Navy Federal Credit Union

Simply went to ask if there was an atm cause I have never been to this location, it was 5:00 and as a customer came out and held the door open for us, two of your staff, one bigger man and some woman, felt the need to talk over me as I was just trying to ask a question. I didn’t walk in just a simple question I had, and as they both talked over me «we are closed» super rude, another woman walked up and held the door and points toward the atm. We already knew they were closed and respected that but your staff was very rude and I’ll never come back to
This location again.

This review has to do with all NFCU’s, we have been with them since 1975. car loans, house loans, etc… they use to be amazing credit union. Things have changed, and we are changing. The final straw was when we had our checking acct hacked for 10,000, yes! Huge concern for us… NFCU not so much. Still do not have answers/​reasons, not even a call. We continue to get statements from them charging us for overdraft in loans etc… when the money was put back 2 days later? I think the right hand dosent know what the left hand is doing anymore. What a shame, use to be amazing credit union that took care of the service members. When we bought our home 2 years ago, they pushed us to edge then, but we have everything with this credit union. They CANNOT take care of members any longer. Every time you call, you fill like they have no clue what’s going on. Many other banks/​credit unions that can take so much better care of us, and want to take care of us. Check around before you decide on NFCU.

So someone tried purchasing over $ 3000 worth of goods from Floor & Décor using my credit card.
Navy Federal contacted me immediately via phonecall and cancelled the transaction.
They also sent me a new card the very next day.
Navy Federal, y’all are on point.

It’s just a hassle because I’m at NAS North Island and have to drive 40 min (to and from) just deposit a check.
They should have a branch closer.
But I digress.
Never crowded here, easy, prompt, kind service. the way it should be.

Some of the friendliest, most professional customer service I’ve received. Their processes were well oiled and I appreciated how they went above and beyond.
I added my wife to my account, got her debit card on the spot, and my credit card rates reduced!

Seriously the worst bank ever. Very rude customer service reps, and outrageous fees. The reps at the bank have been nice, but any time I have contacted them by phone, or email they have been very rude, and not helpful. Since you’re not allowed to give 0 starts I will give one only because I have had a couple good experiences in the bank, but otherwise awful. I would highly recommend looking into another bank such as USAA because they actually care about their customers, and work hard to provide excellent service, unlike Navy Fed.

I am a member of a few banks. But I have never received the service I have received from this Branch and there staff. I had questions that were not answered prior on the phone so I went in and they expedited everything and answered all my questions. Also I fraudulent charges that they reversed for me in the expedited fashion as well made me feel really good that they were able to follow up with me personally and make sure everything was satisfactory. The bank attendant that helped me was Named Joy I have seen her now on every visit she actually makes my day Pleasant the way she handles my business.
I would definitely refer people to this bank because of Joy and their other staff Members.

According to a phone message left at our summer residence in November of 2014, Navy Federal Credit Union notified us that someone had tried to set up two credit accounts for very large sums of money. We didn’t get the message until June of 2015. Surprisingly when Navy Federal failed to get a response from us, they didn’t bother to look any further. They made no effort at all to find us even considering their resources and the fact that I can find google us and locate us in about five minutes. When we finally reached them in June they promised to Fed Ex the paperwork immediately so we could file a police report. It took more than three weeks and countless phone calls for Navy Federal to mail out anything. Finally we received two blank forms (forgery/​fraud) with no names, numbers, and no guidance or any kind. We just called yet again asking to speak with a supervisor but she had gone home sick. Is this an office with two employees? Is this a legitimate credit union? What a pathetic way to do business. After all, one would expect a credit union to be run in a professional way and have a sense of responsibility to the public it serves. While I laud them for their initial phone call, they seemed to be disinterested in following through in any way.

