Kahoots Pet Store

I love Kahoots. They are so many natural and organic choices for food and general dog products. I have been having issues with my bullmastiff. After him being on antibiotics for an ear infection: 4 weeks! I felt that it was the food I had him on. I went in and got great advice. I found out the food I was feeding him had a lot of potatoes, horrible for dogs with floppy ears, and the lady helped me find a food that worked for my breed. I went with signature because they have the most protien and they have the fish option. I also purchased a probiotic and a good natural ear cleaning solution. It’s only been three weeks, but we are finally on the mend. We still have a few more weeks to go before the other food is fully out if his system. I’m only giving four stars because of the location. It’s the closest store, but it’s a drive. I wish they would open more stores!

I wish I could remember the name of the girl who helped us, but she was very nice and informative. So much better service than the Dr. Visit I paid $ 600 for the week before! She educated us on the importance of probiotics for our dogs with weak tummies. They have been on their new food + probiotic routine for one week and I have never seen them more active and happy! Thanks Kahoots!!!

Kahoots is pretty awesome. I do buy my pet supplies here, but also come in just so the kid and I can pet the guinea pigs. We already have a pig and aren’t looking to add another, but it’s cool that they indulge us. Great service and advice. Their house dog food is very high quality and selection of treats and such is great.

I have started going to this pet store more and more because my new kitten has different needs than my last cat. They are so incredibly helpful and loving towards Pandora every time we come in. It is because of this that I will continue to come to this location even though we are moving to Lemon Grove. Their cat litter is always a great deal and their return policy is great (Pandora can be picky). Thank you all for your kindness, see you next time!

My return trip today was much worse than my original visit. I drove from el cajon to get some advice and buy some semi-​high dollar items and I was completely ignored.
I browsed the fish area for about 20 minutes, making eye contact with the employees and no one came to help me. I walked to the front where the girl that helped me before was behind the counter doing nothing, hoping she would notice me, and nothing.
Sorry Kahoots. I thought I found my new pet store (i need one) but I dont think you are it. Dont ignore people hovering in an area. You know what it means and you werent busy at all. no excuse here.
Ill be looking for another pet store unfortunately.

This is where you go when you are a baller on a budget! High end dog food for the poor man.

I’ve never bought anything but I always take my little girl here to look around. Always clean, always a great selection, friendly and very helpful staff. :)

Extremely helpful staff and a fair selection. Prices slightly less than «big box» stores on most items, the same on most others. However, be careful who gives you advice if you are having a problem (fish in my case) as advice may not be the best (hence, 4 stars rather than 5), so be sure to ask for an «expert» in whatever your pet may be. I do & will shop there for supplies. Staff is super nice.

I drive from Lakeside to purchase my cat’s dry cat food. I buy the store’s brand because after reading all the ingredients in ALL the other brands, theirs were healthier. Very little corn. This is the ingredient that dries out their skin. I avoid it as best I can. But, above that? My cat loves it. In fact, when my neighbor needed to borrow some cat food, she came back to ask what kind it was. Her cat devoured it.
Yes, it may be a bit pricey, but I prefer to support my local businesses. I get service and a clean store as well as the premium food.

I really like this Kahoots. The employees are very friendly and they strive to satisfy customers.
The store is large, offering supplies for wild/​domesticated birds, reptiles, fish, livestock, cats, and dogs. The majority of the food brands they carry are holistic and of high quality.
Price-​wise, it’s a little more expensive than something you would get at Petco. However, they make up for it in their wide selection, friendly service, and quality products.

After a few visits for necessities I was turned off by their unfriendly and borderline rude sales clerks, but not to the point where I’d never come back again. That changed on my most recent and last visit.
I went in for a dog tag. While I was standing at the counter waiting for the engraver to finish, another sales clerk came back and reached into her pocket. She pulled out a small tropical fish. Her reaction to finding a fish in her pocket was nothing but amused, stating that it ‘must have jumped out of a tank’ and into her pocket, and that she ‘wondered what that was’ — That it was still ‘flopping’. She then threw it into a trashcan, still chuckling. I quickly took my purchase and left, feeling disgusted by what I had just seen.
Are you kidding? I know it’s ‘only’ a fish, and fish don’t really feel pain the way mammals do, but she still let a fish suffocate in a trashcan instead of putting it in a tank or killing it instantly. It doesn’t take an animal rights fanatic to think her behaviour was wrong and callous in a way that most definitely ensures that I will never, ever go back to this store, or any others in the chain.

I’m only reviewing the cold blooded side of this store as it is all I went in looking for. They carry a very limited supply of the most common reptiles (bearded dragons, russian tortoises and corn snakes when I was there) and some fresh water fish. With the other amazing fish and reptile stores available nearby, there is no reason to go here for these animals or supplies.
I won’t give them a 1 star rating, because I understand that their store mostly caters to mammals and it would be unfair to give them a terrible rating just because their pet selection and prices are poor.

