This is definitely our favorite go to restaurant! We love it! I usually get the Marsala Chicken and my boyfriend gets the cavatappi sausage with pene noodles(this makes a big difference). We also get the fried calamari and it is sooo good! Love this place!

Mimmo’s is a moderately priced restaurant in the community of Little Italy in San Diego. You can spend a nice afternoon here in the area but make sure to get something to eat at one of the many restaurants. It is located on India Street on the 1700 block. They also have several«Stop n’ Go» shops with ready made sandwiches especially for the lunch crowd and the budget minded. At the main spot, the prices are a little higher, but your meals are freshly made with tons of options to choose from. Mimmo’s has the look of a small Italian Village inside, but surprisingly, it’s very spacious. The inside of the restaurant is made up of two main dining areas with three smaller rooms for private tables. Each individual area is unique with different décor and vibe. The main entrance and main rooms are surrounded by walls that are decorated to appear as though they are the outsides of small Italian style apartments. You can also sit outside on the patio to people watch and enjoy the nice San Diego weather. The complimentary bread and olive oil with herbs served before the meal was very tasty. I ordered the Chef’s Special Ravioli(Cheese Ravioli in Alfredo sauce) and it was delicious. The portions were just enough to finish by yourself. The Angel Hair and Chicken Pomodoro was also a delicious item! Honestly couldn’t go wrong with any of the selections that they had to offer. I would definitely recommend Mimmo’s if you’re in the mood for a nice and relaxing place to eat.

We had a lot of choices to eat at while we were in Little Italy, and we chose Mimmo’s Italian Village. I can say that the food did not light my fire or the others in my group. The Lasagna is how I rate an Italian restaurant and this one was just average, the others rated their food the same. Next time in Little Italy we’ll try another place and hope for good food and somthing special.

Awesome dinner! Server was fantastic and the atmosphere is outstanding. The risotto balls for an appetizer was so good!!! Food was outstanding! We will be back when we are in San Diego!

Terrible experience… We were visiting San Diego with the family last week and as we ended up in Little Italy around dinner time, we figured we should have some Italian food. Most restaurants were packed. The wait at Mimmo’s was tolerable, so we waited for a table. We were seated in the«heated» terrace, which was freezing cold, so we asked to change tables. The hostess was pretty accommodating in this regard. We ordered our food — it was 4 adults and 2 kids. When my mother and I asked for eggs on our pizzas, the waitress opened her eyes wide as if it was the first time she had heard such a request. Anyway… We waited, and waited, and waited… After over an hour wait, we inquired about our food. The waitress told us that she had just been informed by the chef that the request for eggs threw him off and it was taking a little longer for him to bake the dough… 15 – 20 minutes later, the«chef» brought out my pizza, which looked completely burnt, and he did not seem to be ashamed to bring this thing out… My mother’s pizza was not burnt, but tasted so bland that she only ate a couple slices. The eggs we had asked for turned out like they had been microwaved and were not edible. We had to tell our waitress that we would not be paying for my pizza, so the restaurant did not charge us for it(thank god!!). Overall TERRIBLE experience and we definitely will NOT return to Mimmo’s!

It is rare for me to not enjoy a restaurant in Little Italy but my experience here was quite disappointing. I had been looking for restaurants in the area to take family that was visiting from out of town and wanted to try something new. I read the reviews which were decent and made a reservation. From the beginning the service was poor and only continued as our server was non-existent for most of the night. Wanting it to be a special evening, we didn’t let it get to us as we were more excited to try the food. However, that was even more of a let down. We started off the some appetizers — the calamari and bruschetta. The calamari literally tasted like dirty sink water. We are big calamari fans but couldn’t eat more than a couple pieces. The bruschetta was ok, nothing special and pretty blan. We all decided to get a different pasta dish being in Little Italy but all of those were pretty basic, as well. Needless to say, we were pretty hungry when we left. I really wanted to like this restaurant but with the combination of poor service and bad food, it definitely is not on my go-to list.

Not impressed-we were sat outside«right under the heater». Except not-it was freezing. The food took quite a long time, and our waitress brought us some house bread to apologize. The house bread and oil were delicious. The garlic bread was dry and didn’t have much garlic flavor. I got the cheese lasagna-again, dry. It was also lukewarm. I ate it because I was starving. My husband got a pepperoni pizza. He said it was okay, but nothing to write home about. He said it wasn’t worth the price for the size, however. Finally, we ended with the pumpkin spice cake which were told by our waitress was«out of this world». It was mediocre at best, and for $ 7 is expect it to be larger than it was. We shared it and each got about three bites. If you’re in Little Italy, there are probably other choices that are much better.

