Not only do you get upscale food here, but you also get upscale service too! I have came here many times and I have never had a complaint. What’s the most annoying problem you have when going to a restaurant? The food wait times! Not here. The food comes out unbelievably quick. Great servers and staff all around. My favorite Mexican food place! Try the Surf & Turf tacos or burrito.

The white sauce is addicting. Solid food at fair prices with consistent service. Come with friends and enjoy the night.

First off, the employees, server & manager were extremely nice & accommodating! Chips & white dipping sauce were extremely good. The ceviche was tasty. Unfortunately, I felt the main dishes our group ordered were only mediocre & the rice & beans did not cut it :(

From the moment I walked in the service was great. The atmosphere casual and relaxed. Sit inside, outside, by the fire or in the lounge. Menu has a lot to choose from. Drinks are good and not watered down. Definitely a new favorite of mine.

This place was alright. Ordered the surf and turf wet burrito and it was fine. There were a lot of French fries in there. The shrimp was a bit dry but the carve asada was tasty. I ordered a side of corn tortillas and that was the highlight. I believe they make their own homemade corn tortillas which was not only awesome, but super tasty.

This place is A-okay! Came on a friday night, it was pretty packed and there was a short wait(15 – 20 minutes). Chips, salsa and white cheese were served immediately. They were good. Ordered guacamole to start and a combination plate. Son ordered the surf and turf burrito which he LOVED. My combo place was a-okay but our guacamole never came. This ended up being for the best because we were pretty full! Aside from the guacamole not making it’s way to our table(didn’t make its way to our receipt either so no harm no foul), the service was great(especially given how crowded the restaurant was).

I have been to Miguel’s many times over the years but decided to take a pic of my food today and give it a review. Overall, I enjoy coming to Miguel’s and recommend it if you’re in the Pt. Loma area. Today the service was very slow and subpar. We were quickly served salsa, white sauce, and chips but it took almost 10 mins for someone to take our drink order(Glad one of us didn’t choke on our chips.) I ordered the carne asada torta with beans. The bread was fresh, and perfectly toasted where it was soft in the middle but crispy on the inside. The meat had a good flavor, however, it was served as a whole piece and I prefer it cut up so it makes it easier to bite and the whole steak doesn’t come out of the sandwich. The steak also didn’t cover each side of the sandwich completely; it was mostly bread and lettuce. I was very disappointed that it only came with one thin slice of avocado on one side and one tiny, less than a bite size, piece on the other side. Overall flavor 4/5, portion 2⁄5 stars. My beans were also not very hot, they were warm at best. I would’ve asked for more avocado and hot beans however as I said before the service was subpar today. So I ate it because I was on my lunch break and needed to get back to work. If I were only reviewing today’s experience of give them 2 stars, however, cumulatively I give them 4 star.

Sometimes you wanna go donde todos sabes su nombre. I come here once a week. I’m a huge fan of everything they do. I have a Miguel’s habit. I partially blame the white sauce, which very well may include crack. I also blame their entire staff, because they make it feel like a second home and I miss it when I’m away for long. The things you must have: Carnitas plate Fish tacos Caldo 7 mares Chicken Caesar salad Calamari relleno You can’t really go wrong with their specials, they rotate approximately once a month. Happy hour deals are great, it starts pretty early at 3:30. Open seating is always available upstairs in the lounge area, you can skip the wait and grab a table or barstool. But please keep a seat open for me.

Me and my wife had come to Miguel’s Cocina right after our first year of marriage and had stumbled upon this place by accident. It was a great little place and food was memorable and I’m a bit of a Mexican food snob. It just has to be done right and there has to be some authenticity. Fast forward 5 years,…We were back in the area and had to look up the place again. Imagine hearing the«price is rights» loosing buzzer. Food was OK, but the service sucked. Our waiter completely forgot about us and what is worse,… He didn’t even apologize. I figured this must not be his day, but the place was not to full capacity. I hate the fact that we searched all over to find this place again only to be disappointed when we got there.

I’ve visited this place several times on travel to San Diego and I’ve never been disappointed. One of the few Mexican restaurants that gives you queso in addtion to the salso for the complimentary chips. Iv’e ordered everything on their menu from the chimichanga to the enchiladas to the whatever was on the daily special and it’s all been fantastic! The servers are friendly and quick. The bar has a couple TVs with the game on. And if you visit during the spring or fall eating outside is just perfect with the view of San Diego proper Coronado and North Island. Parking is tricky as Miguel’s lot is on the south and east side of the building. Don’t park along the building where the bank is unless you want to get towed!

