Excited to see what they come up with this year

If you come in knowing that this is essentially community theater; that high school students, high school teachers, and volunteers put it together; and that a portion of the proceeds go to charity, then it is easy to be impressed! The rooms are really dark, the scenes are pretty morbid, and the makeup/​props are pretty good. Groups of about 4 enter the house with a escort at the end. Customer service was great. Price, with groupon, was great. Overall, not a bad way to spend Friday night. Only bad part was the line was super duper loooong.

WOW! I was not expecting much from this, especially since their website says it’s kid friendly.
Me and my boyfriend got there and they seemed to be having some music difficulties, which i am assuming is why the line took forever, but regardless it was worth every minute in that line!
Once we got it, our group was made up of only 3 people (there was a single girl behind us who we invited to come with our group) so we were all alone in the pitch black dark at times!
They MUST go easier when little kids are in the group… because I am 22 and I was SCARED at times! Each corner and room is a brand new theme and every single time they got me! Some really awesome actors who will try to scare you at all costs and…

there is even a part where a girl is laying on a table screaming for help and a lady with an axe comes up to you and says «DO YOU WANT TO HELP HER?!»… my boyfriend said no (HAHAHA) and the lady walks up to the girl on the table and screams «HE DOESNT WANT TO HELP YOU» and as we are trying to walk through the room she chops off the girl on the tables leg and all this water squirts everywhere on you! SOOOO REALISTIC and it honestly had me screaming and running!
I am beyond pleased to say that this year me and my boyfriend did every haunted something in so-​cal (Screamzone, Balboa Trails, and Haunted Hotel) and this one was my favorite and most scary of all of them!!!
I hope everyone gives this a chance because it really is worth it!

Excellent job! We go to all of the haunted houses across San Diego and this is near the top. The actors called out my wifes name at every turn and made the group I was with, huddle in fear. Only wish it was longer and posted videos of individual groups for purchase. I would have loved to seen the reactions in replay.

It was around 8pm there was no lines for the tickets however the line to go inside of the haunted house was kinda long, it took over a hour waiting to go inside, there was 2 – 3 actors trying to scare people while waiting outside they were pretty good
Once we got inside it was dark and lots of scary figures, the zombies were my favorites
If you never been to a haunted house before you should check this one out
I got the tickets from living social 2 for $ 16
It was a small maze but so worth it the price

I went on friday night and to be honest wasn’t expecting much! Its located in the same plaza as target, babies r us & bobalicious. I’ve been to knotts scary farm, halloween horror nights, scream zone, haunted trails & the haunted hotel this maze was scarier than most of the ones ive been to because they only let ½ group in at a time rather than have you bum rush in.

Turned away 5 paying customers who drove 45 minutes just to visit their haunt. Even though they had just let a group in and we can actually hear them going through the haunt as I type this. No hours listed on their website but Unilocal says they are open today until midnight it is now 10:48 and they claim they are closed.
Ive been treated better at home haunts, really poor customer service.

Every time I come to Monster Manor, I’m always impressed. They have a new theme each year and they put a lot of creative effort into building a haunted house. Sometimes they surprise me by building a water fountain or using the Pepper’s ghost effect inside the house. Needless to say, Monster Manor never ceases to amaze me.
I also think the actors (or monsters) they have each year are great. As an annual community event, Monster Manor lets young actors in the Mira Mesa area take part in happily scaring guests. One thing I’d like to point out is, unlike most annual Halloween events, Monster Manor’s monsters never wield fake knives, chainsaws, or other weapons. Such reliance on weaponry is a cheap way to scare people and its unoriginal.

Scares the pants off me every year.
One of my favorite haunts in San Diego, and have been going since 2003
They’re non-​profit haunted house, and they take on a theatrical approach to scaring their victims rather than using loud noises at every turn.
Each year there is a different theme unlike that of previous years with a new layout and new surprises.
They also have a day time non-​scary haunt called «Lite Fright“that caters to children or those who can’t handle the night time haunt.
Sometimes the actors even screamed out the names of the people in your party! … it really freaked out my gf’s lol

Its great to have a place that caters to children as well as adults. I always have a great time at Monster Manor. They go all out when constructing their haunt. I appreciate that they take the time to do this for the community… and they do it well.
As for the previous review… would you take your child anywhere outdoors when its raining? No right? Always be prepared to know what your outside elements are and plan accordingly. To say that the people who run the haunt don’t care about the health of the children is ridiculous. I would have to say its quite the opposite. Take responsibility for your own.

My friends and I went to Monster Manor for the first time this year, and it was great!
We were greeted at the ticket counter by some creepy creepers, the costumes and decorations were pretty amazing, and there was something that made somebody jump around almost every corner.
If you don’t usually do haunted houses, here are some of the most important perks to Monster Manor…
1. The price is around 5 or 10 dollars, cheaper per ticket than other places in San Diego.
2. There was no line — A few years ago, I waited in line for a haunted house downtown for 3 HOURS!!! We watched a movie in line, twice. Not okay.
3. There is a kid-​friendly alternative (Lite Frite) at the same location.
4. Parking was a breeze, which is really significant when you are otherwise thinking of looking for a spot downtown (impossible) or in balboa park (not so easy either).
5. It was fun & spooky and got everybody in the Halloween mood!

MONSTER MANOR IS AWESOME!!!
I started working at the Monster Manor when I was in seventh grade. This volunteer event not only gave me the community service hours I needed to graduate but it also instilled a sense of community pride and taught me the importance of hard work.
As an actor it taught me the fundamentals of a successful performance: confidence and improvising skills
I was also able to make good friends that helped through high school and now into my adult life. The Monster Manor gave me a safe place to escape to when I had a stressful day. It has been 6 years now since i first started working there and I still go back for the people and the scares :)
And as a big sister to an idiot teenager, I strongly recommended this activity to my parents to keep my little sister out of trouble.
