Love this place! The staff is really nice. Dr. Muir is awesome! My 2 front teeth were wearing down and he fixed them! My teeth look amazing! When he numbed me up I didn’t feel a thing. Ive been to many different dental offices, this one is the best. You can tell Dr. Muir loves what he does and he is good at it too!

Professional work, highest quality. He is so concerned about a patient not having any pain, it is never a big deal getting any dental work done out of his office.

Dr Muir has been my dentist for the last 15 years and I wouldn’t go to anyone else. I needed veneers after I got my braces off and he did such an incredible job with the color and shape that when I needed them replaced 10 years later I flew down so that he could replace them for me. He was able to expedite the making of the veneers so that I only had the temps on for one week and his staff dealt with the insurance to make sure I wasn’t paying more than I had to out of pocket. They were extremely accommodating to my tight schedule and the new veneers are absolutely beautiful, and the entire procedure was totally painless! Everyone there is soo nice and knowledgeable and they treat you like family. I’m soo thankful for Dr Muir and his entire staff, they are hands down the best dental office ever!

Need a cosmetic dentist? GO TO DR. JAMES MUIR right away! Just returned from a visit to Dr. Muir’s office this afternoon, and I am so happy to write this review and recommendation for an outstanding dental office staff and highly skilled cosmetic dentist.
My review is long over due, in fact, it’s about 23 years late! There was no Unilocal in 1993 so here it is now:
The last time I was in Dr. Muir’s care was in 1993 when as a young 20 year old college student, I was in a terrible boardwalk bike-​accident and knocked out my lower four front teeth through my bottom lip, and crushed and shattered my upper front six teeth. It was horrible and I was devastated, thinking that my big smile would never be the same. My recovery was extensive and over six months, in-​between plastic surgeries to fix my lip, eight root canals and gum trauma surgery, Dr. Muir took such great care of me ensuring me that when the healing was done, he would restore my smile with veneers and crowns so that I could live a normal, happy life. It was hard to believe considering how I looked. I was living away from my family and I cried in the dental chair often. This didn’t seem fixable. Dr. Muir always comforted me, and encouraged me that things were getting better with each treatment. He had two young daughters, and lucky for me he understood my situation and I remember feeling that he genuinely cared about me. He said he could fix this horrible problem, and in 1993, he did just that. The result was that I absolutely loved my smile, my teeth were beautiful, even better than before my accident. When I think back on that terribly traumatic time, I credit the positive outcome to Dr. Muir and over the years have thought of him often because of the kind, caring and thoughtful manner with which he handled my case. He was so empathetic, and I remember that the most. In addition to that, he has such an incredible aesthetic eye, and provided me with a bright, beautiful set of veneers, and crowns, which I have always felt proud of. I am so thankful that I was able to find Dr. Muir as a young girl to set me up with such a pretty set of teeth for many years to come.
Over the last 23 years, I have received so many complements from other dentists from coast to coast. No joke! Over the last two decades, I have lived on the east coast, Los Angeles and San Diego. Since I take such great care of my beloved veneers, I have seen countless dentist and endodontic specialists to keep my mouth and teeth healthy. Many dentists have asked me over the years about my veneers, and I always told them that Dr. Muir in Pacific Beach did them. These veneers have lasted so long and other dentists are often surprised when I said they were 10, 15, 20 and now 23 years old. Dr. Muir simply did an outstanding job and has been recognized and complimented by many other professionals because of the above average appearance and quality of his work. My natural looking veneers are over 20 years old and they still look great!
With age, I have experienced some gum recession and want to keep my smile bright and youthful. Since I live in North County, I asked my regular dentist about replacing my veneers due to some margins between my gums and teeth. In fact, I asked several other specialists all around North County just for the sake of convenience. Not comfortable, no way. I looked at their before and after photos and while veneers generally make an improvement to anyone’s smile, it just looked cookie cutter. I have seen so many people get veneers that are too bulky, too big and look like the teeth just don’t fit. They look unnatural, don’t fit their face and just look like they got their teeth done. There is just no way I would take a chance with having a smile I don’t love after having such a wonder experience.
Although it has been over 20 years, I called Dr. Muir’s office and to my complete delight, I was warmly welcomed me back to the office by both Dr. Muir and the staff. I was surprised that Rochelle and the staff remembered me, and so did Dr. Muir! They were as sweet and helpful as before, and exactly how I remembered. Just a professional, accommodating and warm environment. It was wonderful to get to show Dr. Muir his work more than 20 years later and explain to him how he personally helped me to have a confident smile for the lasted two decades. I have always felt that I was proud of my teeth and I was extra happy to get to share this with him in personally. What a treat to thank someone who I felt so grateful to for so many years. What an even better treat to be able to have him refresh my smile and work on my veneers for a second time. I am so lucky!
If you are considering veneers, YOU MUST GO TO DR. MUIR. It is important to have a high level of confidence in a dentist who will create your smile. Everyone looks at your teeth; it is your best accessory. Dr. Muir does BEAUTIFUL WORK. That feeling of being proud of your smile is priceless!

