 hours each day. The end result is gorgeous! I’m super super busy lately as I’m opening another office in another country so it’s been crazy.
It turned out amazing! And Paul and Perkins were really professional and «old school». For example, I was surprised that Paul didn’t even ask for a deposit. I signed a contract and he shook my hand and said a handshake was good enough for him and that’s how he did business. He told me that I could pay him once it was all done.
I was on a monster 3.5 hour conference call when they finished so I couldn’t say goodbye. So I sent my wife out with a credit card to pay and they just said to call the office and they would take care of it. These people are true professionals. They are honest, ethical and hard workers and they delivered what they said they would deliver.
I can’t rave about these guys enough about this company.
