My Chiropractic Story.
Wow! What a difference Intouch Chiropractic has made in my life.
I started racing BMX when I was 8 years old and continued my racing career until I was 26. During this time, I had accomplished multiple National, Regional, State, and District #1 Titles. Had national sponsorships and was traveling to a different city ever other week. I felt like a champion everyday… until one day I suffered a career ending injury. Saying I was «devastated» would be an understatement. My favorite passion had finally ended.
10 years went by and I was a complete wreck the whole time. «Out of whack» was an easy way to describe the state my body was in. All of my injuries that I had suffered during my racing career finally caught up with me. Everything from multiple torn ACL’s on both knees, broken collarbones, multiple neck and back injuries and then some only added to my daily pain, my increasing depression and my social anxiety. My doctors remedy was to keep adding more and more medication to alleviate my pain, which only helped to mask it. Not being able to participate in fun activities with my friends, sometimes even going for a walk, only increased those negative thoughts and feelings even more. I began to believe that this was normal and how the rest of my life would be.
One day a friend of mine recommended going to a chiropractor. I, of course, hesitated as I had always heard the negative comments of going to see one, so I never did. Until one day, I decided that enough was enough, I had tried everything else, so why not go see a chiropractor. Just to write it of my list and say «yeah, I’ve already tried that too.»
It has been less than a year and WOW! What a difference!
I remember going in to see Dr. Young and commenting, «I want to feel young again» as a joke. Well, the jokes on me, I not only feel young again, I feel better than young.
Besides being able to be active with no more pain, is no more medication. I wake up everyday pain free and no longer need to see the doctors who kept over prescribing me. I have mobility in parts of my body that I hadn’t for over 10 years.
Saying my life is «amazing» doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel now. I never thought I could ever feel this great again. I can’t say «THANK YOU» enough to Dr. Young, Dr. Tapia and Joselyn. They have truly helped to change my life.

I was recently involved in a car accident and I suffered a wipe lash, but with the help of Dr. Young, I was able to recover and feel better. He is a NUCCA chiropractor and told me about the benefits of NUCCA and how important it can be for my health. I will continue to see him because I feel much better about my overall health with this practice. I recommend him to everyone!

I specifically needed a NUCCA (upper cervical) practitioner and was soooo glad to find an office with such great reviews and in central San Diego (I live near the border in IB)! They have been taking care of my boyfriend and I for about 2 months now, they work out a payment plan if you need it or a discounted one-​time payment. Everything makes sense once you see your x-​rays. Dr. Young and his wife both have their own style in treatment which is really nice and they are both super cool and always make you feel comfortable.
They also have 2 zero-​gravity chairs in the back free to use after your adjustment which takes all the weight off your joints and is so relaxing. Also, Joselyn is great at the front desk, is always smiling and giggling you just wanna tickle her! You just wanna tickle her for hours.
My boyfriend has never seen a chiropractor before and has decades of problems that need to be reversed and is making amazing progress, he gets just the right amount of gentle and more aggressive care as needed. I have fibromyalgia so the gentle NUCCA style is the way to go for me. The consultation is free, you have nothing to lose except your pain and discomfort.

Dr. Young is the man! He listens and he gets results. He is one of the only doctors I’ve seen who really asks all the questions and seeks to really understand what I’m experiencing and what my goals are. In my case, he has helped me tremendously with Low Back Pain, Foot pain, and Neck Pain. All of these issues have resolved while under his care and now I’m running half-​marathons regularly without any issues. I always look forward to our appointments and have already referred people to his care.

I started getting NUCCA care about 1 year ago and my life has been transformed. I had very bad headaches on a daily basis and was taking tubs of advil or any pain relief medication. TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF completely. Visited with «free consultation» offering and for a $ 60 adjustment in mind. During my visit I voiced repeatedly that I was just visiting SD, unemployed and needed one adjustment due to a car accident from an uninsured motorist. I even submitted my diagnosis and X-​rays from my doctor to avoid additional fees and to give insight on my injuries.
Sure the office is presentable and the staff is nice, but from the moment I met with the Doctor I was pressured to purchase a huge Chiro package. I declined. Another doctor was sent in to close the huge deal. I declined. One Doctor was so adamant after my decline, she personally called my Credit Card company to increase my limit to cover the huge Chiro treatment plan. All this knowing that I was unemployed, rear ended by an uninsured motorist, and that I did not reside in San Diego. The staff doesn’t listen to your true expressed needs. How un-​holistic is that?
I signed a ton of paperwork when I visited and was mentally exhausted when I left their office. It was like I was mentally beaten up! In the end, I was charged approximately $ 300. I disputed the charges based on the office originally agreeing that my total out of pocket was a «free consultation» and $ 60 for one adjustment. The office has responded with unwillingness to adjust my fees.
Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere where a truly holistic chiropractic approach is valued and offered to clients.

