Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunt

I’ve done this twice now with Alex, once in Old Town and now the San Clemente location. I had so much fun the first time I invite my whole family to this while vacationing at Christmas. We all had a blast. If you want to challenge your brain and have a fabulous time DO THIS!!! You won’t be disappointed. This hunt is do well orchestrated. Thanks Alex for giving us a super fun activity to do with my family.

This was a great opportunity for our co-​worker team building event and it far exceeded our expectations! We had a blast walking through Old Town and learning a little history along the way. I would definitely recommend this Scavenger Hunt to everyone i know!

We had a great time on this scavenger hunt! Definitely would recommend this to friends and family. We liked it so much we’re planning to go up to Laguna to do it there next. We had four people in our group and that was the perfect number. You can be really serious and try to complete it in record time or you can do what we did and stop for a beer. Good fun!

I gotta say that this was an amazing experience! This was my first scavenger hunt, and I gotta say that it was well organized and so much fun! The clues and directions were very well planned out. They had me running around, laughing at how easy and hard the things were and we finished in 5^th place! I heard they have other locations and they’re a bit harder so I’m gonna hit the gym and get ready for them. If you’re looking for a fun, challenging, brain teasing game and want to play as a team to solve riddles then sign up and do this scavenger hunt. You will not regret it.

I have a yearly get together with friends and this year I planned the Murder Mystery Scavenger Hunt. We all met in Old Town at the starting point to get information about the game as well as game pieces and rules.
We were all excited as our starting point was Fred’s Mexican Café, a restaurant none of us have gone to. We ordered Taco’s and Cocktails which were all delicious.
I have never been to Old Town before therefore this scavenger hunt was really exciting since it took me to locations I don’t think I would have know about much less been to. We saw historical homes, chapels, theater, cemetery and museums just to name a few. As well as a slew of restaurants to choose from.
Everyone was dressed in period attire and were very helpful in answering questions. Now granted we did not solve the who done it but boy did we have a great time.
I will definitely do this again.

This was my first experience with any type of scavenger hunt/​murder mystery. Myself and three other people in my group had a great time! It was a lot of fun to walk around Old Town and use problem-​solving skills and logic to find the killer. Getting out and seeing the sights with friends while problem-​solving beats the snot out of any video game or logic puzzle that you can do at home! If anyone is looking for something interesting, fun, and challenging to do that will get them out of the house for a couple hours, look no further! The designer of this course obviously put a lot of time and effort into making the experience so great!

This was so much fun! This course brings you all around Old Town. If you enjoy strategy games and logic puzzles, this is for you. The creator Alex is very clever and put a lot of thought into every step. Every team started in a different location, so you didn’t run into other groups much. Some clues are tricky, but it’s definitely possible to solve. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to do something fun and different on the weekend.

We just did this on Sunday, 10÷4÷15 in Old Town. It was challenging but when you figured out a clue, you felt like you had really achieved something. It was so much fun and the clues are very creative. Alex did not disappoint! I can’t wait to try the one in Laguna Beach! Its a really good time to spend with friends and family and I definitely recommend you limit your group to 4 or 5. Along the way you see things you probably never noticed before all while trying to figure out who is the murderer. It took us over 4 hours so make sure you bring snacks and water!

We did this for my mom’s birthday. Was super challenging, in a good/​fun way and we all had a great time. It took a long time, 4+ hours but was interesting throughout. At the end we thought we had definitely won since it was so challenging (how could anyone else have figured this all out?!) but we placed 6 out of 9 — a little blow to the ego, haha. A super fun thing to do on a Sunday! We had a group of 7, I would say 4 – 5 people would be ideal. Great job, was very impressed!

