Olympic Café is just a block away from home and I had never tried greek food, upon arriving we were treated my amazing service very polite and kind. I had the 1/chicken plate with rice, and the greek salad with pita bread, my bf got the lamb and beef gyro. They were both very delicious and tasty. We were recommend the cheese cake but the server had realized they were all out. so we had the baklava and wow was I surprised I loved it I’m not big on desserts but it was sweet and crunchy very good I enjoyed my visit to Olympic café and will be back for the cheesecake!

Family owned business with awesome food. Nothing they make here is subpar. I’ve gotten over a dozen tuna melts here and it seems to be the perfect size. The bread is grilled perfectly to have the right amount of crunch. If you’re not in the mood for a meal, their carrot and cheesecake are insanely good.

I only write reviews to give a business praise for good honest work rather than be a negative snitch like most lonely people on Unilocal. This is great little old fashioned café within walking distance from me. family runs the place, everyone friendly. north park needs more places like this. I’ve tried most of the items on the menu but my go to is the ¼ chicken and gyros plate that comes with house Greek salad and rice. And today I’ve overheard the son say they marinate the chicken overnight and then charcoal grill everything next day. Bomb. I go here when I’m hungry but try to be somewhat healthy(ha). Be prepared for a very generous amount of food. Looking forward to the new location right next door coming later in the year. Keep up the greatness.

Came here for a late breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by the selection available for vegetarians. I ordered an omelet with feta, spinach mushrooms and onions. The portion was too large for one, maybe even two, people, but it was delicious. A little greasy, which led me to thoughts of «what kind of oil is this?» and thinking«is this going to shorten my life?» as one does occasionally. The toast had Way too much butter, so maybe ask for this on the side if you don’t like it dripping. I would come back and bring hubby though, as he loves Greek food, breakfast and grease. Olympic café would be his jam.

Great convenient Greek spot. Typically get the chicken kabob plate or chicken breast salad and always a good choice. Baklava also delicious for a treat.

The looks of this place is real homey and relaxing. Might not have the best aesthetics, but the food is pretty standard Greek food. The server that helped me was polite, professional and friendly. If you are in the area and want some good Greek food this is the place to go.

Awesome food, and the staff is the best. I have been coming at least once a week for over 10 years. I know the owners and waitresses very well. The best Spanakopita I have ever had. Falafel is delish. This place has been established for over 25 years and I hope it sticks around for another 25 years.

We ate there in September. It was better than our favorite Greek place here in the Phoenix area. It’s a family-owned place, so we met the dad and son. The son was cool, he hooked us up some dessert for free because we were not local. Turns out his mother makes the desserts, and they’re spectacular. The next time we visit, I’m stopping in before we leave town to bring some of that dessert home, it was that good. As for the food we got, we tried the beef and chicken souvlaki and some gyros. It was crazy delicious, we ate everything. The portions were a good size. We got lucky finding the place, it really hit the spot, we waddled out fat from the excessive deliciousness of the food. Everyone was nice there, it has that neighborhood feel. Lots of locals and repeat customers, it can get busy. If you’re visiting San Diego and want some inexpensive, seriously good food that is filling, tasty, and trustworthy(place was very clean), then stop here.

Delicious, authentic food with friendly, efficient service. The Spanakopita platter was mouth watering and the chicken kabobs were so incredibly on point. Easy parking and a very convenient location. I wish every San Diego neighborhood had such a fantastic greek joint for people to enjoy. Come join the group of people who love The Olympic Café!

