Got a couple of newspaper, magazines for a «project» in my college class. The service was good. I had to drive 20 minutes to get to Para. But it was the closest to me, and worth it.

Para’s is awesome. They have everything you can think of and then some. Check them out. You’ll surely find something of interest!

First time at the store couldn’t have gone better. They had the magazine I had searched days for, and the owner put a gentleman in his place for making fun of a disabled customer. Great visit! Will be back again.

The best newsstand in San Diego! When I say the best I’m taking about their bountiful selections, organization, and knowledgable owner that knows everything where he puts it. I asked the owner where I can find the economist magazine and he knew where exactly it was. My stupidity didn’t fully register what he clearly told me and he still took the time to guide me where it was lol. But the magazine was sold out by then when we looked, which is understandable… We both understood it’s a great magazine. Anyway, I love how the organization of magazines are in a transitional pattern that makes clear sense of category. I love how they’re open earlier than anyone too, but to be honest there isn’t anyone that has what this newsstand store has! I know I may sound redundant, but I don’t care. This is the kind of monopoly I’d support, if were to be one… and it should! Lol

My wife and I called in last Saturday to pick up my blues magazine. It’s just great that someone, usually Kent phones me when it comes in every 3 months or
wife found a cooking magazine she liked and we bought some mega millions tickets. The shop has had a recent major renovation and looks a treat. We’ve never seen a news agent with so many magazines to choose from. Have a look for yourself by clicking on this link at

This place is great! They literally have everything in this tiny store. Need coffee? Need a 9v battery? pad of paper and pens? any magazine you could think of? They got it all! I jokingly refer them to the storage cabinet and refrigerator for our company right next door.

I love this place. Paras News is the best place in North Park. I love the selection of magazines and I like the coffee too! It’s such a friendly place and has so much history.
The people running Paras really care about providing a great place for the community. I can tell they take so much pride in the business. I love that it is a Mom and Pop, cultural landmark in San Diego.
If you love literary magazines, high end art or fashion magazines. Even «adult» or hobby, craft and car magazines, there is seriously something for everyone. The business magazines are great too. I have learned so much about the world just taking a break from the everyday grind and looking over the shelves here.
It could be easy to miss this place if you’ve never been here before because its right behind a bus stop and it is a high traffic area right on the corner of 30^th and University. But they are open early at 5:30am and they stay open late until 9pm. Don’t mistake it for a convenience shop, its that and SO much more. Almost 4,000 magazine titles they told me! Wow. Talk about a window to the world.

They have everything you can think of here when it comes to magazines. Great spot. If they only sold beer that would have been helpful on the days or nights I needed to grab a quick sixer or 12 pack. Lots of snacks and non alcoholic drinks though. Only downside is the cliental that is around. Place can get a little scary with that bus stop right out front. Everybody always is smoking and its not a super welcoming place with all the derelicts around.

Barnes and Noble’s magazine rack has nothing on Paras. They didn’t even have the SD Biz Journal.
Paras has everything… and if you don’t see what you’re looking for, the owner will send someone to look for it in back.
We’ve got to keep this place alive! It’s the only true magazine stand left in all of San Diego.

What’s a girl to do when her best friend gets engaged and drives by the Third Avenue News Stand to find it closed… indefinitely?!
Luckily, Paras Newsstand came in for the save because I needed bridal magazines, lots of them, and quick! Found a great 15 minute parking spot in front of the store, strolled in, asked the man behind the counter where I could find the wedding section and (kudos!) he actually got up from the counter and walked me over to the section! Great selection including titles from other countries and I bought so many magazines I even got one free!

The biggest newstand in sd as far as I know. Its got a little of everything in mags and newspapers. Its also a quicky mart. I browse more then buy cause some of the mags are up to $ 13. Paras is a north park institution. It was there before all the hipster bars. It was there when Wangs was REI. Ginger E’s review shows some san diegan’s princess mindset. It shows the what Unilocalers grade on. Honey, if you couldnt handle NoPa in 2011 you sure couldnt handle it in the 80s. There was zero trendiness then and way more shadiness.

Since my long time beloved Borders that was located in Carmel Mountain closed already at least a couple of years back, and the international magazine selection at my closest Barnes and Noble is lacking, I drive all the way down North Park to get my fix of international glossy gossip at Paras Newstand. It is one of those stores that makes you feel like you are in a real cosmopolitan town instead of a mix of scattered hoods under a sunny roof! Prices for international press are ok, not overcharging too much. I love getting my magazines fix here!

Coming into say whats up to Junior and browse through magazines while I grab something to drink is always fun. He has a female pitbull thats about the same age as mine and is super friendly. They literally have just about every magazine you could want. I have had better conversations over concentrated subjects in this place then just about anywhere due to the vast variety of topics and news to browse. I love that it has a news stand vibe and its the only one I know of in SD. They’re everywhere in NYC but this one is mos def a gem.

Have been going to Paras for years! They always have what I want. Friendly service and the place feels old school! I hope they never move, especially to Mission Valley!

Went to Paras today to see if they have the College Football Caliente tickets yet. They will have them on Thursday! This place always has real friendly customer service.

WONDERFUL! Brilliant range, terrific service. I went in there for the 2^nd time today and they ordered a special film mag in for me, no problems.
The range is rich and deep so you are bound to find some that lights you up. Keep doing what you’re doing guys.
An asset to the neighborhood.

This spot is the West coast version of the news stands you’ll find in NYC, Chicago, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and other great Metro’s.
It’s been a fixture of San Diego since 1945 and that’s really cool, it’s all about keeping those traditions, these type of spots make a city and neighborhood like North Park original.
They have every periodical you could ever imagine, it’s a cool spot to roll in and catch the current baseball score since they always have the TV on the local or big game, pick up a magazine or paper and hit Café Calabria 2 doors down for a great espresso.

If I lived in the neighborhood, I’d go to Paras every week. Unfortunately, I don’t, so Paras is my go-​to newsstand for hard-​to-​find international magazines.
Several times, I’ve gone to them when I want UK music magazines that I can’t get at other stores like Borders (or when Borders won’t get the issues ’till like 2 months after publication) and they’ve generally always carried what I’m looking for. Once, they didn’t have the latest issue of Record Collector Magazine that I was looking for, so they called the magazine distributor for me to find out when exactly the latest issue would be mailed to them. When the magazine was finally delivered, they set aside a copy for me, then called and left a message for me that the magazine had arrived. I love service like that.
Now, I don’t even bother going to Borders to look for obscure or international magazines. I just go to Paras or call them to ask them if they carry what I’m looking for. They have not let me down yet!

Great, great, great news stand!!! They have everything you could possibly want and a whole lot more (including some creepy stuff you never dreamed existed).
Not to mention, this place is old-​school cool. Walk in and you’ll feel transported to the east coast.
It’s been here forever and a North Park gem for sure.

I think these guys have literally EVERY magazine you could ever imagine. I can’t believe this morning was the first time I’ve ever been in to purchase a rag from ‘em.
When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING (almost… as they didn’t have the Onion).
They even had R&R magazine, which is a super insider radio industry magazine. Why any average consumer would want to buy that is beyond me… but it just goes to show you the range of what you’re working with.
They even have free racing forms! Last year, I scoured the North County Coastal area looking for places to study the ponies before placing bets in Del Mar. Had I known racing forms were located right under my nose, I wouldn’t have wasted tens of dollars in gas money driving around aimlessly looking for that ish.
No matter what you’re looking for… whether it’s Jugs, Newsweek, Ebony or Oui magazine, chances are they’ll be able to hook you up with anything your heart desires.
Can’t wait to go back!
