Jewish Family Service

Before we left San Diego, we contacted the Jewish Family Service to see if they would accept our unopened food that we will not take cross country with us. They eagerly accepted our items. They were kind and professional. They do so much good for the community. Keep up the good work! You are appreciated!

This place is the most organized, most efficient, cleanest, most well-​run community service organization I have ever seen in my life. The people there are incredibly helpful and will help you with absolutely anything you need whether it is services for aging and elderly, counseling, psychologists, domestic violence, homelessness, unemployment, and they even have a bunch of different support groups. They have case managers there so you can keep working with the same person. They treat you with so much respect and professionalism and are so incredibly helpful. Wow these guys are just amazing. y

I needed to get rid of two tables, wanted to donate them, and JFS made it easy. I called Christina, who was efficient and friendly, and scheduled a pickup. On pickup day, she called again with a 20-​min warning, the friendly driver Benjamin arrived on time with a receipt, took the tables and was gone in 5 minutes. Easy and recommended for furniture donations. Thanks JFS.

Jewish Employment Network (JEN)
I learned about Jewish Family Services /​JEN offering workshops on employment related issues to the community.
Being employed full time since 1993, and suddenly finding a new scenario in my life had me under-​prepared.
Some of the free services offered to the community are workshops with topics on job Searches, Preparing Polished Resumes, Interviewing Techniques and Networking.
The presenters are experts in their field and are very helpful and willing to give you extra attention, if needed :)

We recently had reason to take our old couches and coffee table and find someone else to use them. None of our friends wanted them so donation was our next option. I called and called and called places, a few would take the couches/​table off of our hands but we’d have to figure out how to get them to the curb. Now, this would have been okay but I can’t exactly carry couches (back problem) and the man can’t do it on his own so we were stuck. I tried the military option but those donation centers either couldn’t take furniture or didn’t have anyone that needed it right now. :-/​Well, their loss is JFSSD’s gain.
Jewish Family Service of San Diego (
) will take your furniture and get it out of the house for you. If you’ve ever tried to give away your gently used goods you know this is fantastic. Really, I nearly gave them 5 stars just for that.
