Paint and Palate

I absolutely love GINA! She is amazing and so much fun!!! I’ve even hired her to do several in home painting parties and I highly recommend her to everybody! I’ve even given out her card to friends that have also used her at parties. Thanks Gina for all the fun parties I’m sure I’ll see you soon. –Carmen

If you come to San Diego it is a experience to put on your bucket list

I love everything art, and this is a must do experience. I would love for them to offer more event days, and hope they will in the future! I will be taking my mother here in July when she comes for a visit.

I’ve painted two canvases with Paint and Pallet. Both times were so much fun! Originally, I was hesitant to participate in one of these classes because I love doing art of any kind but don’t really like being told what and how to paint. The friend who I’ve gone with doesn’t do much art and loves to be lead through the step by step instructions. My friend invited me to go with her and I am so glad I did! To my surprise, both of us felt at ease to paint the way we preferred. I felt free to use my creative license and do my own version and my friend felt like there was enough steps given that she was able to go home with a good representation of the original art. I would highly recommend this to anyone even if you’ve never picked up a paint brush or your house is already filled with your original art!

I enjoyed the class and thought it was laid back and stress free. Only complaint is it is difficult to get into a popular painting due to limited spaces.

I’ve done several events with this company as a Girl’s Night Out and always had a lot of fun. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that it’s really hard to get into the class you want. The really good paintings fill up quickly and if you don’t sign up right when the new calendar comes out, you’re out of luck. I wish they had more classes and at closer venues to my house (North County Coastal). Other than that though, I highly recommend doing this!

Paint & Palate is a great place for group fun & to explore the artist in you. Bring your wine & bring your awesome friends. I recommend it. Wendy

I’ve done two events with this company and I really liked experience and Gina’s choice and approach of paintings. The classes was stress free, no rushing and instructor was very helpful and encouraging and willing to help. I also really liked that we did not use measuring stick as other companies do, allowing a bit freelancing. I would totally recommend it to anyone who wants to try acrylic painting. I really wish this company would have more events in San Diego location.

So much fun! What a great way to spend your night! Get the creative juices and the wine flowing:)
Gina is wonderful and really gives good instruction. Best of all is so affordable and you get to take home a painting when you’re done! Paint and palate is by far the best out there

Lack of integrity

Took a class with Mark last night and had an excellent time. The class was very easy to follow and allowed for your own creativity to be introduced. Marc was excellent at working with everyone’s «styles». He made the class a lot of fun and kept the pace of the class moving at the right speed (constantly going back and checking on students that were at different parts of the painting).

Bought a Groupon for painting class for me and the boyfriend. The site didn’t take the voucher ID, but after emailing the company about my issue and with the class time I wanted to reserve, Gina responded fairly quickly and stated that I was all set to go!
The class was in the back of Wine Steals in Hillcrest. I loved the location — the back room was very intimate and you didn’t feel like you were being watched by outsiders as you painted. I recommend getting to the location early to order food and eat if you plan on grabbing dinner during the session. There isn’t much lag time while you’re painting.

I’ve been twice; once with a friend, another time with my mother in law for her birthday. It’s a fun way to spend an evening. I have no talent in this area but it didn’t matter because the instructors are excellent at breaking it down and making it easy. I’ll definitely do it again with this company.

It was torturous to try and schedule my sister and I a class. TORTURE! Called on various occasions to try and get my sister and I in. Since we were using a Groupon we couldn’t just sign up online. They didn’t have many events to choose from which made this even MORE difficult. And then, the organizer of the events, Gina was not prompt in getting back to me. I considered asking Groupon for a discount, but finally I was able to get my sister and I in one of the events.
The actual event was a lot of fun. Our instructor was keeping the steps pretty elementary but also expected us to finish things very quickly before she would move on. My sister and I were fine, but we saw other people struggling to keep up and there was plenty of time at the end which shows she could have slowed down a bit.
She was also pretty stingy with extra paint and paper towels.
The ladies next to us were having a field day giving her a hard time… and were verging on obnoxious as they were whispering things about the instructor under their wine smelling breath…
But YAY! Painting is fun and our pieces are now hanging in our living room for all to see. I would love to have an experience like this again… most likely with a different company though!

Thank you Gina & Viva Vino for the event in Temecula this past Saturday! Your event inspired an extravaganza of great wine, great food & great company… This is such a great way to spend time with friends, your beloved or by yourself to meet new fun people.

I went last night with my co-​worker to do this class and it was amazing! Gina was such a wonderful teacher and very supportive of us and helping us with not being nervous. This is the coolest idea to do as a date night or girls night out. My co worker and I were just saying this morning this needs to be a routine for us for at least two times a month maybe more! We are addicted our walls will be full of paintings done at a Paint and Palate event! Highly Recommend!

I attended the Paint and Palate event at Crepes and Corks in Del Mar. The instructor was fun and seemed to enjoy our company as much as we enjoyed her instruction and personality.
The food and wine were easily accessible – the wait staff was attentive and the crepes were delicious!
We attended this event using a Groupon. Groupon had a glitch on their end. The owner of Paint and Palate, Gina, was incredibly helpful with straightening everything out. Our group was very appreciative of her effort.
We are looking forward in doing another Paint and Palate event soon.

Before I start, I’d like to point out that I write this review in comparison to the two other painting/​wine events I’ve gone to with other companies. If I had nothing to compare it to, I might have a different opinion because, in general, painting and drinking is a great idea and a lot of fun… Unfortunately, Paint and Palate was the worst of my three experiences:
— They don’t have many sessions on their calendar to choose from. and hardly any on the weekends (only 2 a month!). Making it to the painting locations by 6pm on a work day is an impossibility for me, which meant I had to drive up to Temecula for one of their weekend sessions.
— Similar to some of the other companies, rather than having a studio, P and P rents out different restaurants/​bars around town. The problem with the location I attended is that only about half of the participants in the room could actually see the teacher’s painting. Unlike other companies, the «instructor» didn’t come around to show her painting to those who couldn’t see, so we were left in the dark. They were even aware of this problem from the beginning, as the instructor told us all to take cell phone pictures of the original to work from. If I wanted to work off a picture of a picture, I would do it at home.
— The instructor, while I’m sure a great painter (I wouldn’t know as I couldn’t see.), was not a great teacher. She gave very vague instructions (i.e., «now add some shading,» «do whatever paint strokes you like here») which were complicated even further by the fact that we couldn’t see. At another event I went to, the instructor gave us specific instructions like «start a line 3 inches from the top.» Because of this lack of instruction, a lot of people’s paintings came out shitty (no offense to them haha). At the other events I’ve been to, ALL the paintings looked great!
Bottom line, if your have the opportunity to do one of these painting events, you should def go for it. but I would recommend one of the other companies. or at the very least, avoid the Temecula location!

Perfect date night or girls night out!
Came with the hubs because we needed a break from the normal dinner date night, and this was such a treat! We had so much fun relaxing, sipping a cocktail and playing with paints.
The owner was our instructor for the evening and she was fabulous! One of those genuinely kind people, who is encouraging, patient and who really took the time to make sure that everyone had what they needed.
We kinda did our own thing, but she was instructing everything step by step if you got stuck somewhere — or if you had absolutely no painting experience, ensuring that everyone’s piece of art was a success.
The materials were great, and our finished pieces look beautiful in our living room. I would absolutely suggest this for a night out — and we can’t wait to come back!

Loved the event. The girlfriend loved the activity and the picture we painted. Wine was great but i am not a wine head so it didnt really matter. Enjoyed the people around me who were very nice. I could see us going again soon! I hope to go to an event soon!
