Intergalactic Brewing

By far one of the worst breweries I have ever been too. I went there yesterday with a few buddies, got the Taster set up. Only finished 2 out of the 5 beers, and when I asked to try 2 others because I didn’t like those they charged me for them. I personally thought the beer was basic. Nothing special, and I’m a big IPA drinker but they only had 1 IPA. The customer service was horrible. Nothing special about it, I wouldn’t recommend this place to any of my friends. They suck!

Quirky theme for a microbrewery but I like it! And the beer is good too! Tried the coconut stout and the cranberry brew. Both were tasty and really hit the spot for me. I especially like how not everything is an IPA. I know, in San Diego I’ll get stoned for saying something like that, but whatever.
This place is a gem though, located on the border of Mira Mesa and Miramar in a business park with a small sign making it hidden in plain sight. Follow your GPS, it got me there. Drink up Unilocalers!

The Cake is a Lie is a coffee cream ale. It’s delicious and if you come here and don’t order it then maybe you should take a good hard look at your life and reevaluate all your decisions because trust me — you’re a failure.
Imagine my rampant joy when, on my last visit, I discovered that they offered a vanilla and macadamia nut variation of Cake is a Lie. Thats taking something that’s already awesome and cranking it up to 10. That’s like a Ben & Jerry’s truck breaking down outside your house on a sweltering summer’s day; can’t let it all go to waste, now can you? THAT is how awesome it is.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I walked in here with my beer buddy (aka sister), but I was pretty excited when I walked into a science fiction geeks dream (yep, I dig that stuff). The bar is pretty cool wrapped in a Star Trek theme and some cool stuff scattered around the place. It’s very clean and the beertender was really helpful.
We started off with a flight of beers and they were about 2 bucks a taster, so not bad at all. I liked Orion’s Stout (clean, oatmeal stout that fit the profile), This Cake is a Lie (really did taste like a piece of cake without being too sweet), Brown Coat Ale (really solid brown, roasty flavor comes out but not overpowering), Wormhole Wit with Cucumber (it tastes like pickle juice, but I love pickle juice and with alcohol, yes please!), and Shut Up Wesley (nice American Pale Wheat Ale, good for more than a pint).
It got busier as the day went on for a Sunday, which was cool. Found out they have been there for 3 years which is also nice to hear.
If you like Sci-​Fi and beer, give this place a try!

Any place that serves a Cranberry Carbonite Ale is on my must taste list. The coffee cream ale was the most amazing dessert beer I’ve had in a while. Very fresh tasting suds. Stop by & try, you won’t be disappointed in the quality.:)

I really wanted to like this place based on reviews but they wouldn’t serve me because I presented them with a Canadian driver’s license, a green card and the paper California driver’s license that you get before you plastic card comes in the mail. All the names match on all 3 and your laws state that as long has the ID comes from a government office, its good. I’ve gone to so many other brewies with just my Ontario driver’s license.
How do you expect tourists to enjoy? Risk carrying their passport everywhere?! Thanks for the warm welcome.

Cozy little tap room. Went there for the 3X IPA they had, just average, could use some work. Cool theme and the seating was good for beer drinking. I’ll be back again

Fun environment with tasty, awesomely nerdy-​named beers.

Awesome little brewery, friendly staff, decent amount of seating for it’s size. Finding the unit is tricky, as it’s kind of hidden in the corner of the plaza. Pay attention to the suite numbers.
Friday at 3pm, I was the 2^nd one through the door. By 4:30PM, the place was packed to the brim, and a typical 5 – 7 person wait for beer. Plan accordingly!

Small brewery kind of faraway from the rest of the breweries on Miramar. Parking wasn’t too bad, and seating wasn’t an issue at all since my homie and I came on a Monday afternoon after work. The whole Star Wars theme was dope, but I don’t know man, the warehouse just had too much white space, and honestly, it has so much potential to take their Star Wars ambiance on a whole another level.
Don’t get me wrong though! I really liked the vibe of this brewery. A flight of 5 beers for $ 9??? Hell yeah, sucha good deal! I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t have any IPAs on tap, though. 4 out of the 5 beers I had in my flight were just okay (variety of blonde, amber, and brown ales); they didn’t really stick out to me. The coconut porter, however, was YUM. Porters are usually my go-​tos, and this porter really satisfied my palate. Definitely give it a try!
Deserving of a 3.5 star rating, but not enough for a 4 tbh. I’d for sure come back though!

My boyfriend and I like to visit breweries when he comes down to visit, it’s probably one of my favorite things to do together and since there’s so many, we’re never bored!
…did I mention we’re huge Star wars nerds?
So in light of the new movie, we HAD to pay a visit.
Small brewery hidden in the corner of a sleek black building. Nice seating and an open back area so the place doesn’t get too stuffy.
We tried most of the menu and they were all pretty okay. Not exactly my cup of tea but I am always happy to try any beer once. I do remember enjoying their coconut porter out of all the samplers we purchased.
Great environment, satisfying wall art (for the nerd inside), silly names for their beer, and well crafted drinks. If it were more my taste, I would definitely come back because I do enjoy the environment!

It is a hidden gem in a office/​industrial park. Within two miles of walk from home. Nice place to walk to for a couple of tasters. 5 tasters for $ 9. I enjoyed almost all of them. I liked the imperial stout, scotch ale and triple iPA. I liked the imperial stouts more than the well liked Coconut Porter or Milk Stout. I missed out the Rye Ale. Next time.