I would never recommend Navy Federal C.U. for a home equity loan. Very frustrating process with the loan processors on the East coast. Our loan processor was terrible. Would not return phone calls or e mails. I had to ask for a supervisor several times and was then handed off to another processor not a supervisor. This processer also did not understand many of the forms she was asking for. As soon as I can I will be looking for another home equity loan to pay off Navy Fed. I do not want to stay with a credit union who treats their customers like how I have been treated. It sure would be nice if Navy Fed would follow up on the loans to find out how satisfied I was with how the loan processed worked. They need to check into the loan processor I had and give her more training.

I have never been as pleased with a banking institution as I am with this branch. Every time I go in, I’m out within 5 minutes, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. In particular, I would like to recognize Rebecca for her outstanding customer service. She listened to my situation, empathized, and instantly came up with a solution that really makes my life much easier. Thank you!!!

I give them 1 start because for the most part, NFCU as been ok to us. We got our car loan through them and it was ok. BUT recently I was the victim of Id Theft. They completely clean out our Savaging and Checking account. So how they cloned my NFCU Visa check card and got my pin number (to a card I NEVER use at the ATM). The 1^st night they took us for $ 1100. Now my thing is my husband or myself have NEVER taken out that kind of money from any ATM. and the kicker. the theft was going on in Houston TX!!! We had both used our cards earlier that day in San Diego, CA! Why didn’t NFCU flag the account! But then they came back the next day and finished the job! leaving us with a -$ 8.18 in our checking and $ 7.00 in our saving! Thank NFCU for the security leak that allowed someone to not only get my pin. but let them clean out our account in TX when both my husband and my cards were being used in San Diego on the same day! Will be moving back after this!

My experience with this bank as a whole stretches back to 2000. I’ve generally been pleased with the service. However, this branch is by far the best I’ve ever been in. Seldom crowded and always friendly, this branch always exceeds my expectations. Today I was informed of a product that I didn’t know I was eligible for that will save me money and allow me to budget better.

This Review is regarding Navy Federal «Call Center». I called in with a issue. Neither the representative, nor the supervisor Sheri was willing to assist me. They treated me as unappreciated customer. Do to thier treatment I will be considering closing my major accounts through them.

John was very helpful and kind. I am going to have to have him help me every time. Being new to this bank it was so nice to have someone who was so patient as I had a million questions.

Very helpful when it came to my auto loan! Never had a problem at this branch at all.

This is a very nice, updated, large NFCU. Sadly, they decide to staff a Saturday with 2 tellers. How does that make sense? People are coming in and standing in line at a rate faster than a teller can complete a transaction. Disappointed.

New home buyers beware:
My wife and I used the First Time Home Buyer Plus program a little over a year ago and it was and continues to be a horrible experience. Due to a miscalculation on Navy Federal’s part they underestimated the property taxes on our new house by 600% and 4 months after close sent me a bill for $ 5,000.
The best part is that I questioned the amount prior to close and was advised ‘not to worry about it’ as my monthly payments would stay the same. Their miscalculation has now led to a 20% increase in my monthly payment to an amount I wouldn’t have been qualified to pay in the first place. Errant mistake or a ploy for new mortgages?
Glad to know Navy Fed can make a mistake and are happy to let me keep paying for it.
Thanks Navy Fed and good job ‘taking care’ of first time home buyers.
I’ll be sure to keep paying my bills and you can continue to ignore the fact that you messed up. Oh and I really appreciate the patronizing and condescending response to my recent phone calls asking for assistance.

So far, so good… this Navy Fed is newer and cleaner than the others and I haven’t yet encountered the hellish lines I often find at other locations.
While I miss the friendliness and personalized service of Pt Loma Credit Union, I’m generally satisified with Navy Fed’s. I try to do all my business in person or online because calling the East Coast call center can be unrewarding.
As a side note: I was VERY unhappy with Navy Fed’s handling of a mortgage loan app a couple years ago; it was another location but obviously the rules are the same everywhere. We had to pay a large fee ($ 250? $ 500?) just to submit an app, and then we didn’t even end up buying the house… and they made mistakes, changed loan officers, weren’t timely in responding, etc. I would definitely try this Liberty Station location next time: the staff seems just a little more professional than the other locations.
