Living Room Coffeehouse

While walking to another location for breakfast we came across this place. A gentleman in the deck said this is a good place for breakfast and he was correct. My breakfast burrito was outstanding and the fruit was delicious too, coffee’s not bad either. Will eat here again soon.

I come here once or twice a week with the girl I nanny. We love the service and the food/​coffee! The owner is so sweet, and it always feels like home! The Vietnamese coffee and the salmon plate are my favorites! And the brownies are a big hit with the kiddo! :)

I love the living room. I come here to work on nursing which can get depressing but at least I can stuff myself with the tuna sandwich. Took off 1 star because it’s crowded sometimes.

I love the view this place has they are what make this place. However this place is not the best living room that honor goes to the one by SDSU. The coffee is nothing new ya it better then Starbucks but in SD that not hard to do. I do like the hooka here but the price is not great they are just ok. If you like ocean views and want so coffee/​hooka this is the great place for you.

The Living Room Coffeehouse is a quaint old home in the cute little town of Point Loma. We walked over there from the bay. It was a nice walk and a fun treat to walk into this sweet old home all set up for coffee etc. We were there for breakfast. My husband had the eggs, fruit and toast. The eggs were cooked just the way he had asked, the toast was good, and the fruit had a nice variety; strawberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, and grapes. they even brought this cute little basket with the jelly, ketchup, salt and tabasco sauce. It was all very good. I had the Acai bowl. I was a little reluctant because i usually go to a place in Orange County called Banzai Bowl and that is one of their main items so I was not sure if I should order one or not. The service was great and the gal was very sweet to come over and let me know that they do not use apple juice any longer but cranberry, lemonade or orange juice. I was a little disappointed but honestly it tasted better to me with cranberry so that was a fun experiment. It was made with granola, Acai smoothie, strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. I added my own honey that they had on the condiment table. I do usually like coconut, but this had a very nice flavor and was very good. The only thing I would say, it was not a smoothie on the bottom it was more of a liquid. If it had not looked so pretty and made with tic i may have asked her to thicken it up, but it had a great taste. I also had the house coffee with half and half and my husband had the English Breakfast Tea both were very good. We took a tour around the house and many were there; working, studying, or with friends. It was a nice environment and we would go there another time, if ever staying at shelter island again. We love San Diego!!!

The Iced Vietnamese drink at this location is the very best! This has been our go-​to spot for this for a few years now.
Recently we had an issue with the drinks not being made right. A simple call and my drinks were taken care of the next time I went! In all the time I have been a customer this was the only time there was a problem, and it was handled perfectly!
Highly recommend you try this spot if you haven’t already!

Two stars for the potential this living room has. My mother came in from out of town to visit and we thought coffee and a nice dessert somewhere new would be great.
The coffees besides the original roast were way too sweet. The pastries we tried were dry and flavorless. One was the carrot cake and I don’t remember the name of the second one both went into the trash.
But aside from the food service was really good staff was nice and prompt.
However the quaint little house needs a lot of love and attention. It was dirty dark and dingy. It was after Christmas and there were still Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations up. It all just feels really neglected. Baseboards are scraped up, with dust and dirt on them, the sugar and cream table was sticky, and the bay window on the entrance was very dusty.
Maybe this place used to be great but it definitely needs some TLC, a fresh coat of paint, a wipe down and a pastry review. Im sure it can come back around.

Very disappointing experience. Long wait for the food, the food came out cold and there were missing items listed on the menu (the tortellini didn’t come with the veggies as advertised). Servers were rude. Wouldn’t come back.

If you aren’t in a hurry, just went for a Shelter Island or La Playa Trail walk, and you’re looking for a casual breakfast & coffee or tea, this is the place. Very homey, funky, local. The tiny kitchen sometimes gets overwhelmed, but if you’re in the mood to rest your legs and relax a while, it’s great! The people who work there are so sincere, service-​oriented and work hard to deliver your order as quickly as they can. I just love them!

