~La Gran Terraza, located on the campus of USD, is an
elegant bistro featuring fresh California cuisine with a
healthy Mediterranean flair. The Grand Dining Room
and outdoor Terrace overlook Tecolote Canyon and
Mission Bay.

History
Established in 2009.
La Gran Terraza is USD’s flagship restaurant for students, faculty, staff and the San Diego community. We are located on the beautiful USD campus overlooking Mission Bay and Tecolote Canyon.
Meet the Manager
Andre M.
Manager
Andre Mallie is the Executive Director of Auxiliary Services at the University of San Diego. Andre manages all aspects of La Gran Terraza Restaurant from the design to the menu. Prior to joining USD, Mr. Mallie was the General Manager, Auxiliaries, at Northern Michigan University; and the Senior Director of Business Enterprises at California Institute of Technology where he managed all aspects of dining services including special events for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). Mr. Mallie’s education includes a BTS (Brevet de Technicien Superieur) in Culinary and Hotel Management from the Academie de Bordeaux, Bordeaux, France, 1981. In 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006,2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014, Mr. Mallie’s dining operations received numerous national awards, including Loyal E. Horton Gold Medal and Grand Prize awards in Catering, Retail and Residence categories.
