Was a very good meal. My family and I enjoyed it. I got the carne asada burrito which is amazing. My 8 y.o. loved the rolled tacos. My 3 y.o. scarffed down a cheese quesadilla. My wife got shrimp tacos which she really liked but FYI they have a jalapeño mixture in them so if you are looking for something mild you may want to see if they can make it without that mixture. This was our first time eating here while visiting San Diego. We will definitely have to return on our next trip.

My favorite San Diego area quick stop burrito spot. California burrito is big and has lots of carne asada. A walk-in perk is the salsa bar where there are 5 different salsas made fresh in-house and a couple other options like jalapeño/spicy carrot mix.

What this place lacks in dining room cleanliness it makes up for in pretty damn good burritos. I’ve had the al pastor burrito here twice and it’s really good. They also have a pretty awesome salsa bar. So after eating here 3 times, basically the food is pretty good, but the dining room is dirty as all get out. I guess I’ll take good food and a dirty dining room over bad food and a clean dining room any day. It’s a taco shop, not a farm-to-table elegant dining restaurant. Go: If you like burritos. Don’t go: If you get skeeved out at a place in need of a good sweeping.

Great location great food and customer service is perfect as well. Nice place to have a lunch with friends or family. The resturant is always clean when I’ve gone. Its not too loud at all. I like how you can sit inside and watch people walk by or outside and enjoy the breeze and smell the beach.

The food was really good and the portions were enough for two people. I love the location being so close to the beach.

This place serves perfectly edible food at not outlandish prices. The beans are rather bland and their salsas are a bit one-note(just spicy with no depth of flavor). I would never go out of my way to eat here, but if I was nearby and needed a quick bite, I wouldn’t object to this place. Could be a nice place to grab food when out late. Hard to get excited either way, but I do like the lights out front. Brightest shop at the beach!

I love the food here. Every time I am in San Diego I come here for tacos. I think the fish tacos are fantastic. Service has always been great. They have a salsa bar tables inside and out.

Horchata – delicious, it’s basically rice pudding cold beverage, really refreshing! Tried the carne asada burrito. I loved the tortilla taste and texture. The filling itself was decent – nothing special– but when you added they’re fantastic selection of unlimited sauces(green sauce, smokey red sauce, spicy red sauce, and sort of a salsa red sauce, plus a guacamole sauce) it became so delicious I had to eat the whole thing, and it was big too. I would definitely go back, lots of happy patrons ordering lots of good looking food

Was the first place we saw so we thought we give it try… I really wish we didn’t. Good location, I’ll give them that. I had the carne asada super fries. Everything tasted like corn tortilla. Or… I don’t even know… Really was a waste. My whole family didn’t finish their food and we were starving. Had people smoking weed outside and all the smoke was coming in. Sorry… Not good when I’ve got my kids with me. And as you walk in and out of the restaurant those same guys smoking weed will ask you for some change. I’d never come back to this place. I wish I looked up other Mexican restaurants in the area before walking into here. Stay away and find something else. It’ll most likely be better.

Th almost magnetic attraction to this place definitely wasn’t the food or the raving reviews but more it’s appearance and perception of authenticity, located across from the infamous Belmont Park. Standing at the walkup window amidst the flies and over-flowing trash bins street side doesn’t give you the warm and fuzzy feeling that the food is going to be anything close to outstanding and in my opinion it wasn’t but somehow it remains and seems to be popular for reasons other than the food or service. The flashy paint scheme and neon lighting evokes a feeling that you’ve crossed the border therefore you’ve inherently assumed the risk, although you’ve only crossed the street I wouldn’t drink the water.

This place is one of the Unsafe places in Mission Beach. My fiancé walked over to get dinner for us the other night and was verbally assaulted by 6 grown drunk men, and the staff did nothing to stop it. They allow drunk drug attick and holmeless to hang around. Definitely a dangerous corner!

Worst Mexican food I remember having. I could be wrong here, but I think the tourists are what is keeping this place afloat. Move this place to Chula Vista and they are done. Specially, the carne asada was odd, I took a bite and thought of this is not right. I smelled it and confirmed that this was not worth the risk. If you like mild, mainstream Mexican food probably perfect. I am not sure I would call this«authentic». I did not like it, but I am glad that others have.

(3 stars for it being so dirty) Food is very good. Stopped by there with the wife and kid. They got my wife’s order wrong but fixed with no problems. The only negative thing i would mention is the cleanliness of the place. The floors and tables are dirty and there are a million flies in the place flying around landing on everything, food was worth it though. Our burritos were big. Stay tuned, if I get food poisoning I’ll let you know. Update 10÷26÷15 Same old place, great food but horrible cleanliness. Flies everywhere and the floor still looks like it has never been swept.or.mopped.