First and foremost, this was such a blast and I am so glad I did this! So I gathered my bf and another couple, we put on our Sherlock Holmes hats, and wandered around Old Town San Diego! The creator, Alex, puts so much though and intricate detail into each aspect of the game, and it definitely shows! He is very clever and witty this one, so if you play, make sure you pay attention to every detail, but be careful not to over analyze anything too much! I know my group ran into problems in that area! Once you understand the mind frame, it will make it a bit easier to start solving other clues!
I also really enjoyed the fact that Alex and his crew were able to get some of the local shop owners/​employees to participate as well! It made the experience that much more fun!
Alex said there were «spies» around to make sure your group didn’t break up, but I don’t really know if there were. If there aren’t, it would be too easy for people to split there group up (even though you’re not supposed to), so I’m hoping there are spies to make groups follow the proper rules!
The time period to play was long, but honestly, it didn’t even feel like we were running around as long as we were! The time flies! My group can’t wait to participate in his other 2 locations!
I love being able to contribute to a business that puts so much effort and thought into making a great experience for their customers! I will definitely be back, thanks again Alex!
Anyone that considers doing one of these, DO IT! It’s definitely something different and adds some variety to your weekends! Skip out on the boring and normal dinner and a movie date and do this instead! You won’t regret it (especially if you’re into these kinds of things)
Nothing was too difficult and nothing was too easy! You do have to put your thinking cap on, but hey, you’re building brain cells that way! :)

So much fun! Creative clues that got you thinking and nothing too hard that would make you frustrated. Alex provides hints if you need them. The game made good use of the San Diego Old Town location, but you don’t HAVE to be familiar with the area to play. Absolutely no complaints, I highly recommend this hunt if you are a fan of logic puzzles. Tip: Bring water, snacks and wear sunscreen… you’re going to be outside running around. If you’re in it to win, you probably won’t want to stop for a break.

best scavenger hunt ive ever done. it wasnt hard enough where we couldnt digure it out and wasnt easy enough where it was boring. definetly do it witha group because more minds helps solve the puzzles and its fun with friends. you arent left trying to figure out what to do next. theres always a direction what to do. also its not linear you can choose which way to solve the killers identity. you get to learn more about the area which lets you see things and find places you wouldnt have found on your own. highly recomended to everyone.

Super fun event. Even on a day like today, when it absolutely poured down rain, we still loved it. It took 5 hours for our team of three to go through all the clues and solve the mystery and we only looked at our clock once, just to make sure we had enough time left to finish the game! The clues were well thought out and uniquely challenging! I definitely couldn’t have solved them on my own. This is a great team event and I would absolutely recommend it to friends. In fact, we liked it so much we’re already talking about doing the event in San Clemente. It was a great way to see and learn about Old Town, too, even for someone like myself who has lived in San Diego for 30 years.

We had such a good time. the clues were very well thought out and fun enough for the family. We will surely come back for more.

Another great murder mystery put on by Alex! I highly recommend participating in this event. It’s perfect for the competitive people and the people just looking to have a fun time solving puzzles in San Diego. I played the murder mystery recently and didn’t stop smiling from the minute he said go, until we had checked in at the finish. All the detectives (participants) start out together to receive instructions and their clue binders. From there, teams must race around old town San Diego solving puzzles at many different places. The puzzles are perfectly designed to be challenging, but not to the point that you’d want to pull out your hair. If you haven’t participated in one of Alex’s murder mysteries, then you don’t know what you’re missing.

My eclectic team (ages 15 to, uh, let’s say older than 50+) was completely engaged from the very beginning with the lighthearted and informative overview to the entertaining playbook that took us to multiple new and historic locations.
Evidence is hidden in plain sight among the streets and shops within six square blocks — our Fitbits totaled more than three miles. Some solutions can be challenging and fortunately there’s a hint helpline to keep you on track.
Leave all your assumptions at home, channel your inner detective, and bring along your favorite Watsons to solve this ingenious and inventive murder mystery scavenger hunt.

I had an amazing time running around with family and friends learning about Old Town San Diego. Alex creates unique and challenging puzzles at various locations in Historic Old Town to rule out innocent suspects. It took our team just a little over 3 hours to complete the game. I would recommend this for anyone 16 and over. Wear comfy shoes and bring water because you’ll walk about 3 miles for the game in Old Town. An excellent afternoon if you’re a fellow puzzle nut.

Amazing time! If you like being a decetive, and hanging out all day in Old Town you’ll love it. Learned a lot of cool stuff about San Diego, and finished the whole thing in about 3 hours 45 mins. It’s not fluffy like a murder mystery dinner. You actually gotta work! Super cool experience. Plan on going to the Laguna and San Clemente Hunts. Kind of like amazing race without all the physical challenges and eating detours. Just solving riddles and using your brain. Would recommend bringing some snacks and waters. Not enough time to stop and eat, but there is time to grab a drink before, during, and after! The place you begin at has a Bacon Bloody Mary that comes with a huge strip of bacon on top. Loved every party of the day!
