Kevin Kane – State Farm Insurance Agent

I wrote my first review several years ago. Since then I have been in a horrific car accident that was my found to be my fault. It totaled my SUV and probably the other driver’s car. State Farm didn’t give me a single problem paying out the money. They barely upped my rate. They were incredibly understanding. I’ve since moved away but have stuck with State Farm. If I ever move back to San Diego I will go with Kevin Kane’s office again. The office workers were incredibly understanding when I couldn’t remember details and had trouble speaking due to a head injury. I think the true indication of how good an insurance co is shows when you’re filing a claim. They were wonderful.

Kevin has been my agent since I moved to San Diego and has been nothing but great the entire time! His office staff, especially Alicia (sp?) are super cool as well.
Insurance is one of those things that we all need, but I never dread going to his office.
Plus, he helps me out with financial matters as well. I’ve had a Roth IRA though my family’s Edward Jones agent for a while, and he’s been completely respectful of that and has never once asked me to move it over. However, we’ve done some other great work on retirement planning. I’m not in a position to be putting away tons of money right now, and he never gives me the snooty attitude or looks down his nose when I say «I’d rather not do that,» or «that’s too much, let’s do something for less» that I’ve gotten from other insurance agents and financial advisors.

I chose State Farm for my homeowners/​renters insurance because they don’t have breed restrictions like many insurance companies. «Breed Restrictions» are lists of types of dogs that the insurance company will not cover, they usually won’t even give you a policy and exclude the dog. State Farm has a ‘one bite” policy instead, which I think is much more fair.
They’re a large, well established company, and their rates are reasonable, two big factors in insurance shopping.
I deal with insurance companies often for work, and it is usually tough to get someone on the phone, and then getting someone who is knowledgeable and helpful, next to impossible. With this office, I have never had any trouble getting a real person, and they are usually able to help me. When they haven’t been able to help, they put me right through to Kevin.
Their great service stands out.