I was in need of a night out for dinner on my day off, but was getting tired of the trendy North Park affair on University and 30th. I wanted something simple and got a referral from my roommates for Olympic Café. Live now is my 2-cents of the ol’ local diner. Ambiance = 5: The restaurant is located in a strip lot that is easily ignored when heading between Hillcrest and North Park(see pictures). Surviving so long considering this fact is an amazing feat in itself. Inside Olympic Café felt surprisingly spacious despite it being a «small diner». There is plenty of seating with utensils pre-set on clean tables. No gimmicks, kept clean, and very inviting. Food = 4.5: Their menu is extensive, but broken down by types of cuisine and/or courses so as not to seem overwhelming at a glance. The restaurant is known for their Greek food, but has a large American selection with staples such as baby back ribs and spaghetti just to name a few. I ordered the spanakopita and gyro plate(comes with a side of pita, salad, and rice) and was pleased with both the portions and absence of excessive grease normally found with these two dishes. The food was not innovative nor game changing. Instead it is exactly what I expected good food to be. Sometimes all I want or need. A special mention must made about the coffee I was served. Olympic Café advertises that it serves Farmer Brothers coffee right in their menu. For those of you not familiar with the food service serving circuit, FB coffee is known as a staple middle to slightly higher quality mass produced coffee for local diners such as Olympic Café. Your local doughnut shop may have sold you some this morning. However, it’s one thing to have quality beans and another to have figured out the perfect brewing conditions like Olympic Café has. It has been awhile since I have had diner coffee better black than with all the fixings, although I admit I added a bit of cream to make it go down a bit quicker. Whoever says diner coffee couldn’t be good(3rd wave espresso loving hipsters, that’s who!) can easily be proven wrong here. Service = 5+: So it’s time for a short story. I went in this first time oblivious on where to sit, if I was going to be seated or seat myself, how to order, and so on. The older server(«older» as in mid-40’s while the other was in his late 20’s) could sense my naiveté and made me feel welcome like I had been his customer since they first opened ~ 25 years ago. Once I was seated and ordered, a couple walked in as a scout team for a group of 7 asking for accommodations.
Both servers, instead of panicking, smiled widely and told the couple they were on it. The two adjusted tables and chairs while a 2nd wave of dinner diners came in almost simultaneously. Both servers then double-teamed getting orders and drinks for the large group as quick as possible, and then the younger server proceeded to run the floor while the older took care of orders. Despite the bigger group of 7 taking up most of the room and service time, the other patrons were kept appeased by the younger server who was tall, built, and honestly very attractive as you would expect someone who was an SD beach builder or surfer to be. This along with the younger server’s inherent charm to liven up the place, kept all the patrons that night appeased despite how hectic it was. MOST importantly, he was also on top of his orders, bussing, billing, and all things food service while calming everyone down.
The older server seemed to be running the show and covering any cracks, but himself was kind and full of character and charm as he dealt with a demanding customer here, or a patron with questions there. Despite it being suddenly busy, I still felt that I was being taken care of as a single diner and not ignored between the two servers. Even when telling the diners I was not in the rush and that I understood if they took care of new walk-ins or larger groups, the two servers still helped me in a timely and warm manner. Overall: Being a born and raised So-Calian who has only been to a handful of Greek gyro joints, I would be the last person qualified to tell you if their Greek food was the best or even authentic. I bet most of you reading this are in a similar boat anyway, but if not, then you already have a favorite Greek spot to begin with. Regardless, the food is good, the feel to the place is warm and comforting, and the service was beyond amazing. This is the first review I’ve ever done of a food establishment where I gave 5 stars not for the quality of amazing food, which it was, but for the outstanding service where the waiters were on top of things without being on top of you. I can see why there are regulars here of both the 20-something hip types to the retired working class Joe there for breakfast and to read his paper. eftychisménos tróei(from Google).