Came in the back way and was surprised to see so many people having lunch here. Asked for a place outside and was politely introduced to the corner of the deck overseeing the front parking lot and main road, but thoroughly enjoying the 72 degree weather and Pacific air. The nachos came automatically with salsa and a creamy white cheese sauce with the perfect amount of bite. Cristen ordered the Enchiladas Suizas and thought they were average, and wished she had ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos. I ordered the steak Milanesa I think is what it’s called(see pictures) — this dish is why I put this place over the top amazing… I’ve never had lightly breaded steak stuffed with cheese and jalapeño peppers — for a big guy that likes spice, this is the PERFECT combination and I will order the same thing the next time I come here! Wait staff was attentive keeping our drinks full, and the meal was absolutely pleasant with a quiet atmosphere and light Mexican music in the background. You could hear the planes from the airport, but on a day like this we HAD to be outside! For $ 37.15 before tip for two of us, I’d highly encourage Mexican food lovers to not skip this place if you’re in San Diego.

We enjoyed our meal at Miguel’s last night. It was nice to see the amount of people waiting outside because it meant it was good! Our wait was about 20minutes(not too bad for a Saturday). We got free chips and salsa(and white sauce-yum!) The service was good. Our server had a large party, so it took awhile to get our refills, but otherwise he did great. The food was good!

I have always thought myself to be a big fan of Miguel’s. I mean… They serve queso dip complimentary with the salsa #winning. This visit though, was unlike the rest. The service and quality of food was not up to my typical standards. Let’s start with the service– I came with a party of 8 and we did have reservations. We sat outside on the patio. The server immediately greeted us, but then it took quite some time to bring our drinks. Once everyone had their drinks for a while, we had to flag down the server to order a second round and put in our food orders. The server seemed extremely overwhelmed and anytime we asked for something(like more chips) it seemed like we were making him go out of his way. Now the food– I ordered the pollo asada burrito. Usually, my go to at Miguel’s. This time it was completely dry and unappetizing. It was supposed to be covered in enchilada sauce and queso and there was barely any at all. I think next time I am looking for Mexican food, Miguel’s will definitely not be my first choice.

First time here and it was ok. My beef enchiladas were alright and my daughter surf & turf was good. The best one was my husband’s order of chicken chimichanga. I’ll have to get that next time. We also liked the tender calamari. I’ll have to come another time to try out other food. The ambience is quaint and very nice. Service was great.

I’v came to this location a few times, I like the one in Old Town a bit more but this location is good. Just don’t get too adventurous, I usually just stick to the happy hour menu and the TJ Street Tacos, can’t beat 3 tacos and a beer for under $ 10. The albondigas soup is also pretty good but other than that I wouldn’t go too crazy with the menu.

Very tasty fish tacos, and a good size with plenty of fish. The salsa and queso were also good, though the chips weren’t the most flavorful. Good service. Was not too busy for lunch. The Arnold Palmer wasn’t so good… I think they need a better lemonade.

Saw this on our way back to the Halfmoon Resort on Shelter Island, had a taste for Mexican food so this seemed like an obvious choice after looking on Unilocal. The 1st floor was closed for walk in guests. I believe he said that it was a private party, we were told 15 – 20 but then it changed to 5 – 15 minutes and then we were sat like 2 minutes after the 2nd time quote. We sat upstairs on a closed in patio with heaters. It was a nice space that felt like we were outside but where we could be comfortable. We sat down and got the chips and salsa right away, warm fresh tortilla chips lightly salted, salsa it was pretty good flavorful, then I tried this addicting cheese dip and just like many wrote on Unilocal it was addicting, it never got clumpy or hard, it stayed creamy and had a really nice flavor! My daughter got some guacamole that everyone really liked. I ordered Miguel’s Margarita, it was good, very good not too sweet just the right amount of tequila. I shared steak fajitas with my mother in law, the steak was a little chewy for me but the vegetables were cooked to a nice tenderness & the flavor was good, tortillas were a little over steamed, my father in law got a cheese enchilada it was crazy good, my husband had tacos and he was happy with his meal. The rice and beans were good. The server started off amazing on point with everything, then he seemed to get overwhelmed or he was over-sat because he started to rush and my father in laws meal was a little slow coming out. I definitely would eat here again! Everything was priced competitively to other Mexican restaurants in the area.

