Mythology EcoBoutique

Had a great experience shopping for some basics for my wardrobe. They had nice pieces that were special, because of their interesting cuts and high quality Eco-​friendly fabrics, but that would match anything. Yay. I’ll go back when they get more spring stuff for sure.

Awesome boutique! Came here to load up on unique, organic and Eco-​friendly baby gear for my many expecting friends and I was not disappointed. Store owner and designer/​artist Rick was in and was helpful, knowledgeable and attentive (but not overbearing). I can’t wait to come back to shop for myself!

I was in Mythology yesterday and had a fantastic experience! Rick was very helpful and was willing to make a belt for me! I have been wanting one of these crystal belts since I lived in Coronado and used to walk by Kippy’s. His belts cost way less and are so beautiful. I feel so fancy having a belt made for me. :) I love this store and highly recommend it!

Went here to buy an outfit for my twenty-​something daughter. who was attending an important work function. My daughter has discerning tastes, and prefers assembling simple fashion pieces to create whimsical, unique looks (in this case, she was looking for a bit of elegance). Wayne was terrific. He was very knowledgeable, attentive, resourceful, and low pressure. He also kept other ‘helpful’ family members tactfully at bay while keeping the focus on my daughter (who was actually going to be wearing the outfit). He helped my daughter sort out every detail from the dress, to scarf, to accessories — and he was very respectful of our budget. We got a great deal and my daughter looked absolutely stunning! (She can also wear everything that we purchased with other outfits from casual to more formal.) Highly recommend Mythology and ask for Wayne!

Store really has evolved into an amazing place. I have been coming since the beginning and like just how the products change up every few months. Check often, because there is always something new.

I came across this boutique back when I lived in the neighborhood, but since moving on I still find myself coming back fairly often as there is literally nothing else like it San Diego.
I think the blend of organic/​sustainable goods from local artists is really cool idea well ahead of its time and I always find something unique and stylie. Great store too if you or looking for a gift for someone or their kid, and the owner is super helpful too

Sorry. Not a big fan. I have shopped here a number of times as I live nearby. Some products are nice but the ones on the sidewalk are a bit beaten and faded looking. Skinny tall guy who works there seems like an unhappy guy. I like the uniqueness of the boutique but just not happy with the overall shopping experience.

I admit, when I hear «ECO-​Friendly or Cruelty Free» I think Granola, Mu mu’s, tie-​dye and armpit hair…
Not this place! Awesome clothing for men women and kids too! I picked up a great vintage iron on tee and the owner offered to trick it out a bit for me and it“s great! The Vintage belt buckle selection is not to be missed… Highly recommended!

Very cute and affordable gifts, jewelry and accessories. Everything is made locally and using natural materials but no animal products. Items are unique. The artwork are very interesting. I even found something for my husband for Christmas. The person in there is helpful and friendly but not pushy. I will shop here again.

Always my first stop when shopping for a gift! Especially for a baby shower. You’re sure to find something totally unique for both baby and mommy. I never make it out of there with out getting something for myself as well! I live in my organic cotton yoga pants I got there and my boyfriend is always rocking one of the belt/​buckles that I’ve picked him up.

I live in LA, but come to SD to visit friends who live in South Park. Last time I was there, I got some great graphic bamboo t-​shirts at Mythology that are really original, not to mention affordable. The guy who sold them to me (the owner?) is really easy-​going and super helpful, and apparently designed the tees himself. I get tons of compliments from people on how unique they are, and everyone wants to know where I get them. I hate the cookie cutter crap you see everywhere… this store is a welcome departure!
Certainly worth a stop in for unique items and artwork too… not to mention it’s all eco-​friendly, which rocks.
There’s a kids clothing section too which seemed pretty popular judging my the young mom’s with handfuls of stuff at the register.
Oh, and the décor is fun too.

This is a follow up on the store owner’s post: A «fraud alert» was not on my debit card when the transaction occurred. I spoke with my bank several times and confirmed this fact. If there was a «fraud alert» on my debit card at the time of the purchase, the bank would have automatically shut down the account and would not have credited the funds to Mythology. I know this, because they have done so on two occasions when they were concerned about an out of state charge. After being yelled at and hung up on by the store owner yesterday I tried to file a fraud alert as to this particular charge. However, my bank told me that they couldn’t do anything for me because it was a debit transaction and Mythology already has the funds.
As for the claim that «our hands are tied,» that is blatant lie. Richard asked me to give him private information which he is not entitled to under state and federal law and cannot ask me for under VISA operating regulations. (See California Civil Code Section 1747.08; Pineda v. Williams-​Sonoma Stores, Inc. (2011) 51 Cal. 4^th 524;
.) Given my experience with him, I felt extremely uncomfortable with his request. I asked him to provide me with the contact information for his credit card company so that I could deal with them directly. Instead, he told me to never shop at his store again, told me I could figure it out, and hung up on me. Since then, he has not made any attempt to contact me personally to resolve the situation.
As for a «fun and safe environment,» I highly doubt that. Richard told me that this has happened to other customers in the past. He said that one day it happened to every single charge that went through. Also bear in mind that the store refused to give me the item I purchased one day after deducting funds from my bank account. I was then told that if I wanted to pick up the item I would have to give the store a second credit card and allow them to esentially double charge me. He also demanded private information in order to process a refund, which he is not legally allowed to request under Civil Code section 1747.08 and could result in a $ 250 statutory penalty.
As for «extremes,» that part is true. Richard yelled at me, blamed me for his own credit card machine errors, and hung up on me. He never once apologized. Instead of following up with me or simply fixing the situation, he put a post on Unilocal.I worked in retail and customer service for many years, including a store while it was going out of business with many bitter employees. Not once, have I ever seen someone treat a customer to such a «fantastic shopping experience.»

I discovered this place while boutique shopping in South Park, this beautiful Saturday afternoon. Although I didn’t buy anything there today, I’m a huge fan of the concept. It comforting knowing that some little kid didn’t lose a finger working 16 hours at a sweatshop, just so I can get some cool threads. The gentleman working was very helpful. Offered to have alterations done on a top that was a little too big for me. The prices are very reasonable considering everything is made from organic materials. They also had some cool local art which I’ll have to bring my roommate to check out.

Loved this place. It’s nice to see so many eco-​friendly venues opening up in South Park. The guy who runs this place told me stories about his days at the Fashion Institute in NYC (if you go in there ask him about it, interesting specialisation). They have these cool reversible belts with which you can pair one of the funky/​vintage/​designer/​whatever belt buckes. I found a green suede belt that goes perfectly with my green suede shoes, yeah!

such a great store– stumbled upon it. it really was a cool buying experience. there are so many great trinkets and gift ideas. In the window right now there is a display of dresses that were painted by elephants! it was soooo coool. also there is a local artist that has scrabble pieces for necklaces, definitely a really cool gift idea!!! :)

The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because it was soo good I could not walk out of the store without having to spend MORE $$$$ Rick was awesome, talented and environmentally conscious, Thanks Rick (Richard) you were awesome almost too awesome… but great gear, thanks for the discounts…
I will be back again and again… next paycheck ill have to fit you in my budget!