My family and I have been going to InTouch Chiropractic for a little over a year. I met Dr. Young and Dr. Tapia at a post race recovery event. Dr. Tapia and Dr. Young were very friendly and very welcoming which is why I took them up on their offer for the consultation. I had just recently left my chiropractor after going to her for 12 years. It was a bit difficult to see a new chiropractor but Dr. Young and Dr. Tapia seemed like people I could trust with my care. After my first consultation and the VERY thorough exam and x-​rays I knew I would be comfortable putting my health in their care. I actually started going to them before I brought my husband and children to them. Just to make sure I could really trust them with my family. They had proven to me over and over again that they could be trusted with my precious family. As a mother it’s not always easy to let people work on your children but Dr. Young always does amazing with them.
I started to go to Dr. Young for a knee and shoulder injury, my husband for severe headaches/​migraine, my 13 year old for his asthma and my 8 year old for behavioral issues. I have seen great change in all our lives. Dr. Young not only treats us for these health related issues but he helps educate us on how to better the issues outside of his office. My son’s asthma and posture has improved greatly since we started seeing Dr. Young. We have seen great change in our 8 year old as well. Dr. Young helped identify some things in our 8 year old that could be remedied with natural vitamins and supplements. Amazing changes.
Dr. Young and his staff treats me and my family as part of their family. My boys enjoy going to the office and trust Dr. Young very much. They never hesitate to let him treat them and listens to the things Dr. Young tells them to do at home because they know that Dr. Young only wants to help them. A lot of people hesitate to have their children worked on by a chiropractor but I can speak from experience that it can only better their health.
For myself, I love the way Dr. Young works to get to the bottom of the root cause of the pain/​issues and does not just treat the symptoms. Because of the fact that Dr. Young treats the cause it helps my body hold to the adjustment longer.

See all these five star reviews? It’s because Dr. Young is the real deal and has a great process to find out the source of what’s causing you pain. If you have pain in the knees, hips, or back, he knows that the source is likely from SOMEWHERE ELSE and is knowledgeable enough to find the source and address it. He has a holistic approach and looks at your overall health, identifying your stresses, how you spend your day, and how you eat. He checks all these angles to find other things he can prevent, saving you the future pain of needing something to get fixed. I’m very impressed with his practice and would highly recommend him for a checkup if you’ve ever been on the fence about looking into a chiropractor.

I was a skeptic.
My father has been treated by a chiropractor since as long as I can remember, and I never saw him get better. I also never had insurance that would actually cover chiropractic care, including military healthcare, which added to my skepticism. I remained skeptical until I (by chance) met Dr. Young at a Fit Foodie 5k. He was giving free consultations to runners so my friend made me wait for her as she got her free consultation. After laughing at her for checking almost every block on the symptoms list, I realized that I had a majority of those symptoms too. Since I had nothing to lose (it was free and I had to wait for my friend anyway), I decided to give it a chance and got a free chiropractic consolation as well. That was the best thing that could ever happen for my heath.
I spent every day for 4.5 years straight (and going on 4 years part-​time) beating up my body, courtesy of military service. Everything from running on concrete– with and without boots/​tactical vests, jumping/​rappelling out of aircraft, sleeping on the ground, obstacle courses, 12 mile + rucks, etc. As a result, I have suffered a multitude of injuries to my shoulder, knees, hips, and legs. Because of the military mindset I adopted, I learned to ignored my aches and pains. But after some time, it became impossible for me to ignore all my ailments. I couldn’t run without my shins burning, my lower back aching, and my right hip clicking. I wasn’t sleeping well. My shoulder pain made it impossible to lie on my left side or pick things up. And I was convinced that my right leg was an inch longer than my left. I had a doctor tell me that I likely had a torn rotator cuff and needed surgery. However, Dr. Young immediately knew what was wrong with me and was able to demonstrate why: by simply turning my head to the right, I was able to have full range of motion in my shoulder. Little did I know that it wasn’t just my shoulder that was having issues, but my whole left side. It turns out that all of my injuries and pain were the result of a sub-​laxation (bend) in my neck.
Since I’ve been treated by Dr. Young (about 6 months now), I have rapidly improved. I now have full range of motion in my shoulder, sleep well at night, and can run with minimal to no leg/​knee pain and zero back/​hip pain. I am finally able to enjoy all my favorite physical activities, such as hiking, again. I even shaved several minutes off of my 2-​mile run time. It’s hard to believe that so much pain and anguish came from a such a simple problem I never knew existed.
Now that I have directly experienced what proper chiropractic care does for the body, I find it comical that I wasted so much time being such a skeptic. I now know that my dad never appeared to get better because he waited too long to start. And most health insurance doesn’t cover chiropractic care because if they did, they would be out of business! If you’re an athlete or in the military (even a veteran), do yourself a favor: stop suffering in pain from injuries and go see Dr. Young. The source of it all could be in your neck or back!