Another amazing restaurant that we disvovered during our trip to San Diego is Mimmo’s in Little Italy. We went there for dinner last night. The place was pretty packed, but they manage to find us a small table at one end of their terrace. Both Richard and I were craving for Italian, and boy, we were not going to be disappointed! We started our dinner by sharing an order of Risotto Arancini. By far, the VERYBEST I HAVEEVERHAD(and I had got some great ones before). Our main dish was Fettuccine Bolognese. Although the pasta was slightly undercooked for my taste. it was simply DELICIOUS!!! Last night, Mimmo’s became officially our favorite Italian restaurant in San Diego!

This is a little Italy go-to for us when we have guests in town. Easy to make reservations, prompt seating, and great service. Great food, love the eggplant parm, sitting in the grotto is a real crowd pleaser!

Just celebrated my 45th birthday here! Overall, it was a joyous experience! The start was shaky, but it ended well. It was raining this evening when we we arrived. The reception area was out front. I tried to get under the awning so I wouldn’t get wet. I stood there for almost 5 minutes before the hostess acknowledged me. I had a reservation so once she decided to assist me, she showed me to my table. The interior is very lovely. Reminds you of Italy. I was impressed. A very classy establishment… The décor is beautiful and the restaurant is very spacious. Within your dining space, it is very intimate. My husband I were greeted by a polite server. I ordered a glass of cab as I waited for my daughter to arrive, which was around 30 minutes. The waiter knew we were waiting for her to arrive, but he was still very attentive. He came by and checked on us more than once. he finally said that he would come back by once she had arrived. but before he did so, we were brought the most delicious Italian bread with what tasted like rosemary infused olive oil. It was soooooooo darn good! I ordered a vegetarian pizza, the hubs ordered lasagna and my kiddo ordered the Mama Rosa pizza. all of the meals were well executed. Every dish was delicious and were made with fresh ingredients. At the end of the meal. the waiter(he got wind that it was my birthday) brought over a cannoli with a candle. and it was soooo delicious. Made my evening… The only reason I didn’t give this restaurant a 5 star rating was due to the hostess not acknowledging me upon me arriving after several minutes. I found it strange that she didn’t at least greet me and say that it would be a moment. I was close to tapping her on the shoulder… Other than that, this was a 5 star restaurant for sure. Located in beautiful Little Italy… It was truly a wonderful dining experience. I look forward to returning.

I had lunch at this restaurant today. I sat outside and received good service from the waiter. They give you fresh bread with olive oil that was quite tasty. I had the margarite pizza that had no flavor. Maybe I picked the wrong item. Don’t think I will be back.

The hubby and I stopped here for lunch today. We asked to sit inside and we loved the cute decorations and twinkle lights! Our service was 150% excellent, just as it was the first time we came here. We ordered a Margherita pizza and 2 pasta dishes. Every bite was absolutely delicious. Mimmo’s also has an extensive wine list. This restaurant is great for absolutely any occasion!

Loved the food! We did family style and shared. Service was good and we ate outside. Pasta dishes were tasty. View was great. There were a lot of Italian restaurants along this road so we had a hard time picking which one to eat so we picked this one and sat outside. Can’t go wrong with any dish I believe. Would definitely come back. p. S. — sorry for the middle finger in the picture my friend was goofing around

I’m not the most qualified to speak about authentic Italian food being that I have about 10 bottles of pasta sauce sitting in my pantry. Never been to Italy. I do watch the Godfather(I and II only) movies every year. I like to think that everything I know about being a father I learned from Vito Corleone. Anyways, I really enjoyed Mimmo’s. Little Italy is obviously crammed with Italian restaurants. You can’t throw a meatball 10 feet without hitting one. Thank the spirit of Luca Brasi that there is Unilocal to sift through the pasta. We went on a Sunday with the idea of «haven’t been there» and«more than just pizza». Based on it’s ratings we went to Mimmo’s. Our server Warren was really patient with us as we looked over the menu. They do offer lunch prices and the portions are appropriate. A wonderfully yummy complimentary bread is offered with olive oil. The bread was warm with a crisp crust but feathery soft inside. I had the cavatappi with sausage. I loved it. The spiral pasta was al dente and the sauce was creamy flavorful with just a hint of red pepper for heat. The sausage crumbles were plentiful and juicy. I wiped the bowl clean with the bread it was so good. My wife ordered an eggplant sandwich. It was good sized and well seasoned. The eggplant still had enough snap and wasn’t soggy. However I think the juice from the eggplant as well as the olive oil was a bit too much for the bread as the bread got a bit mushy. Kid one ordered a sausage and red bell peppers calzone. She did ended up picking out the peppers but otherwise she liked it a lot and would have finished it all if not for our warning of leaving room for dessert. Kid two ordered a pepperoni pizza(sigh). It was basically a personal pan pizza. If there is a lament it is that I wish we could have sat inside. It is decorated as if you are sitting in a small Italian village. However the AC was not working on an extremely humid day. I would have liked to soak in the inside ambience though there was a quartet of elderly gents conversing in Italian next to us outside. All I needed then was Dean singing«Volare.»

