Find another shop. Went here after my Mac Book Pro suffered minor water damaged and paid 170 $ for absolutely nothing. No change in performance after I was explicitly given hope that it would help. I understand water damage is tricky BUT upon returning my machine they forgot all the screws (the cover was still on so I didn’t know until I got home). Are you kidding me! On top of that they offered me only 200 $ store credit for my late 2012 Retina 13″ (that still powered on when plugged in) in their overpriced store. I ended up getting a great Macbook Pro on ebay with i7 1TB SATA HD 16 GB RAM 15″ for 1050 $ PLUS I got 550 $ cash for the computer that they wanted to give me 200 $ store credit where 1000 $ won’t buy anywhere near the processing power I got online. Of course in order to sell my computer for top dollar on ebay I had to have the screws which meant going back downtown (from PB) and finding parking ect, even after I called them the day before they still seemed clueless when I showed up demanding my screws be returned to me. I thought they should deliver them to in PB which they laughed off an inconvenient for them. Maybe be more professional and do things right the first time. Would not trust a computer from here, even good ebay sellers give you 30-​day warranties and for a little more you can insure it from theft and water damage for 2 years. So skip these guys, goto ebay or ANYWHERE else.

I got excellent service at a great price. I will return

Due to a fire in the building PB Computer has been temporarily relocated to 919 10^th Street, just a few blocks away.
I was looking to replace a power cord. PB Computer did not have a power cord in stock that would meet my needs. But I was directed around the corner and up the street to a mini mart that did in fact have a power cord in stock that would work for me.
The gentleman I spoke to at PB Computer certainly knew the inventory of the other retail shops and was kind enough to point me in the right direction. Based on how well I was treated and the great local information I was given, I would certainly return for computer service and/​or sales if I were anywhere in the area.

I came here looking for a reasonably priced MacBook. The guys had a great selection and even worked with me to find what I wanted. They really know their stuff and have a great customer focus. You won’t get a better deal or better service at any big box store. They have really stood behind their work and the refurbished Mac has been great, even a year later!

I had a very brief interaction with the guys, but it was all positive. I was looking for a replacement for my damaged MacBook. I told them how much I had to spend and asked for their recommendation. They upsold me a little bit, but did cut me a bit of a deal without trying a snow job. I’m no expert, but I know enough to tell when somebody is trying to pull the wool over my eyes. Didn’t happen here. Just a description of the features of the used computers they offered. They told me their best possible price, and I bought it and was out of there (with a couple little freebies thrown in).
I’d probably give 4.5 stars if that were possible, because they are a little expensive, but they provided me with confidence they knew what they were doing, so the uptick in cost was worth it.

I hate to have to update this review, but it needs to be done. We returned since our last experience was so stellar expecting the same level of service and were sadly disappointed. The computer my daughter purchased from PB began doing really wonky things so we brought it in for repair. They kept the computer for about a week initially and finally decided it had sand in it (never taken to the beach assuming it had sand in it when we bought it from them «refurbished») and also needed a hard drive — great, no problem there! We paid for it, they ordered it and put it in.
Two weeks later we were able to pick it up only to get it home with the EXACT SAME issues as it had before dropping it off. We take it right back to have fixed again, this time they admit they have no clue of what’s going on with it but will figure it out. Each time we were told to expect a call we had to call them to get any kind of update. When we spoke, we had to remind them of who we were and what the issues were with the laptop. Not only that is seems the level of communication between them was nonexistent, each time we spoke to one person we were told we needed to speak to the other. It was as if the laptop (which is my daughters livelihood) was just sitting there untouched. Three weeks later (after us basically having to call them for updates once every few days) we were told it needs a logic board and GPU which would be an additional $ 950.
This entire experience from start to finish was extremely unprofessional. They took way too long to even diagnose the laptop, and on top of that everything just seemed like guesses out of thin air without knowing the real issue. That’s fine … if it were free! But when we’re paying for your mistakes — and waiting over a month for a fix I might add is when it becomes RIDICULOUS.
So a month and a half later we have a computer back which has the same issues it was dropped off with. Time and $ wasted. Never again, and sadly can no longer recommend!

If computer geeks had a «mom & pop» atmosphere, this would be it. Office Depot didn’t have MAC Pro computer chords. My pilgramage to find one led me here.
I guess it’s a good sign when you see MAC parts all over the place. He had the power chord needed and it was comparably priced to other locations.
What I think is important is that he told me about simple upgrades (such as Solid State Hard Drive manufactured by Crucial) and computer programs that slow down the time for my computer to turn-​on/​log-​in. He showed me why and how to use Time capsule to save all my data to external hard drive.
He was upfront about pricing, timing to obtain parts, and timing to make the fix. I was visiting and couldn’t take him up on the offer.
He is a great resource and San Diego should be lucky to have an accessible expert.

I’d skip this shop. Sorry, they were nice enough but its obvious they are better with Apple’s then they are with PC’s. They charge an arm and a leg for their hourly service and do not guarantee/​warranty their work at all. You’ll just keep paying for parts and hourly services and will never know if whatever they are fixing will actually fix the laptop or you will be stuck where you started in the first place. There are better and more professional places to choose from.

