One of my favorite exhibits at Sea World. The moving walkway is a cool way to view the penguins in their habitat. The number of penguins here is incredible. The penguins here definitely have personality and provide a lot of entertainment to visiting guests. I like that there are also penguins in a pool area out front as well. The shop at the end of the encounter is a fun stop for penguin lovers to purchase some goodies.

During the summer the Penguin Encounter is my favorite place at Seaworld. It is very nicely air conditioned and has places benches to sit and relax while the air conditioning blows on you. The penguins are nice to watch. You can observe them diving off the«rocks» and into the water, it is entertaining. The exhibit is brightly lit in the winter and is very dim in the summer just as it would be in Antactica. There are a few different types of penguins to see and informational videos that play. The only problem I have is that it can smell pretty bad at times. There are also puffins you can observe swimming as you leave the Penguin area and there are African penguins outside the exhibit. If you like penguins do not pass on the Penguin Encounter, or if you need a place to cool off.

Our Winter is their Summer and vice versa. Something to keep in mind if you want to see them when they are the most active! :) I personally like taking the conveyor belt across the exhibit and then circling back to the raised area with bench seating to watch the videos and well… penguin watch! LOVE these little guys! I also love that people for the most part will not linger, so there’s almost always a few benches open. The speaker is very well knowledgeable, you can tell how much they care about the penguins. Kudos on also being very patient with the discussiin and the post Q&A. Few guests ask questions after the discussion and the speaker walked around to the upper deck & answered a few kids questions.(Including my son who was too shy to blurt it out initially.) Top notch customer service! Love the little gift shop. I want it all!(But you might want a refresh, I’ve been seeing some of this stuff for a few seasons+)

Love penguins and hate the smell. We need to turn down the smell-o-vision in here. Otherwise one of my favorite places to visit in Sea World.

It’s dark, a tight fit, and smells like fish… [Insert Crude Joke] It’s the Penguin Encounter’s moving walkway! — There’s no line and the moving walkway does all the work for you. — It’s cold(duh) and the perfect place to chill out on a hot late summer afternoon. — Bizarre music at the puffin exhibit at the end of the Penguin moving walkway. — They have a shortcut to the exit as soon you get off the people mover. Great way to leave without having to go through the gift shop.

I love the penguin exhibit at SeaWorld. However, I just wish they did a better job keeping the glass clean. Every time I go there it has condensation completely covering it making it hard to see inside. I wish SeaWorld periodically ran water down the inside just to wipe it away. It would make a SEA of difference.

Amazing customer service!!! Was on the walking escalator when a lady with 3 beers in a tray ran into my mom and soaked her!!! Went in to the store to buy a new shirt. Ana at the cash register could smell me coming and took pity on me. She called her manager, and asked them to take care of my wet clothes she made sure I was a happy park visitor with a whole new outfit(pants, shirt, and sweatshirt) courtesy of the Penguins. What a nice gesture. She saved our Mother’s Day :). Thank you Ana and thank you Sea World!!!

When I went in October, this was a dimly lit building with a view of close to 300 tuxedo-clad penguins. I mean, what kind of evil person doesn’t find these beautiful creatures(that seem so elegant and graceful even as they waddle and playfully interact with one another)… captivating? Spot the macaroni penguin with the«spiky hair.» Those are some of my favorite! A neat thing to note about the Penguin Encounter is that the lighting is designed to mimic the natural light cycle in Antarctica. If you visit the park in the summer, it’s completely dark. They do this to let the penguins know when it’s mating season. There are presentations that happen every few hours(times vary so check your park pamphlet) and are a fun way to learn more about penguins and find answers to your questions.

— Locale Destination — It’s in Sea World, San Diego. It’s located right next to «Wild Arctic», East side of the park. This is very short exhibit — you see lots of cute penguins and puffins in the short and dark building. No flush inside. But you can see them close outside the building. ****** Special Program ****** «Penguin Up-Close Tour» The privately guided 1 hour walking tour($ 60) included behind-the-scenes visit to the«Penguin Encounter», up-close interaction with a penguin, and learning experiences. — You must be 6 years older. — Guests under 14 years old must be accompanied by a paying adult. — Late arrivals may miss tour components or may not be accommodated due to limited tour availability. — You must check in 15 minutes before your tour start time at the Penguin Tour Sign(located in front of «Penguin Encounter», next to the Pole to Pole gift shop). — Conqueror’s Deduction — I think they could do better — it’s dim, so kinda hard to see them. Just putting them a lot won’t cut it. I know they could do better ;p
