Monte Carlo’s Hair Salon

I had a great time at this salon. I got waxing, a hair cut and my nails done alll in one place. Sarah, Madonna and Mal were the best at what they do! Definitely recommend sugaring. So quick and easy. :) Madonna was great at cutting my hair, her consult was dead on. With long hair she really listened to what i was looking for. My finger/​toes nails stayed wonderful.
I am not familiar with the area but everyone was so helpful. Definitely recommend and going back on my future visits.

Awesome awesome awesome! I had damaged my hair so much with heat and coloring, I honestly thought I was just going to have to cut it off. Orlando gave me a great cut that took off a lot of damage but let me keep length. It looks and feels so much better.

So my friend died my hair a couple weeks ago bleach blonde… And it was a big mess! The front looked good but the back was orange, yellow, brown, black even purple because of the shampoo I was using to help it. Most hair dressers wouldn’t have even helped me because my hair was already so dead from the bleach but Orlando offered too and he did a great job! I am so happy with my hair now :) he even gave me a really good price for everything… I am going back next week for extensions can’t wait!

I have never been to this salon, I don’t live in San Diego, and although I don’t know who posted this, it makes me very suspicious of this business.

Sorry for the late responds. But want to thank Orlando for my long layer hair cut, and I loved the fact he can actually straighten my curly hair. I have not found anybody who can actually straighten my hair without me going back home and fixing it.
I tell you that he treated me as if I was he’s regular customer he also pamper me with some delicious wine and mainly he focused on my hair. Orlando will do he’s best to give you want you want and love the fact that he is honest with his clients. I can’t wait to go back and get my hair done.
I didn’t have my pic done the day he did my hair. But will post some again next time I visit him… thank you Orlando.

I found Monte Carlo’s salon on Unilocal and all the reviews were great so I went there to find out my self. He is amazing he makes you feel amazing and the energy is great. He gave me long layers and i loved them he didn’t cut to much off my length and he gave me an amazing blow dry I felt like a million bucks walking out of there. I defiantly recommend coming to him.

Best haircut ever, with perfect service from Orlando and his gracious and attentive young assistant. The atmosphere was relaxing, the view amazing, and professionalism at the highest level. Definitely a good place to go. I totally agree with the outstanding previous reviews. Price is right too.
I got dozens of compliments (I’m just a schmoe kind of guy) just in a couple of days, with people asking me where I went. I told them to see Orlando at Monte Carlo’s.
Oh, the location is great with easy parking.

Me and my bf both had haircuts at the new site in UTC mall. It is located right across 24hr fitness. Orlando is amazing! He spent 2.5 hours perfecting our hair and we are very happy with the results. We came with two Groupon deals but he treats us as if we are fully paying customers. He has great personality, he listens to what we wants, and he doesn’t hurried us out. Our appointment is at 5, his assistant said they usually close at 6. But we were there until 7.30pm! I highly recommend this place!

I had a groupon for cut, style, and partial highlights. It was only $ 50 so I felt that I gave A LOT of leeway on professionalism because I was getting such a good deal. He must have forgotten that I said I had the partial highlights groupon (and not the one that included deep condition) because he put the conditioner in and just said I needed it and it would take an extra 15 mins so I agreed. He said nothing about charging me an extra $ 40 at the end (AFTER I HAD GIVEN A $ 35 TIP BECAUSE CAITLYN HAD WORKED SO HARD ON MY HIGHLIGHTS). He was confused at one point when I inquired about the highlights and what color to get because he had forgotten. I ended up spending 5 hours there. My parents were waiting for me because they drove down from LA for 2 of those hours. My friend and I were getting our hair done together but she was done long before me. We tipped together because of our situation with the bills we had. Then when I was done, I gave Caitlyn extra because even though it took so long, I was grateful she had worked so hard on my hair. As I was walking out, his other assistant told me it would be $ 40 for the deep condition. I had already tipped a lot and was just trying to get out of there to see my parents and confusedly scrambled money together by having to ask them.
If they had told me it would be extra, I would not have agreed. If he had remembered which groupon I had (Which I told him right when I got there) This might not have happened.
Ended up spending $ 50 (groupon) + $ 35 (Tip) + $ 40 (deep condition)
I wouldn’t have tipped so much had I been informed they would be charging so much for the deep condition. I ended up feeling tricked, frazzled, and wanting to cry over dinner with my parents.
The highlights were the only highlight of this experience.

Orlando is absolutely wonderful! He took such good care of my hair and was super detailed. Complete perfection! :)

I came into town with my Girlfriend and another Friend from Las Vegas. I’d spent four years growing my hair out, and I decided to get it cut. I called a few places, last of which was Orlando with Monte Carlo’s Hair Salon.
He was so nice and accommodating on the phone that I decided to book with him over the others. I was not disappointed. He is more than a hairdresser, he is an artist. Orlando loves what he does, and he does it very well. Instead of an open communal Salon, he has his own studio which makes the experience very personal and focused. It is the most comfortable and relaxed I’ve ever been while getting my hair cut.
My only regret is how far he lives from Las Vegas!

I recently moved from New York to La Jolla. I bought a groupon to get my hair cut and colored by Orlando. He had great reviews so figured I’d give it a try. Orlando was so welcoming and listened to exactly what I wanted. I have very long hair and keeping my length was super important. I absolutely love the cut/​color and style. I am so happy to find my new hair stylist here in San Diego and I will be sure to reccomend him to all my
friends!