It seems to be one experiment after another. I am tired of tipping for poor service and sub-​standard products. Reminder to self, never visit this depressing spot again.

Took over 20 minutes for a simple salad. Salad was bland, dry and sparse. Interior needs to be updated.

It’s ok, I like the idea and the Vietnamese coffee was good. Expensive and stuffy tho. Parking can be an issue. The coffee wasn’t anything special IMO. Service was mediocre

Free WiFi and comfy sitting area. The decos are just a little spontaneous at points but nothing of an eye sore. Very simple, nothing overly special about the drinks. They got my friends order wrong but we’re super apologetic about it, and quick to fix the mistake. Great service!

I really enjoyed the set up inside and the baklava rolls were super yummy! Excelelnt coffee shop atmoshpere.
The barista gave us everything in to-​go containers even though we said we were staying because she didn’t want to do dishes… ummmm…wouldn’t you want your customers to stay and enjoy themselves???
ANyway, tea and desserts were awesome so I will probably go back.

Lovely spot in Point Loma. Plenty of seats and options to drink. It is also a great people watching spot, located on Rosecrans, in the middle of all the action.
My beef: the iced coffee was clearly hot coffee poured over ice. This is not acceptable for iced coffee in 2015. Come on!

I’m sorry to rate this place so low but it just isn’t the same as it used to be. I lived in the neighborhood for four years and this was always my go to. The staff was always friendly, the food was always fresh and delivered quickly, and the drinks were superb.
Now that I live east, a trip down the peninsula warrants a stop at my favorite café. Unfortunately the last five times I’ve been here, there has been something left to be desired. The mocha freeze was chalky, lacking the chocolatey yumminess it used to possess. My sandwhich was prepared incorrectly a few times and even when it was finally right, the croissant tasted stale. The sides of fruit have diminished in size and freshness. And the customer service? Meh. The girl running the counter today was quick to have an attitude with customers, hardly smiled, and moved at the pace of a snail. I’m all for being easy like Sunday morning but does it really take 20 minutes for one sandwich?
There’s a reason this place is more and more empty each time I go. And I never thought I would say this but I’m finding less and less of of a reason to stop by which is the saddest part of all.

Cute spot. 3 stars because the cashier totally got my order wrong and my husband had to repeat himself 3 times until she got it right.
Besides that, nice place. Cool concept. It’s like someone’s living room. Not just a clever name. Super basic menu. I asked for a chai tea latte with soy, hot and she gave me a soy tea cold. It was not terrible and I assume someone orders it a lot because she didn’t question if she got it right or not.
They bring the food to you wherever you’re seated so that’s cool. Apparently there’s an upper level with wifi. Didn’t take too much time to wonder. Probably not my favorite spot but I liked it nonetheless.

Nice little coffee house that lives up to the name. literally a house converted into a business that is located on the main Boulevard of Point Loma/​Shelter Island. Once you walk in you automatically walk into the past with the feeling of a Victorian style décor. Front porch and rear deck has tables and overhead lighting like a home. Perfect for late night studying or just hangin’ out with friends. Full coffee menu to accommodate all your coffee and tea needs. I had the house roast with a extra shot and cream for the long drive home. Pastries are also on the menu but passed on the sweet stuff and opted for a healthy chocolate chip cookie in the shape of a heart. Ample parking at rear of building and street. Open late as oppose to everything else nearby, it’s all closed.

Love their teas (vanilla and orange especially) and the nut baklava rolls are to die for.
I dig this place.

I came to Living Room a couple times when I was visiting San Diego and loved every visit.
Each time I got their Chai Tea Latte with either coconut milk or almond milk. Which one is better? The coconut, hands down. But that’s not to say it wasn’t great with the almond milk.
The environment is super laid back and if you go upstairs there are tons of couches and tables that make it look like a plain old «Living Room.» It seems like people were mostly using that area to study/​read so I avoided this area and sat outside with a friend.
I highly recommend Living Room especially if you’re looking for a relaxing place to hangout.