Dr. Muir has been my dentist for well over 20 years. He does an outstanding job and always caring, gentle and just a great human being. Also, his staff is special. I actually don’t mind going to the dentist because of all those special people. So of course I’m hoping he never retires. He can’t be replaced.

Dr Muir and his staff are wonderful! Went in for cleaning and exams. They were right on time and explained everything to me. Office was very clean. I usually don’t like going to the dentist, but dr Muir and his staff make me want to come back! Highly recommend.

I have been going to Dr Muir for 20+ years. I recently managed to do a face-​plant into concrete 4 days before my wedding, badly chipping my front teeth. I was leaving within 24 hours for my destination wedding and completely freaked out. Dr Muir saw me first thing in the morning and had an almost-​perfect temporary cap done by 5pm. Good enough for photos! Dr Muir saved the day and I could not be more pleased. I will be getting my permanent veneers upon my return and will forever be indebted to Dr Muir and his staff. And on a separate note, my regular cleanings are always quick and painless, and the office is impeccably clean.

I’ve been going to Dr. Muir ever since I was a young lass and have always had a great experience. Growing up, our family’s dental insurance type wasn’t accepted at Dr Muir’s office, but we still continued to go there because of the excellent experience we had. I think that truly speaks to how great this dental office is.
Alina has been my dental hygienist for years and is always friendly and very competent and skilled in her profession.
It’s comforting to go to a dentist you can trust. I’ve never felt Dr. Muir or his staff were trying to upsell me on additional services or telling me I needed any unnecessary work (like some dentists out there). Dr. Muir and his staff are honest and really care for their patients.
Now that I’m an adult and pay for my own dental work, I’m excited that Dr. Muir’s office accepts my insurance (hooray!). Thanks for keeping my smile nice n healthy, Dr. Muir & Alina!

Dr. Muir was fantastic! I had a dental emergency and am a student in San Diego so I had no idea where to go. Dr. Muir went out of his way to accommodate me and to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Him and his staff were extremely friendly and I was in an and out of the office very quickly. I highly recommend Dr. Muir!

I started seeing Dr. Muir last January for a consultation about broken teeth due to a fall. He explained all my options and even referred me to another dentist to look for any root or nerve damage. A very friendly pleasant dental office! You feel like a person not a number. It didn’t take long for the staff to know me by name. I always feel relaxed in this office. My Grandma & Grandpa started going to Dr. Muir back in the early-80’s and the entire has followed! I can’t imagine having a better dentist or staff to take care of my family or myself. Ive been going to dr. muir for 6 years and i always come out from my appointments happy and smiley:) my dental hygenist’s name is alynna and she is really kind and fun to talk to. she does a really great job and my whole family goes there. Dr. muir is a really cool guy too. ive been to a bad dentist before and i know how terrible it is to not be able to trust your dentist:(soo happy my mom found this place!