Orlando’s passion for hair styling is what separates him from every other hair stylist I have ever been to! He is really good at what he does because he truly loves to do it. The amount of time and detail he puts into my hair cannot be matched! I will continue to go to him because he is awesome!
Not only that but his studio is in an amazing location too.

Orlando did an A-​M-​A-​Z-​I-​N-​G job. Not only is he a hard worker and cares for his clients, but he is EXTREMELY good. Let me start off by saying that I’m from San Francisco where there a lot of great salons. So when it comes to my hair, my expectations are high. I recently moved here about a year ago and was in search of a great stylist. I saw his advertisement on Groupon and of course, I checked him out on Unilocaled. Looking at his review, he had for the most part 5 stars with the exception of 1 that had a 1 star. That review does not reflect him as an individual and a superb artist. As a matter of fact, the person I met was the exact opposite. What’s important to note is I don’t care if you are the nicest person but, if you do a bad job on my hair, I will let others know. So please believe that this is truly an honest rating of his performance on my hair and customer service. Below are only a few reasons of why I think he is the best in San Diego:
1) I came in with a groupon, which he was aware of, and he took me in with open arms and a red carpet. He didn’t treat me any different compared to the others that paid the full price. We made an appointment and he stuck with it. When there were walk-​ins prior to me that would have been willing to pay full price, he treated me with enough respect and didn’t reschedule my time. In addition, not only did he respect me, but Orlando spent FIVE HOURS with me. Yup, five long hours to make sure I came out of there getting EXACTLY what I want. He spent his whole Saturday with me, from 7:30pm to 12:30 am, slaving on my hair, and he accepted my Groupon and did not charge me any more. (be sure to have a consultation with him to make sure you both are aligned with prices, if you’re using a groupon, and expectations on your hair).
2)I’m Filipino with fair skin and self-​made ombré (haven’t highlighted my hair for nearly 8 months) and I came in wanting balayage, a style of messy ombré. I brought in a picture of exactly how I want it done. And after five long hours and constantly looking at the picture I brought in, Orlando worked his magic, and vooooallla, I was transformed with this beautiful haircut and balayage.
If I can give this man ten stars, I would. Check him out and you will not be disappointed.

I had my hair colored and highlighted by Orlando who did a sensational job! I receive many compliments and referred a bunch of friends to him since they loved my hair.
So in closing if you need a new hair style for your profile picture online, or added highlights and just want to feel better about yourself, get a hot date, or to surprise your husband, go see my friend Orlando he’ll take care of you and make it happen!

Orlando never mentioned anything about it costing more than the $ 49 groupon, like I said prior when I asked him would it be anything more than $ 49? because I wanted ombré he said quote No hunny, what you see is what you get unquote. So he is lying with his comments above to save his reputation and business. I have nothing to gain from writing this review but to warn others!!! After he messed up my hair with the horrible 4 hour bleaching process that even caused chemical burn, he curled my hair to make it look half descent he had the nerve to ask if he could fix the color the following weekend free of charge because he didn’t like the outcome himself, so which I agreed but even my friends that night told me to demand my money back. I wanted to give him a chance to redeem himself and showed up that next Saturday. I asked if he could just color all my hair red he agreed. After the process he then had the audacity to try and charge me another $ 65!!! Are u kidding me? After all the damage he caused my poor fragile and now broken hair. Ofcourse I refused. Oh and not to mention another lie of his was him telling me to buy a good shampoo and conditioner he wanted to try and sell me the $ 45 serum for my hair because he knew how damaged he had now made my hair, I told him I could not afford it so he gave it to me free… I don’t use it because it makes my hair dry and crusty hard. He kept calling and texting me asking if I could please put a good rating on Unilocal which I never did so he also lied about saying I did… I couldn’t put a good rating because I’d be lying to myself, so I told him the truth and said I could not and why I could not and was very nice about it. I told him that if I were to put a review it wouldn’t be nice. He then called me numerous amount of times threatning me on my voicemail, good thing I saved all his voicemails. Being harassed by a hair stylist is just ridiculous. I also saved all of his and my texts and if he lies again in another comment I will take screen shots of our texts back and forth and put them on his Unilocal review. :) Sorry for such a long update but I’d like for everyone to know the truth about this man!

Orlando cut my hair last week and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone ! He made me feel important and pampered. The style has such a percise shape it was easy to do at home! I haven’t been happy with a cut ive had for 10+ years!

I LOVE THIS MAN! Went to him after seeing all the great reviews and now I understand why he has such a high rating! He is friendly, funny, charming, and most importantly — amazing at what he does! he listened to what I wanted and he definitely delivered! I wish I could take him back east with me, and I will DEFINITELY be seeing him again when I come back!

I have really difficult thick, curly/​frizzy hair. Orlando transforms it into light, silky, bouncy locks. You will get top-​quality hair-​care at a serious bargain (for now, until the word spreads). Be prepared for a long visit because he will take his time to perfect his work and make you look more beautiful than you ever thought possible. Plus, he is a darling.

Orlando was fabulous! He’s so friendly & passionate, carrying on a great conversation while caring for your hair :) I decided on highlights after not having them for a couple of years & his artistry made me so happy I did! I will definitely going to Orlando & would highly recommend him :)
