Last chance to get a great Thai massage at this location. Glad I was able to get in 6 times this year. If you haven’t been before, make a point to while you still can. Starting in June, only outcall will be available — and only to already established clients.

I have been here twice. My husband recommended it to me. I don’t know a lot about massage, but it seems like a combination of accupressure, stretching and massaging. I was there Wednesday, and I felt like a million bucks. Tippy asked where my problem areas are, then spent extra time there. I will definitely go again.

I had a Bloomspot coupon and tried this place out. For me it was ok, my husband liked it. The only thing that made me give them a three star is because I used a Bloomspot coupon for Thai aroma massage thinking its traditional Thai massage. When we arrived we were told that if we would like to upgrade for traditional Thai massage it would be another $ 25 per person. I feel that it would have been nice to put that in fine print that the coupon is not for traditional Thai massage.

I love this place. It is the only place I go in San Diego. The massage is great and they listen to what you have to say and what you need worked on gets the focus it deserves. The atmosphere is calming and the massages always relieve my pain.
I don’t know how anyone could rate this place less than at least 4 stars but to the people who rated this place any less I think you are crazy for not rating it higher based simply on the massage itself. I have been going here for about 6 or 7 years and will not go anywhere else. I also enjoy the conversation when I am there and I’m sure if you don’t want a conversation or want simply a quiet and calm experience when there all you have to do is ask.
I have become friends with the people there so maybe I’m a bit defensive for them but all the therapists and the owner are great people just there to help and care about your physical health and well being. You can’t ask for any more than what they provide.
Ask about a package or similar because you will be going back.

JSM keeps me feeling great! Thippy is amazing! I have health issues that cause me problems with my legs and lower back. I go regularly for reflexology and massage. regular treatments keep me healthy and energized. the frequent buyer program is a bonus.

I keep coming back, I tell Nali she has magic hands! My running and cross-​training does a number on my legs and although deep tissue massage is great, it doesn’t have the same affect as Thai massage. My sports medicine doctor was the one that referred me to JSM, I’m so glad I listened! I’ll keep coming back because it helps me the most with recovery so I can keep on running and Nali takes good care of me!

So then ideally, you should be gettin rub downs every month or so they say. Especially if you’re the active type, or even the inactive type, and definitely if you’re the (drunk) and persistently colliding with solid objects type. I’m happily all three but can’t get myself to indulge a quality massage nearly that often. But when you’re lying on the table and the masseuse says ‘Ohh whys your right leg do that?’ then you probably made a good choice by coming in today eh.
This was my first Thai style massage and it was a great experience. Small, clean place and there was no wait at all. Simple set-​up; confirmed the appt. with Joselyn in the morning and was able to stroll down in the afternoon. They start out with a water foot bath contraption while you finish the paperwork, which of course is pretty neat. Not a big fan of wearing the medical scrubs but its cleaner and maybe a bit classier I guess and didn’t take away from the brilliant combination of soothing pleasure and trust –me– this– is– for –your –own –good mind blasting pain. She was actually very gentle with this white boy’s sub par back and varied the pressure and intensity masterfully throughout, only (somewhat reluctantly) increasing the strength after I nodded it was okay. But don’t go crazy there tough guy. a lovely lady but can still break you very easily if she wanted ;) Trust. Trust.
Every area was worked very thoroughly and there was lots of different authentic stretching and contorting that helped bring things into balance. A clean hands face massage ended the hour and I was more than happy I made the trip. Worth the $ 75/​hour charge plus tip (little pricey, not bad) cause ultimately you always get what you pay for. This is the REAL Thai massage as I experienced many times when I was in Bangkok. The ambiance is enhanced with a clean scent, like aromatherapy. There are a lot of details that are different from the cheaper «Thai Massage Way» (TMW). Instead of having a towel over your body, you change into a clean pair of pants and top (like a nurse outfit). The session starts with a foot bath and foot acupressure, unlike at TMW. Then you go into one of three areas with a mattress covered with a clean sheet, unlike at TMW. The therapists are highly skilled. They wash their hands in the middle of the massage, before they start working on your face, unlike at TMW. All in all, this is a very relaxing experience right in the middle of Clairemont.

Exceptional Massage! I am a massage therapist, and I like to try massage when I visit other cities. Called JSM and they were able to get me in the same day. I went for the Reflexology/​Thai Combo, a real bargain at $ 105. It was truly heavenly! The reflexology was really great, deep, strong pressure yet deeply relaxing. The Thai Massage was WONDERFUL, and truly authentic. My massage therapist, Rattana, found all my ‘spots’ and my shoulders relaxed for the first time in a couple of months. The combination of deep work along with the stretching done by someone who really knows what they are doing simply can’t be beat. I found the Thai massage table very comfortable as well. I highly recommend JSM bodywork to anyone who wants an effective and authentic massage experience.