I love this place. I’ve been eating here for 8 years and still keep coming back. The waitresses here are the best, the food is always fresh and the prices are very affordable for good food. I love spinach pie and they have the best. The spanakopita platter is where it’s at. The breakfast here is also very good. I like the eggs with spinach and feta it’s sooo good. The cucumber sauce is the best. Hands down! I love everything about Olympic and will continue coming here as long as it’s open. The décor could be updated but it’s gives it an old diner feel. Oh I forgot to mention the desserts are good also. The chocolate chip cookie is scrumptious! Go here my San Diego friends you will thank me

I live rather close to this place, and that’s the one bad thing I can say about it because I’m here far too often! The food is fantastic. I usually get the gyro plate but I’ve also had their chicken and every single time it’s juicy, tender and just fantastic! I usually call in my order because I’m a little too embarrassed to devour that much food in public. I also usually have leftovers which are just as delicious, if not more, the next day. I feel so lucky to live so close to such amazing food! And lastly, the owner’s son… the Greek goddess that works there, I mean he’s worth a trip even if you don’t like Greek food. Service is always amazing but I mean, honestly, he’s a such a gorgeous man, the service could be terrible and I wouldn’t mind. So yeah, love it here. You should check it out.

Really I haven’t review this place yet? I frequent this place often and that is why I consider myself a fan. When I think of greek food and comfort food, Olympic Café usually pops in my mind. This place reminds me of a diner more than anything. The gyros n kabob is good here. Once in awhile we order something different like their quarter half chicken dish or their lamb shank. Great place for comfort food and definitely enough for leftovers. Oh almost forgot to mention decently priced too.

The customer service here is great! This place has a home-y feel to it & I can assure you that right when you walk through the door you WILL feel welcomed. I usually order the… Olympic Salad: This is just a regular Greek salad. It comes with four slices of delicious pita bread & the sauce to dip with this bread is amazing! If you’re not really a salad person you’re going to get tired of eating this because their portions are so huge. This is around $ 8. It is definitely worth it, especially for the portions. Falafel Wrap: This comes with a side salad. I would recommend this if you have a big appetite. The salad & falafel wrap balance each other very well. My boyfriend usually gets the… Gyro Salad: This salad comes with about 8 long slices of gyro meat. The portion is like the Olympic salad, you will definitely have left-overs for later on. This also comes with four slices of pita bread. My boyfriend says this is the only thing he will get here because he’s so in love with this even tho he wants to try the other items on the menu. There are also of vegetarian/pescatarian items on the menu by the way!

Olympic Café is the definition of a Mom & Pop, Hole-in-the wall restaurant. It is family run and operated. I really like the Souvlaki Platter, 2 skewers of marinated beef, green pepper, and onion. served with rice pilaf, greek salad, pita bread and tzatziki sauce. Beef was charbroiled perfectly and the whole plate was a complete balanced meal. The Gyro sandwich is a combination of beef and lamb cooked on a rotisserie. It is thinly sliced and served in hot pita bread with sliced onion, fresh tomato and tzatziki sauce. I normally do not eat lamb, but I ate more than half of the sandwich… It’s that good! They also serve breakfast and delicious Greek desserts. Yes, I will definitely comeback, Yes, I recommend this restaurant and Yes, they have great prices.

Yes. 5 stars. You got a problem with that??? Listen, if you drive by or have never been inside, you might not get why so many people give this place 5 stars. Heck, the moment you walk in, you might not either. Here’s where it all begins. The place looks fairly average, no frills, straight-to-the-point. They seem to get plenty of regulars. There are usually a couple tables free, but sometimes it gets pretty busy. So, many opt to call in earlier and pick their order up. Service is good. I believe it’s a family-run establishment, but I’m not certain. The menu offers a ton of choices. I’m yet to make my way all over the menu to try everything, but for now, I can tell you that the Souvlaki platter and the lamb shank special are very tasty. And it’s a fairly generous portion for very affordable prices. Whether you dine in or pick up, they get your food ready very quickly. Maybe not like a speeding bullet, but just much much faster than you’d expect. It’s one of those places you gradually learn that it’s a 5-star place. Parking doesn’t seem very abundant, but every time I go there, I always manage to find a spot. Here’s an amusing little tidbit: My girlfriend always gets excited about this place. Not just because of the food and all that. She gets giddy when she lays her eyes on the greek god. If you’ve been there at least a couple times, you’ll know what I’m talking about.