A friend and I decided on this location, because I had been to the Miguel’s in Coronado prior and it was all around fantastic. Upon arrival here, we were greeted and I asked for a booth because my toddler was asleep on my shoulder. After several minutes later she agreed to let us sit in a booth. Then my friend and I were discussing what to have as well as what to drink. No one informed us of happy hour from 2−6PM. We were there at 5. Normally this would not upset me, but it did this time for two reasons. 1) This is a fairly expensive restaurant for mediocre food. 2) The waitress was folding napkins right next to our table for nearly the entire duration of our visit, and chimed in on interesting parts of our conversation which made for a less than expected experience. Therefore, I know she heard us ask about margaritas and food. No one came back to refill drinks or let us know where the kids’ food was. Next, as we were about to leave and our kids had woken up and finished their meals(which were delayed 30 minutes). They were being kids. Laughing, playing and talking to one another. Then this group of people came in(apx. 5) and sat at the table next to us(Their choice by the way). Then, they started making remarks about our children being wild and out of control. Expressing loud sighs and giving us «aren’t you going to shut them up» looks. That is not okay to be treated that way. The staff ignored us from that point on which only added fuel to the fire. It’s not like it is an upscale restaurant where it is frowned upon to bring kids. I took our kid’s outside, because I was at my snapping point. My friend was already at her point and the staff dismissed her concerns completely. So, we will not be returning. Maybe if the margarita tasted better I wouldn’t have cared: P

I love the food here. This place is amazing. The fact that you get queso instead of salsa is amazing. The reason for the 3 stars has everything to do with the the miserable time I have had with the delivery service at Miguel’s. There is a joke in our house that if you order delivery from Miguel’s they will mess the order up, if it shows up at all. It’s never a matter of if, rather it’s how. Every time we call for delivery we spend at least 5 minutes on hold while they find someone able to process a delivery order. We have had the wrong food show up, half of an order correct, the same driver at our house multiple times a night. Management has always been really nice about the mix ups. Once I get some of the queso in me it doesn’t seem as if it’s a big deal anymore. If you read this review, by all means, go to Miguel’s. The food is amazing. Just don’t get it delivered!

This is my first time to Miguel’s Cocina. I’m impressed! I was greeted so friendly at the door. Had the option of indoor or outdoor seating. Everything looks so fantastic on the menu that I couldn’t decide! My server was Maxine & she made a recommendation that sounded too good to turn down. My wine came quickly, the service was top notch, the food was amazing & I will absolutely be back! Thanks Miguel’s & Thanks Maxine for the awesome suggestion!

Miguel’s is one of our fave Mexican restaurant. Haven’t been here for a long time. They serve you right away the warm chips and salsa & white cheese jalapeño dip. Hmmmmm! Yum! I always loved their Carnitas plate with corn tortillas and rice and beans. Delish! Huge plate took the rest to go! Best Mexican restaurant in town. Fast service and friendly waitress named Marlyn. I gave them 5 stars! No waiting in line tonight. Well, I guess I’m coming back again here soon.

This place has really good food, but it’s fairly expensive for Mexican food. If you’re looking for fast, cheap Mexican food, this is not the place. Miguel’s is a sit-down, cantina type Mexican restaurant, where you’re paying for the service and the quality of the food. I went to the Miguel’s in 4s ranch and had an average experience, but this location was much better. We were seated immediately at prime dinner time. The server was nice, and was kind enough to give us happy hour prices at 6:00 on the dot and not in the bar area. The chips were plentiful and fresh, the salsa was delicious and the perfect amount of spicy. The queso is delicious, but beware it is a belly buster if you have any sensitivity to dairy/heavy cream. Don’t eat a whole lot of it if you don’t have a stomach of steel. The carnitas plate is spot on. They serve a generous portion of marinated pork, cheesy beans, rice, with a side of avocado and tortillas. The $ 12 seems pretty average for sit-down modern Mexican food. The other people dining with me also enjoyed their meals a lot.

I’ve been going here for as long as I can remember! This place is, hands down, the original hot spot for the jalapeño «white sauce». It’s so freaking delicious I could eat it with a spoon(although I don’t recommend doing that) ;) The service has always been a bit on the slow side but it’s good. I always get the jumbo shrimp enchiladas, which come with the famous«white sauce». Parking can get rough around lunch time.

Man… We come here too much. Seriously. All the time. Weekly. I love Miguel’s. They feed us copious amounts of queso. Too much queso. No such thing, let’s be real. Every special I get is delicious. I wish they would add the surf & turf skewers with the black rice blend permanently. So delish. I always try something new and its always delicious. I’ll be going tonight. I can’t wait!

Had reservations at 630 on a Monday, since it was hubby Bday! There wasn’t a lot available parking so we ended up driving to the front. They sat us upstairs at a long table. Immediately took our drink orders & gave us tortilla chips with salsa & amazing white cheese jalapeño dip. I couldn’t stop eating it. addicting! Hubby ordered swordfish grilled tacos & I ordered number uno combo. Comes with cheese enchilada & fish taco, Spanish rice and beans. I also ordered a Malbec & he had a Pacifico. His swordfish tacos were good, I should have ordered those. My fish taco was fried with cabbage and cheese in a corn taco. The enchilada was tasty & rice and beans typical of Mexican restaurant. Next time I’m trying the swordfish or the shrimp enchilada.
