Very nice, fast and honest. I got a prognosis for my tablet laptop and the visit was painless. I was told my options and he was honest about the reality of my situation. The prognosis was free of charge and quick, like not even 5 minutes.

This place has saved my neck more than once. I have received service for a long line of computers here for nearly a decade, and my experience has always been excellent. High quality work, done right. I consistently refer my friends to MD Computers and they have had nothing but the best to say about the work and the prices.

One of the most unprofessional business experiences in memory.
My iomega 1tb external was knocked off of my desk by my 2 year old daughter in July of 2010. I’m a graphic designer, and this was my primary backup drive. Over 2 years and countless hours & dollars worth of work was stored on this drive.
After an extensive online & phone search of driver repairers, I settled on MD. They seemed knowledgeable enough over the phone, and they had a good star rating on Unilocal.
Sidebar #1: I was relatively new to Unilocal in July. When a business has a 4.5 aggregate star rating, but only 4 reviews, the star rating means virtually nothing. FYI for any new Unilocalers reading this.
So I drove my external drive down from San Elijo to Kearny Mesa. Price structure was explained to me. Their drive recovery fees are equally unreasonable as anyone else’s. Quintessential example of gouging people who are in a desperate place.
Sidebar #2: I’m thoroughly convinced that if a reliable drive recoverer would charge a decent rate, he’d be a billionaire in 6 months.
But I needed my data, so I agreed to the price. I was totally willing to spend $ 1000 or more to recover my data. I was in the middle of editing a $ 4500+ design job, and all of my source files were on this drive. Money really wasn’t the issue.
The issue was communication. I waited a week to hear anything back. Nothing. So I called and was told «We should be able to get about 70 – 90 percent restored». Awesome. Totally excited about that. Waited another week. Heard nothing. So I called back again. Different story this time. Something about ordering a part from Japan, and not confident at all of any restoration.
Waited another week. Heard nothing. Called. No progress. Called several more times over the next couple weeks, and either couldn’t get through to anybody, or there was no progress.
That was August of 2010. This is February of 2011.
Still waiting…

I’ve been here twice when my laptop crashed or files disappeared! They have always been quick, reasonably priced and very nice. It’s been about a day both times. Don’t think about it, just go! They do answer some questions on phone if that’s needed first.

When your personal precious laptops break down, you just want to get them back in life as quickly as possible.
I appreciate the support from them and complete explanations which are easy to understand even for a basic user like me. The job was complete for a short period of time, and didn’t cost much.

Had a problem with the fan for my HP Pavilion laptop. I called around several places, but these guys were the best at offering me some kind of guidance as to what the price range would be (most places don’t want to say anything until they see the machine).
When I brought it in, they diagnosed the problem, offered a competitive price, and fixed it within a day or so. Has worked fine ever since.

Female supervisor who helped me was very rude. I was quoted ~ $ 189 for virus removal and they tried to sell me some software. I ended up being able to fix the problem myself anyway using a registry cleaner.

I brought in my laptop because it wouldn’t turn on. I initially suspected a problem with the battery but that was fine… turned out my computer overheated and the motherboard needed to be soldered. They charged a very reasonable price (flat rate not per hour) and my computer was ready by the next morning!