The doctors and staff are always so warm and friendly that it doesn’t even feel like a doctors office. I came to the office looking for treatment to prevent my scoliosis from getting worse and I have received advice on healthy eating, taking supplements, and daily exercises. They not only treat your symptoms but work at the real problem and care about your overall wellbeing.

Dr. Tapia and I have been working together for just under two years now and the results have been great!
I’ve come to enjoy great service from start to finish. From the time I enter the office and meet Joselyn to the time that I schedule the next appointment, I’m treated with professionalism, courtesy, kindness, and darn good chiropractic care.
I was not symptomatic at all when I first went in for a consultation. Honestly, I felt really good. However, after my X-​rays were done and I talked to Dr. Tapia about my VP shunts, we identified that (in terms I could understand), my head isn’t on straight and it’s affecting the rest of my body. I suppose that my body compensated for that with my musculature and flexibility that I attained through yoga and lifting weights. In any case, after my first adjustment, I felt great. Not just really good, but great! It was similar to getting an oil change.
Dr. Tapia does a fantastic job with her NUCCA practice and I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Young and Dr. Palmas.
If you haven’t had chiropractice work done, have been curious, or even have a solid chiropractic plan in place, I would strongly recommend that you give them a try.

Thanks to Dr. young I am feeling more like a normal person now. I was having severe migraines and a many other issues such as vertigo and buzzing in my ears, before I started going to In Touch Chiropractic. Since going there my migraines, vertigo, and buzzing in my ears have gone away, and my mobility in my neck has gotten better. I was seeing multiple doctors for the issues I was having and thanks to Dr. Young and In Touch Chiropractic I only am seeing two doctors now.
On another positive note, I was having severe discomfort and pain in my back (surgery in 2013) and the pain lessened greatly after each visit. I look forward to each visit and can’t wait to see how I further progress with these visits. Some of my family have also started to go to In Touch Chiropractic. I am excited to see how it impacts their lives, also!

I have been with Dr. Taipa since her practice opened. I took my 2 week old son to see her and the results I saw were amazing! When my son was having problems nursing after his apt, he was fine, he wasn’t pooping regularly and then after his apt… bam…fixed:) my son is now a year old and has only been sick once. I can not say enough how much I love how she works with my son and how well my son responds to an adjustment, he now sees her only once a month.
After 9 months of watching my son improve, I started. I was having severe neck and back pain and my hips would hurt when I ran, making it impossible to run (and for a runner it was sad for me) after one month with Dr. Taipa I could run without pain and wake up feeling rested.
Jeannette is so sweet and caring she always asks how I am doing how my family is doing, she is genuinely interested in my life and I couldn’t ask for a better chiropractor, she is knowledgeable in what she does and really has a heart to change the world thru chiropractic!