Took my Mac in for a screen repair. Took only 15 minutes, was reasonably priced and the guy who took care of me, Trey, did a good deed for a non-​customer while I was in his shop.
These are the kind of people you want to do business with.

I brought my son’s 4^th generation iPad to get its cracked screen fixed. I brought it in on a Friday and Wednesday it was ready. (Slight delay only because they had to order a part). Now the iPad is good as new.

I came in with my macbook pro that had a broken hinge on the screen. I didn’t think it was going to be cheap because another place said it could cost anywhere between $ 100-​$ 600 to fix, which A. wasn’t worth it and B. a very broad quote.
PB computer shop quickly told me it was fixable and gave me a quote of $ 80 with parts. It was done quickly and efficiently and I am grateful they were able to help me out! Thanks guys!

I came here to get my Macbook Pro screen fixed because it cracked. I dropped my laptop off on Tuesday and got it fixed on Wednesday. I basically got same day service because the guy was out of the office on Tuesday so he fixed it when he arrived. Great guys! Would come back. Not to mention that their pricing was cheaper than all other places, $ 135 with tax included!

Spoke to both Derrick and Trey about picking up a new machine to edit on. They were both really helpful and Trey even helped me restore some data on an old external drive.
These guys are honest, helpful and really affordable. I walked out with a beastly 2.6 GHz i7 macbook pro with a 500GB SSD and all sorts of apps for $ 2,200.
Def my go to place if I need anything repaired or upgraded. Got my eye on that iMac too!

I went in there today because the cord on my laptop stopped working. I was pretty frustrated because I run my small business from my laptop.
PB Computer Shop was incredibly helpful in that even though they didn’t have my exact cord in stock, they didn’t just send me somewhere else. They figured out an alternative solution for me that met my budget.
I will absolutely recommend them to my friends and will use them in the future.

I have an old MacBook that is going through it’s I’m gonna have stuff break phase of it’s life. Sometimes I just hope it will die for good but Trey at PB computer shop always seems to fix it for a price I can’t refuse. They are helpful, knowledgable and if I ever need to purchase a new Apple computer they will be my 1^st call.

Purchased a refurbished Mac Book Pro a couple months back and boy did I get a great deal! So many programs already installed and the guys were really chill and willing to negotiate. I came in today because my charger wasn’t properly charging and they switched it out without a charge! I highly recommend their services and I wish them the best of luck in 2014!!!

PB Computer Shop was very helpful and explained a lot to me while I was purchasing a new Apple notebook. I had an episode of running around purchasing and returning new Apple notebooks until I pulled the trigger on a new Macbook Pro at PBCS. I originally purchased a new Macbook Air at the NEX to avoid sales tax. I found that my Macbook Air didn’t have enough memory to transfer files from my iMac and for a while I was stuck with a new Macbook Air that I couldn’t use. I talked with Trey at PBCS and he recommended that I get a new Macbook Pro and even offered me a decent amount for my Macbook Air. I ended up returning the Macbook Air to the NEX, and got a new Macbook Pro that had been recommended by Trey. I paid just under $ 1200 at the NEX. I brought it back to him to see if my new computer would have enough memory. He approved, but told me that he could have sold me the exact same computer with 4 more gigs of RAM, with iLife, Office, and Maverick already installed for no additional charge for $ 950. So I returned the Macbook Pro to the NEX and bought the Macbook Pro from PBCS for $ 950. It was gently used and worth every penny. I saved myself $ 250 for a better computer with additional software which probably saved me another $ 150 if not more! After knowing they are a whole sale dealer, I’ll never shop at the Apple store or anywhere else when I need a new ‘puter.
The only recommendation I have for Trey to improve PBCS, is to offer a free Wu-​Wear tee shirt with purchase of a new computer at PBCS. Ya best protect ya neck!

Affordable price for mac pro and nice staff! No shady. The staff showed me every things. Where it got burned, that is why it cost this much. I didnt need to suspect anythings:)

When there was a problem with the MacBook Pro I bought from Derrick and Trey at PB Computer, I worried because the warranty had expired. But they worked hard to make sure I ended up with a working Apple laptop. In fact, I got more help than I would have expected from my own stepdad when he owned a computer store.
My experience with this company has earned them a lot of loyalty from me as a customer who will buy from them again; and a strong recommendation for anyone looking for an honest place to buy a computer or accessories, or to take their computer for repair (I think they even replace glass on cracked iPhones).

Any time a Craigslist something I’m super skeptical of scams and shady people so I was naturally pessimistic about the computer they had advertised on Craigslist but These guys know their stuff and they do good business, even for aspiring business men.
I’m not a computer savvy guy but Trey and his partner were really helpful in getting me to understand why a MacBook Pro would be the best option for me. The computer they sold me was a 15″ 2.93GHZ Dual Core, 4GB, 325GB, MacBook Pro with Windows 7 installed for $ 850 including tax. Most of the same options on Craigslist were $ 750-​$ 850 but with slower processors (2.4GHZ) and no windows package ($ 350).
The computer itself is in great physical condition for being used. There were some of the usual scuffmarks on the bottom but compared to the other used MacBook’s this one was the cleanest.
They get a high rating because they got me the computer I wanted at better than market pricing.
