We asked if they could resurface a fly-​wheel (that we had already removed) but insisted that they needed to inspect the car first. If you have the equipment to do minor work without all the labor, why wouldn’t you price it accordingly and do it for customers?

This was the worst mechanic I have ever been to. They don’t know what they are doing and they were extremely rude. Do not take your business here. I have never felt so disrespected by a mechanic and am shocked by the lack of knowledge this guy has.

What great service! Tuan, the owner, is very thorough and gave me great advice on what to keep in mind for further service to my car. He’s really nice and the oil change I got on my car was done really fast. Pricing was incredibly reasonable. Will definitely come here again.

I am a student at SDSU and I heard about Maxoto through APSA’s annual Fashion Talent Show. I initially came in because I needed an oil change and the shop I usually went to at the time was closed, but little did I know I would become a regular and a loyal customer.
Tuan, the owner, is a very kind, honest man. He is very welcoming and he always considers the needs of his customers. He is very fair with his pricing and he talks you through the entire process. They are very honest about what repairs you need more urgently and which you can hold off on. They are very timely with their repairs and get your car back to you as soon as they can.
I drive a 1998 Lexus GS300 and I got into a car accident that left my hood dented and unable to close leading me to using bungee cords to close it. I dropped my car off for a hood repair as well as a transmission flush and they called the same day telling me my car was ready for pick up. I got my car back very happy with the results and with the affordable price!
I am very impressed with the professionalism of Maxoto and would recommend the shop to anyone! They are now my go-​to place!

They must use a Jump-​To-​Conclusions Mat (office space reference, duh) to make diagnoses on cars. They quoted me an insanely high quote right when they got the car, then kept changing the diagnosis and price. They said I needed a new transmission. I actually needed new spark plugs. Went to another mechanic and spent about two thousand less than what his quote was. Really dumb.

The owner Thuan knows exactly how to handle customer service and his business. He knows his way around cars and definitely keeps his customers in mind instead of trying to make a quick profit. I work on cars myself and know my way around them, but I’m also a full time student so I can’t always do the work myself.
My friend also came in to get her 2003 Montero Sport looked at because her cooling system went to pieces. After a couple thousand dollars of only the necessary repairs and no extra charges, she was back on the road.
Would definitely recommend to anyone I know.

So I was thinking about just buying a new car, but decided to see if it was worth dropping the money to fix it. They went through the process of letting me know what my options were, generally what was wrong, and helped me come to a solid conclusion that it was worth fixing.
They were honest enough to tell me that I couldn’t/shouldn’t pick up and drive the car because something broke while they were fixing it. I don’t know if it’s general wear and tear and it was already broken or it somehow broke as they were fixing it, but either way, it’d probably would have been something easy enough to hide since I probably wouldn’t have figured out what the problem was.
The job took longer than anyone assumed it would… Again, this would seem like a bad thing, but Tuan was definitely being thorough. He looked into issues that I didn’t even pay him to look into because he wanted to do a good job. The front desk staff was good at communicating and sending updates.
It still is unclear whether or not my car is 100% fixed of all the issues that I wanted them to address: only time will tell. But I feel good about what I had them do, and the prices they charged, and all of the in-​depth explanations they gave about what each repair would/wouldn’t do and how much I did or didn’t need it. Of course, with any mechanic, you have to ask the right questions and make sure that you’re not taken advantage of, but overall, I feel really good right now about the service that I got.
Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. I leave that for last, because most people would say, «I don’t want a nice mechanic, I want a good mechanic.» But it seems like they’re great (again, only time will tell), AND they’re also friendly.

Great little spot for any service on your vehicle. They do almost anything here. Plus the got a nice tv system to wait for your oil change.

I went to this place based on the Unilocal reviews. My VW was leaking oil. and asked them to check it out. They said offer a diagnostic service which cost $ 80.00. I said fine I waited about 45 minutes they came back with a report saying that the engine needed to be resealed they also recommended I replace the engine. A couple of days later I took the car to a place I had major service done before.
They put the car up on a lift and with in 15 minutes told me the oil filter was loose and that was where the leak was coming from. To be sure he sprayed wash underneat the engine to be sure it was not leaking anywhere else. I went ahead and did an oil. change and has not leaked since. You would think during an inspection a mechanic would check the oil filter for leaks I don’t think this place did. So I wasted my money and time here I will not be coming back and will not reccommend

I’ve been getting my oil changed here for the past year and I just brought my car in for some brake service and I must say Maxoto is the most honest reliable auto mechanic I know in all of San Diego county. They explained everything to me in a manner in which I can understand. Tuan and Tracy are so very friendly and welcoming they make you feel like family. I recommend Maxoto to all my friends and family. This place is the absolute nuts. 20 stars A++++++ don’t go anywhere else

Bought my car through here, was willing to find other places for auto services only to be impressed with the timely professional service. Will continue to bring my car here for service regardless of the fact that I purchased it here. Oil change is quick and they inform you of the Unilocal coupon! Have been to similar shops that don’t have this level of service and professionalism! Due yourself a favor and get you car taken of and better yet, get your car taken care of-​HERE!

I love this place, honest and affordable! I brought my 2004 Mercedes E500 in for 90k service. They priced much less than I got it quoted at the dealership. They were honest enough to tell me what needed to replace and whats not, so that I didn’t have to pay extra for something is/​are still good. This place will be the only place where I will bring my car for oil change and service.

No one wants to have their car break down and panic about where to take it. This is the best auto repair shop I’ve come across. They’ve done great work on my Toyota truck and my vette. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.