I’ve been working with Dr. Young the past month and can’t recommend them high enough. I’m not new to chiropractic work and I’m happy to say I’ve found a new home. I’ve also referred a few of my Personal Training clients to Intouch and they’ve taken great care of them.
I take really good care of my body, yet a month ago started to have burning pains in my hamstrings and low back. By the 4^th day it was so bad that I was curled up in fetal position in pain. I was also losing sleep for those 4 nights. I first contacted Intouch (after hours), and Dr. Young walked me through some trouble shooting over the phone. He then rearranged his schedule to see me the following morning. Although I had been working with another chiropractor the last 2 years, my hips decided they wanted to tilt and rotate so much that my nerves were getting pinched, hence the pain I was feeling.
Dr. Young took care of not only my hips, but he adjusts my upper cervical, jaw, and mid cervical, among other things. He’s 100% committed EVERY time I’m in there to ensure my body aligns it self properly and won’t let me leave until I’m aligned.
I’m 100% pain free, my digestion has improved 100% as well as my focus and my sleep is also back on track.
He also listens well, and I never feel rushed to get out of there.
On another note I’d like to give my two cents on the 2 star comment below by Jacob. I’m very sad to see this, especially with the warm comments he had to say about Tamara and Dr. Devin. These comments in my opinion are from an uneducated stance about how chiropractic care works, so I hope to clear that up from a happy patient perspective.
I used to also fall into the «camp» of skepticism with regard to the pricing structure of chiropractors. In fact, I waited over 10 years to finally work with a chiropractor, and it was the pricing structure that Jacob mentioned that turned me off. I sat through a handful of consultations and they all ended the same, «work with me 3 days a week, then 2, then 1 for a year or so.» Blah blah, I thought it was a scam. BUT it was my own trust issues as well as the inability of those offices to properly communicate WHY.
I GET IT NOW!!!
After becoming more educated, I wish I would have worked with a chiropractor sooner. Here’s the deal, short term chiropractic care does no good. It’s not about money, it’s about the way the body works. It’s about helping the patient.
Just like nobody is going to lose weight from a month of healthy eating, your spinal column isn’t going to correct itself with a month of adjustments after years of being misaligned. A month of adjustments would likely be money thrown away, whereas a year of adjustments would be money invested.
In my opinion, I would be more leery of a chiropractor who DOES SHORT TERM adjustments, as that’s not in the best interest of the patient IMO. Long term care is what the body needs, which is why long term plans are always recommended.

I highly recommend Intouch, both Doctors have high integrity and they are highly skilled. Dr. Devin works with an Olympic level athlete, as well as a team of other high level athletes who fly him out of town to adjust them I’m sure there are 1000s of chiropractors in between, yet they choose Dr. Devin! That’s powerful.

I first met Dr. Young and Dr. Tapia at an event in San Diego before there location in Mission Valley was even ready. I held onto their contact information since I live in the area and boy was I glad that I did!
I am currently being treated for neck pain and lower back pain by Dr. Young. The experience has been eye opening and refreshing. Through a first consultation I found out that I have several minor problem areas in my spine exactly where my troublesome spots were occuring.
I immediately realized that there was a direct coorelation with a lot of things, such as wanting to always watch TV with my head on a pillow to keep my neck from getting soar. Since then, I have been visiting Intouch on a weekly basis for treatment and I can already feel more energy in my problem areas and the pain has gone away.
I also know now and have realized that to maintain a healthy spine and a good back/​posture, regular treatments are vital to upkeep so that all of my senses are functioning correctly now and throughout life. I definately want to be walking normally well into my later years with as much energy as possible!

I have been living with scoliosis my whole life and let me tell you, nothing is more bothersome than never feeling asymmetrical in your body. This is the first place I went to that took a close look at my neck as being the start of my issue, not just the area that is bothering me, and getting relief and results in the first few visits. I have two broken facet joints in my lumbar spine (called spondylolisthesis), and am usually in some level of constant pain. I’ve had epidurals, nerve injections, and been perscribed countless different narcotics for pain. I’ve also seen several chiropractors but have never felt comfortable with them manipulating my lower back. A few of them didn’t even take any X-​rays, which was a clear sign for me to get out.
That’s why I love Intouch and Dr. Young — they took several X-​rays of my spine and wouldn’t even adjust me without looking them over. Since starting with them several months ago I have noticed a modest improvement in the pain in my lower back, along with relief in my neck from having mild arthritis. They are so attentive and personable, and they have really worked with me and my insurance company to make this an affordable part of my budget. They also send me plenty of reminders, which is useful for someone who is a bit forgetful! I’ve already recommended several of my friends to check them out and no one has ever been disappointed.