When in San Diego… Eat Tacos. Especially by the beach. At 1:00am. Or well that’s how I did it at Mr. Ruriberto’s Taco Shop. This is by far the most flamboyant taco joint I have ever seen. It looks like it belongs in Las Vegas to be honest with all the glitz and glamour. But it gets the job done because they’re located right next to another taco shop and we chose Mr. Ruriberto’s purely because it as shiny and flashy. And they’re open 24 hours also. I was kind of surprised by how many people were eating tacos at 1:00am. We ordered two Carne Asada tacos and a horchata. Initially I thought these tacos were severely overpriced. I mean who pays $ 3 for a taco? HIGHWAYROBBERY. But when they came out, I could sort of justify the price. They were really big and loaded with meat, guacamole, onions and tomatoes. I honestly think just one of these could do it for a meal if you weren’t feeling too hungry or am on a diet. Anyways, we enjoyed our tacos. It had good flavor and was seasoned properly. Or maybe it was because it was 1:00am and we were by the beach where my boyfriend and I had first met(nostalgia might be a factor). Who knows but it was good and filling. The horchata on the other hand really needed a lot more cinnamon. Nobody wants to drink sugary rice water. Look out for the flashiest taco shop in San Diego! It just might surprise you how tasty the food is from this rather run down/ghetto taco joint. 4⁄5

Never been there until this weekend. The thing that brought me in was the filled churros. They’re harder to find in San Diego than you might think. Our breakfast plans were waylaid by my hubby’s inability to get out of bed early enough in the morning to go to one of the classic breakfast spots in PB. But it worked out to our advantage… We came to Mr. Ruriberto’s because of their breakfast burritos(which are served all day). And apparently their non-breakfast foods are served all day, too. Which is why, when I saw people ordering tacos at 8am, I almost changed my mind and got one of those instead. But I digress. The breakfast burritos were delicious. The chilaquiles were fabulous. The churros were(as expected) super yummy. I highly recommend this place. We will be back the next time were at Mission Beach. How lucky we are to have such yummy food in our neighborhood!

I stopped by this place after the Mayweather and Pacquiou ’15 game with a group of very disappointed &HUNGRY friends. We picked this place simply b/c of all the lights outside, and honestly, I should’ve known better than to just go for the«shiny object». As most of the people were visiting San Diego, we thought it was obligatory to get them carne asada fries! I ordered a box and got a can of coke. The total came out to be $ 10+. Slightly expensive to say the least, but i thought it’s fine, this place has good lighting, the food must be amazing! We got home, dug into the box, and… BLEH The carne asada was small — felt like I was digging for bacon bits. The guacamole looked like those that come in a container. The hot sauce was watered down and was probably the worst hot sauce I’ve ever had(and I’ve tried a LOT of hot sauces) And the cheese and the fries were nothing special. Definitely not worth the price! Moral of the story: check Unilocal reviews before entering, and NEVER just go for the«shiny object.»

Came here after walking around Belmont Park, and we were starving! We came here around 1PM on a Saturday afternoon! We ordered: Combo #5 that came with beans, rice, mini quesadillas and a carne asada burrito Pros: –Good portion size! They give you a good variety for a combo, and I love that it is piping hot when you bite into the burrito! –Good price! For a place next to an «amusement park», you would think that all the prices are sky high. But definitely filling and good prices per person! –Good service! Super friendly people, and if you dine-in, they bring it to your table. –A good variety of salsas. They have a little salsa bar right next to the cashier’s, so try all the sauces! –Meat is tender and juicy! One of my pet-peeves is if the food is not hot, and the meat is stale. This place does it right and definitely got me wanting more! Cons: –I like my tortilla to meat ratio as 1:1 as possible, but this burrito was like a 1:3 or even 1:4. Eventually the wrap was wrapped so many times I was just eating flour. Tips/observations: –Free water in the gatorade gallon device on the side! –There is also a to-go area outside… it seems like no one goes there though and uses the front entrance instead. Overall, if I am in the area, I will definitely eat this again! I hope they work on proportioning their meat to carbs ratio though!

Ordered 2 chicken tacos with the works on them. A little more expensive than most places for some tacos. For 2 tacos and a can of soda my bill was over $ 10. Maybe next time I should go on a taco Tuesday. The tacos were pretty good. My friend ordered a California burrito which he liked. We also ordered chicken enchiladas and they came out as plain cheese. When we went to tell them we paid for chicken ones they gave us a bunch of shredded chicken on the side. Somehow that makes it ok that they messed up? This place is ok, nothing to write home about. If I’m in the area and feel like Mexican I may stop by again.

A bit disappointing. Such a prime location on Mission Blvd and Mission Bay Dr, I guess they don’t care about much since business is good as is regardless. Inside is not clean and when the eating area is dirty, it makes you think what the prep/cooking areas must be like in the kitchen. Anyway, in terms of food the carne asada fries were whatever, portion huge though. The adobada torta was bleh. The toasted bun was the best component… the bun! The meat was so bland and dry. If you don’t know what adobada is, I believe it is the same as «al pastor.» I typically have had it as slow cooked thinly sliced pork. Someone told me that it’s referred to in southern Mexico as al pastor, in northern Mexico its adobada.

Breakfast burritos = good at Mr. Ruriberto’s. I can’t comment on any of the other food here since all I have eaten here is the breakfast burrito. It was huge, filled with egg and potato… hold the cheese, bacon and everything else because that’s just the way I am. Pick that sucker up, walk over to the beach, find a bench, pour some ketchup and salsa on top, gaze at the surf and prepare to be happy for the rest of the day.