I have had many different styles of massage and thai massage has been the most effective for me. I work out 5 to 6 days a week, weight training, core training, yoga, pilates, and my muscles get very tight. JSM Bodywork has saved me from discomfort as well as injury by me getting a thai massage every month. I LOVE the atmosphere and especially all the technicians. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I spent some time in Thailand last year and got numerous massages there, and this place gives a genuine Thai massage, a good value for the money They let me bring my longboard into the office so I would’nt stress about having it stolen out of my truck. The setup is typical — futon mats separated by curtains, which is typical in Thailand. Massage was very thorough and she gave me more than an hour. This was also done on a «dropin basis» I was driving by the building and saw their banner, called, and I was in! Atmosphere was quiet, serene, and professional, with sounds of nature and water, no heavy scents or incense. I got exactly what I wanted, and recommend them fully. This is the real deal if you are looking for Thai massage.

I have been going to JSM for years. I have gotten lots and lots of massages becuase I suffer from chronic low back pain. THIS IS THE BEST MASSAGE EVER! The therapists are from Thailand and are fantastic. I have recieved Thai massages in Thailand and I know that these are authentic. The place is small, clean and relaxing. I have taken my mother who has Parkinson’s and she has woken up pain free the next day after her massage. I also bring my husband who is a massage a phobic and he loves it. I love the foot massages here also.
I have spent alot more for alot less and would highly recommend JSM. I always give gift certificates here. By the way, I am a liberal and have never experienced anything like the person in the one review did. I also live in Carlsbad but come down to JSM at least once a month if I can. I always leave feeling much, much better than when I walked in.

Authentic and satisfying! Thai massage is a distinct type of massage that I personally enjoy a lot. It combines pressure points (with point pressure and broad pressure) with muscle manipulation — kind of like having yoga performed on you. I think it’s great, and these guys do a great job.
In addition to a great massage, they do some nice touches. You know how you fill out a form at every massage parlor that asks how you found out about them, if you have any medical conditions, etc… You do that here too, except you do that while your feet are being warmed in one of those water-​jet foot massagers.

The masseuses here are fabulous and well worth the money. However, I have had to stop coming here because the owner is a nut who would harass me every time I came in. On my first visit, she brought up politics and I said I was a liberal. From then on, every time I came in, she would go off on political diatribes where she would insult me and ridicule my beliefs. The last thing someone wants to do is talk politics when getting a massage, but she was relentless and wouldn’t let it drop. And she has told me I am not the first person she has run off with such behavior
UPDATE: The owner read my review and called me screaming at the top of her longs, demanding to know why I said she harassed me (she had my number on file). I told her not to ever call me again and hung up. She then called over and over and over again — not comprehending that she was YET AGAIN HARASSING ME!
UPDATE 2: An attorney sent me a letter saying that if I didn’t take down this review, the owner of JSM would sue me. I replied to the attorney that I wasn’t intimidated and would not remove the review. I never heard from the attorney again. I know there used to be more bad reviews on here, but they have disappeared, so I guess her intimidation tactic worked on the others.

I didn’t come here to relax, but to get rid of knots and really tight back muscles. I knew this place had «authentic» thai, not the american thai teachings that it popular in western culture. This is the place to go for therapy because they do pay attention to meridians and zen lines etc. Do not come here if you are looking to fall asleep though. This is pure muscle work which was my goal and was accomplished.

one of the best massages i’ve gotten, and i’ve gotten a lot. my masseuse found the perfect amount of strength to use, right between pleasure and pain. it was a morning well spent.
the place is a bit small, and there are no individual rooms; the beds are separated by curtains. i went on a quiet morning, though, so it was fine. i like that they don’t rub you down with gallons of oil, like other Thai massage places. my only real issue was the price: $ 75 is a tad steep. with tip, you’re looking at close to a hundred. that said, i’ve gotten $ 100 plus massages at swanky Vegas hotels that don’t even compare to this experience.

JSM is my favorite place for a therapeutic massage! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. They combine stretching and deep tissue massage to help their patients. Both my husband and I go here and he has fallen asleep during a deep tissue session.
I had serious shoulder pain from working on the computer and after one session, I could feel the tension slowly slipping away. I used to go every 2 weeks, but as the pain has subsided, I go in monthly for maintenance purposes only. I recommend JSM Bodyworks!

This place consistently delivers an awesome massage! The massage therapists are amazing… they really know how to read your body and work out the knots. They offer Thai massage and Reflexology. And, not that it matters, but I think the therapists are actually from Thailand. If you prefer a soft and gentle massage, I don’t think this is for you. But if you like deep tissue, this is probably more your style.
When I was waiting for my massage, I overheard another customer say that he himself was a massage therapist and that he works at the Golden Door Spa. A coworker had recommended JSM. If you haven’t heard of Golden Door, they are a world famous spa/​resort which has received awards from Zagat, Travel + Leisure, Conde Naste… and has a long list of celebrity visitors. Anyway, if JSM Massage is good enough for the massage therapists at the Golden Door… it’s good enough for me!
The building where JSM Boydworks is located looks «suspicious.» I’m not sure how else to describe it. But don’t let that scare you away. Inside you will find your happy place!
