History

Established in 1980.

Founded in 1980 by Mexican immigrant Don Francisco, Monte de Piedad has been serving San Diego County’s residents for over 35 years. Don Francisco established a unique pawn company which focuses specifically on the customer’s needs. In 1980, this high level of service in a pawn shop was simply unheard of. He provided very high loan amounts and excellent service, and as a result, gained a loyal following with customers.

In October of 2005, Monte de Piedad opened its second location at 4587 University ave. Due to tremendous success and a crowd following, Monte de Piedad opened an additional 11 pawn stores during the following nine years.

Today, Monte de Piedad is one of the largest family-​owned Pawn Shops in California. Every day, we do our best to serve you, our customer. Our customers mean everything to us.