Talk about awesome dinner and ambiance! My fiancé and I had an incredible dinner and we are so happy we stumbled upon Mimmos! For once, I was super excited to sit INSIDE of a restaurant. The owners did an amazing job decorating! I really felt like I was either in Italy or Disney! They did such a great job making the restaurant look like an Italian village. The service was quick, and our server made great suggestions. I really enjoyed my lasagna, and my fiancé enjoyed his chicken parm! The table bread is also delicious and plentiful! Everyone loves a good Italian restaurant that does not skimp on the bread. Overall great dining experience. We will be back.

A pleasant environment, offers a unique environment. Outside seating in front and out back if you prefer to avoid the roaming pedestrians in Little Italy. Half-price bottles of wine on Wednesdays! What a deal! A balanced menu with staple dishes, yet offering items with the chef’s unique flare– nothing overly complicated. With a killer Mac and cheese with pancetta. MIMMO’s is a predictably wonderful place. Our server Paul was professional, attentive and helpful. Thanks!

I have to say that my fellow Elites must have been here on a good night. Have eaten here before, first couple times would have been 4 stars, and the last two maybe 3 stars, but tonight was a resounding«2» stars. Our server Wiston seemed capable, and he was certainly genuine and polite, but seemed a bit new to the service industry. Started with Pelligrino($ 6.00 for a bottle) and a bottle of a reasonably good SuperTuscan, value priced at $ 31.00. Let Wiston know that we wanted the Insalata Caprese, but if the tomatoes were not ripe to substitute the melon and prosciutto($ 9.00)…we wound up with the melon, which was hard, no real sweetness or flavor and the ham was meh. There were 6 pieces total, maybe 3 oz. The beet salad($ 7.00) was a complete letdown, mostly arugula dotted with small cubes of beet, goat cheese and walnuts. No strong dressing… just…lots of arugula. The special was ziti with sausage($ 13.00), my dining companion, the always lovely Jennifer, had the gluten free option($ 2.00 upcharge), and I tried a bit of the pasta… THAT was pretty good. I had the chicken saltimbocca($ 20.00)…and it was really bad. The chicken was actually seared to the texture of rawhide, and the prosciutto was fried to the consistency of crisp bacon. The whole dish was a disaster. We declined dessert and I barely made it home before my ass exploded. Will not be back, it is just too hard to justify paying over $ 100.00 for two people to eat dinner out when there are so many excellent options available these days. Good luck, and good night!

Food 3.5 but experience was a 4.5. Four places in one: casual boardwalk patio, inside a small bar, kitchy Disneyland-like set of Italy, and my favorite — upstairs, a back patio that’s elegant. Romantic — check! Intimate — check! Get a room — check! Prices, fair. Service, young and unrefined — borderline, unprofessional but oh so nice and effort was 100%. But sitting on that patio(which I wish my very own), was so very great. Fantastic for a date(for sure), a group date of 4, or a private party. Seats about 50. Wine menu is alright, filled with low and mid-tier selections(3.5 stars). The food menu is expansive. My choice: lasagna. A good portion, but little meat and I felt it was run of the mill with it’s boxed pasta noodles. I want thin, homemade… thank you.(3.5 stars) Would I go back to Mimmo’s when in Little Italy again? Sure, after I try a dozen other delicious looking places.

I’ve been here for dinner and I’m glad they have a lunch portion for a not so heavy lunch. Maybe the lunch portion was too light, I did feel that my $ 9 shrimp and pasta portion was a bit too little while my coworkers got more. The shrimp and linguine pasta was good and the shrimp portion was awesome but the noodle portion was a bit too little. About 2 – 3 forks servings and you were out. But it still tasted delicious. I guess for the price and noodle portion one can say it was a rip off, but I guess it’s not good to be extremely full either. Next time I’ll opt for something more filling or worth the price since they have many many options for lunches and even sandwiches.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for this place yet! I come here often and bring anyone who is visiting from out of town here. Everyone loves it! The Italian façade adds a nice touch to the atmosphere. The food is amazing. They do have gluten free pasta and pizza options which I love since I have to eat gluten free. They have recently updated their menu. They used to have a penne pesto which was amazing. It is now a penne pesto arugula dish which tastes even better! I was pleasantly surprised. The wine options are lacking a little… a lot of the wines are similar. The waiter explained it as when you come here pick a region to try rather than a type of wine. The service is always great here! I highly recommend adding this place on your list of must try little italy eateries!
