Paper Moon Music is a music studio dedicated solely to the study of guitar. From Rock, Jazz, Pop, Folk, and Classical to Blues, Bluegrass, and Flamenco, our professional, qualified, and friendly instructors teach students of all ages from beginner to advanced.

Our students’ goals and interests take priority, as each lesson is tailored to the specific needs of the student.

Periodic low-​pressure recitals give students achievable goals to work on while practicing their performance skills in the process.

Our Guitar Learning Lab offers students multi-​media guitar studies in addition to private lessons via computer programs and videos/​audio — free for all current students.

The Paper Moon Music Performer Concert Series brings accomplished, well-​known professional guitarists of all styles to our studio to present shows geared specifically for a guitar audience.

Our spacious studio includes a comfortable waiting area for all students/​parents with a library of guitar-​related literature.

History

Established in 2003.

Paper Moon Music began as a small guitar lessons studio in the Ocean Beach/​Point Loma area in 2003. Focusing on friendly teachers with wide-​ranging experience and education, the studio quickly grew and became involved in community activities such as presenting guitar demonstrations to local schools and sponsoring local guitar concerts like Flamenco master Adam del Monte’s performance in San Diego in February, 2009.

Since then Paper Moon Music has expanded to a new more spacious studio on Voltaire Street in Point Loma, where students can study guitar history, theory, and technique outside of their private lessons in the multi-​media Guitar Lab; read from a wealth of guitar books and magazines in our Guitar Library; watch professional guitarists perform intimate concerts at the Performer Concert Series; even perform for other students at our Guitar Gathering recitals.

Business Owner

The owner of Paper Moon Music has been teaching guitar since the age of 17, when he was performing guitar for flamenco dancers in the Spanish dance company «Danzas Espanolas». Since then he has performed throughout the western U.S. and Mexico covering a variety of guitar genres. He created Paper Moon Music in 2003 to create a studio dedicated to the study of the guitar, rather than a music equipment store where lessons are an afterthought, which is unfortunately often the case. By carefully selecting instructors with both knowledge and teaching ability, he has maintained quality of instruction as Paper Moon Music has grown, allowing it to inspire hundreds of guitar students to explore this exciting and versatile instrument.
