My husbands insurance switched to Kaiser this past January and I was devastated. I love our old Endo and wasn’t even going to entertaining the thought of seeing a new one. Our current Endo did encourage me to hook up with an Endo In network so I saw Dr. Patel with in two weeks of signing on with Kaiser. Though I’m still going to remain with my current Endo and pay out of pocket, it has nothing to do with the level of care we received on our visit. She was very helpful, and kind. She spoke to my daughter directly and included her in the conversation. She had suggestions for me and didn’t make me feel bad for wanting to stick with our current DR (she’s been my daughters DR since she was diagnosed with Diabetes at 18 months)
I must say in response to prior review that ANY Endocrinologist (good one that is) wouldn’t sign off on a teen diabetic getting their drivers license, if they don’t take their diabetes management seriously, and I would say not taking BG levels at school would be poor management. The same goes with pump management. If your not responsible with your diabetes care, a responsible endocrinologist wouldn’t recommend or prescribe pump therapy, because it certainly isn’t «easier»

We saw Dr. Patal on two occasions so far to have my 14 year old son monitored for his height and stage of puberty. The first visit my husband attended, the follow up visit I attended. I felt Dr. Patal was very nice to explain some of the same things she had previously told my husband, and was very clear on some options available to us. I appreciated that she however wanted to err on the side of caution, and have another non-​invasive bone-​scan completed before we made any next steps. Although she said it would be two weeks before she had time to read the results, I received a call just hours after leaving the radiology department with promising news. I appreciate that Dr. Patal realated to my son on an individual basis, speaking with him direclty and asking him how he felt about the process. She has excellent people skills and I feel fortunate to have my son under her care. Thank you Dr. Patal!

We had the privilege of meeting Dr. Patel at Kaiser today. She was punctual, and polite. She took a thorough family history before examining him physically. Dr. Patel asked my son direct questions, and made him feel included in the visit. She made him feel very comfortable and at ease. As a parent our job is to protect and advocate for our children. I felt confident with Dr. Patel’s diagnosis and recommendations. My son also felt positive about the instructions Dr. Patel gave. The suggestions were realistic and manageable. I appreciate the opportunity she gave my son to participate in his own health care. We really appreciated being treated respectfully, and like were a a part of the team. This was a very positive visit, and I would recommend Dr. Patel highly to anyone who needed a Pediatric Endocrinologist.

I am sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with Dr. Patel. I read your review and just think a different perspective needs to be addressed. I believe that blame for your daughter’s diagnosis is being put on the wrong doctor. I know, you know how Kaiser’s system works, that you have to be referred to Dr. Patel before your visit. Dr. Patel can only go by what lab results are in the system. Yes, you are right all doctors are only human and Kaiser does a good job with that knowledge. There are steps to follow and in my opinion Dr. Patel and Gabi did their job and followed Kaiser’s policies to give your child the best care possible. Yes, there was fault in your daughter’s diagnosis, but the blame is not with Dr. Patel it is in the lab work that was done and the doctor who referred you to Dr. Patel.
Further, I must state that my son is a Type 1 diabetic and Dr. Patel and Gabi are our greatest supporters in his care. We would not have made it without all of their knowledge and love. Dr. Patel and Gabi truly love their patients, we feel it every time we have contact with them. We are able to call them twenty-​four hours a day for any emergency. And believe me as a mom that safety net is a great blessing. I am always made to feel welcome and assured about any issues that arise. And with diabetes and a child, issues do come up! I have found their knowledge invaluable in my sons care and am so grateful to have them in my corner.
So, Ms. Emily I am sad to hear you had such a bad experience. But, I am really happy that your daughter is not diabetic and I pray for your family that everyone remains healthy!

After going through a lot with Kaiser, this physician has lied about telling my daughter and I that my daughter at age 16 had type II Diabetes II on 8÷17÷12. Dr Parul Patel is a pediatric endocrinologist and one of the only specialists in this area with Kaiser in San Diego. I am posting as of all MD’s that should be of high moral stature, Pediatricians should be careful especially when dealing with teens. I am hoping others who have had issues with this MD will post also.