I come here with Sean Gecko R all the time. He has become the owner of many unwanted pets from friends and neighbors. The latest pet is a rose hair tarantula that one of our close friends left behind but I refuse to give it away because I am attached. We come here to buy crickets (when I cant find any loitering in my garage that is), meal worms, and treats for bunnies and birds. Their prices are a little higher than petsmart but they carry more high end, quality pet food and products. I buy my cat food here sometimes when I dont go to Paw Country. They have her favorite treats, feline greenies as well as some «strong cat nip» which she loves.

Kinda bummed, actually a lot bummed…
So two years ago, I purchased a ball python from this pet store… well… after discussing my situation with about that my ball python whom I love, is more than likely wild caught (meaning caught in Africa and shipped to US to sell). I was mislead from this pet store, I was told that the snake I was purchasing was «captive bred» and that the snake «eats well»…
Well, having the snake expert evaluate my ball python, after numerous issues I have been dealing with over the years with him (i.e. excessive aggressive behavior, skin issues, MAJOR EATING ISSUES) FYI… ball pythons are never supposed to be aggressive… so now… I can either donate to breeding or never hold again :(unless I plan on becoming a snake bite victim every time…
I don’t know if I would buy a reptile from this place… JUST SAYIN…

So I have only been here once but it was very nice…

So they are right down the street from me so they will get my business but since I can get 40lbs of very good quality lamb and rice dog food from Costco for $ 25 a bag I wont be buying pet food at Kahoots anytime soon but they will get my business for most everything else!

I’m ready for my older cat Shamp to die already. So I was pretty pissed when my wife brought home another cat for us to feed and take care of. Before we got our new cat Pippa, I only bought the cheapest generic brand of cat food I could find. Shamp would still eat it, and I would still hear her barfing in the hallways whenever I introduced her to the latest store brand that was on sale. Cat food was cat food I thought. The barfing and bloody poops are normal right?
Apparently, when you get a new kitten they can’t eat the Ralph’s brand. So we started coming here to pick up fancy kitten food both wet and dry.
Shamp was like, «WTF! I’m going to eat your food too you little bitch.» Then Pippa was all, «OK. you old hag go ahead. But then I’m going to chase you around all day making you hiss at me because this is my house now. See that little fluffy blue bed I got? Who loves you now?»
I have noticed less barfing but stronger cat poop smells. Maybe that is because this place has their own brand of food that is made with better ingredients than the crap I used to buy. Even the wet food had whole sardines in it that weired me out but whatever I’m not a cat so I don’t have to eat it.
Another thing this place does well is the customer service. Their fish tanks are so clear and clean. I’ll upload a pic I took. Also, one of the workers opened up the hamster cage so my daughter could hold one for a bit.
So I’m happy we go to this place now and Shamp gets some better food options than what I used to buy her. I feel bad for that cat. The last time I pet her was when I stepped on her with my bare foot while she was sleeping in the middle of the closet.

I love Kahoots! We buy our high end no carb dog food Evo here. Excellent selection of holistic dog food. Great selection of fun dog toys and accessories.
We also get our «feeder mice,» here. I love that no one here corrects me or says, «You mean PET mice!» Like they do at Petco. The mice come in a brown bag that says, «lunch time.» Not to be mean, I love animals, but come on people lets call it like it is! I’m buying mice to feed to my snake. :) Their prices on mice are better than Petco too.

This store is very clean and well organized and not too busy! However, the reason why my dogs love this place is the amazingly friendly staff members! They are very helpful, nice, and extremely available to help you save money with helpful suggestions.
Unfortunately, the prices are SUPER, MEGA, HELLA EXPENSIVE! (Unless you buy the small sample sizes!)
Overall, I give this place 2 paws up!

Wow, I was so impressed with this place.
Sunday morning I was reading the paper and looking through the ads when I saw two coupon advertisements with 20% off coupon off of one item.
I saw that the place was in the neighborhood and decided to give it a try.
I’m hooked, I will be a customer for life! We went and the store was much bigger then expected for being a holistic/​organic type stuff.
They have several small animals like hamsters, some guinea pigs, and cute rabbits, all in healthy, clean looking habitats. They had the reptile section, but those buggers always creep me out so I didn’t bother looking. A good amount of birds also in very clean cages.
The biggest shocker to me was how clean the fish tanks were, even the feeder fish tank was crystal clear, not at all what you see when you go to other local chain pet stores.
I went down every single aisle and was very impressed with the product selection, they have everything here.
We came to buy some we food and decided to try out there brand Kahoots, check out my pictures to see the different varieties they have.
At checkout they also gave us a sample of their Kahoots dry food. I checked the pricing on the bag and the largest one is only $ 30 which is really the same we pay for the current food we’re using which is not holistic.
We feed our dogs half dry, half wet food, and had them sample the food out last night. They really loved it, I haven’t seen them go crazy for dry food like that in a long time. The best part is as of this morning we have all solid droppings! As a pet parent you know that’s a big deal when it comes to wet food.
I will definitely be using my 20% coupon next time I go in to purchase the dry dog food.
Best of all the Kahoots brand food is processed and packaged in Ramona, all local. I love supporting local businesses.