Great little Endeavour! This Enterprise is run by a young couple who clearly know how to brew beer and also have a lot of fun naming the beer, such as the Shut up Wesley Wheat, which we giggled about but didn’t try. The Walking Carpet Brown was my beer of choice followed by the Amber, both very fine examples of the art!
The place is a bit hidden, so watch closely for the signs, persevere and you will find it. After all, it’s not like the place is located on Atlantis or something. You will be happy with your Discovery! The only Challenger I see here is the size of the establishment, but I am told they are opening some additional space soon.
While there was no food available other than snacks, one can grab the menu at the bar and call up Pauly’s Pizza Joint and an amazing pizza will arrive a bit later.
I have to say that in the many years since I was born in the District of Colombia there have been few better evenings spent having a pint with a friend! Thinking about taking a trip to Intergalactic? Make it so!

If you’re into Star Wars and great beers, you might as well stop reading this review now and head right over to Intergalactic Brewing.
This has become one of my favorite breweries in the beer-​saturated area that is Miramar/​Mira Mesa. They offer flights for a really low price, and each beertender I’ve been served by has been very knowledgable about everything on tap, and ready with suggestions. They have good stouts and strong porters, like their award-​winning coconut porter, but also a more recent honey porter that is delicious. I like sours, and this is one of the few places that has a sour ale on tap every time I’ve gone in. A different one, at that! They’ve recently bottled a couple too, available for purchase in the taproom — I currently have a plum sour saison chilling at home.
Their theme is obvious from the name, and so most — if not all — beers have space-​y names too. And you can go back to one of their corners and take a pic with Han frozen in carbonite, or hangin’ out with Chewie and C-​3PO. You can also purchase adorable lightsaber earrings for $ 5 if that’s your thing. I’ve also noticed that they have a giant TV on which they’ll play either a major sporting event or The Twilight Zone.
As far as food is concerned: I haven’t seen any food trucks nearby nor a schedule indicating they have trucks come around. They sell gourmet pretzels at the counter; those seem like the product of a local business which is always nice to support. Other reviews indicate that IB allows patrons to bring in outside food, which is a bigger added bonus!

On a recent San Diego brewery tour, my friends and I stopped off at Intergalactic to try our their brews. Like many of the Beeramar breweries, Intergalactic is housed in a pretty basic industrial business park warehouse space. It’s main door is a roll-​up door to the parking lot, but they do have another entrance in the back. Going with a space theme, they have a number of Star Wars posters up, as well as some older vintage ones. But what’s really important is their beer.
On this visit, I tried two of their offereings: The coconut porter and the White IPA with cucumber and grapefruit. The porter was nice and smooth, with a very subtle hint of coconut flavor that came on at the end and lingered for only a brief moment. It was good, but not as robust as I like porters to be. Would I drink it again? Happily. The White IPA was interesting. The flavors of cucumber was their but I couldn’t find the grapefruit, it’s tartness masked by the deep goodness of the IPA itself. All in all, a good experience.
There are a lot of fantastic breweries in the Miramar area. Yes, everyone knows Ballast Point and Alesmith and they are great, but it’s always good to try out the smaller crafts brews like Intergalactic and Division 23!

This was our first stop of the night and I’ve been back again since then.
First things first: nerds UNITE! Star Wars, Star Trek, and other sci-​fi nerdy things are featured here and is the inspiration for their name and brew names. So this makes for a unique and fun stop for sure (check out some of my photos).
Each of my group members got a flight, and if we were smart about it… which we weren’t, we could have tried them all. Their descriptions of their beers are true to the beers themselves, which is nice to know you get what you are expecting rather than being disappointed that you can’t taste the flavors in what you selected.
My favorite, along with my boyfriends was call The Companion (this last time it was no longer on tap /​cry) which was delicious. Several of their others were very good (a chocolate mint stout, an orange Creamsicle one, a cake batter one… the flavor was there but not overpowering or too sweet… also sorry I don’t remember the names of them but they do a great job, promise).
The more recent time we went, I got the newest addition: a dark boysenberry sour. I still like 32 Norths sours over anything else I’ve had. Intergalactics was good but not my favorite. I think I personally like lighter sours all around.
My boyfriend and I love this place though. It is harder to find but worth it! Put this planet on your list of stops in the galaxy… er put this brewery on your list of… well, you get it.

I will start this by saying I am not a beer person, at all. I won’t even pretend to know what I’m talking about when it comes to beer. I am more of a wino. With that being said, my friends brought me here trying to introduce me to a beer or two that I might like. We did a flight with 5 tastings and I was pleasantly surprised. I felt like this brewery was created for me. I actually liked the taste of what I was drinking! The cranberry and vanilla were my favs.
The ambience is cool. It’s star wars themed so if you’re a fan that’s an added bonus. The names of the beers are also fun. Service was great. There is no food here, but they allow you to bring food from the outside which is what we did. This place is kind of small and the tables can fill up. The night that we went it was super hot in there, no AC and not very good ventilation. There seems to be a wide selection of beers on tap, lots of options here.
I can’t wait to come back and try something new, with the hopes that I may actually be able to say yes I like beer!

Intergalactic Planetary, Planetary Intergalactic! Best name for a brewery for sure! I help can’t think of the good Ol’ legendary Beastie Boys when I think of this brewery.
Location: Off of Black Mtn Road and Carroll Canyon Road. Up the street from the gas station. Hidden behind a lot of other industrial buildings. Beware when following the signs of «Tasting Room» you have to drive through a very narrow driveway. Plenty of parking! You will not miss it.
Décor: If you are a fan of Star Wars, this is the place to be! A huge Chewbacca and his friends are posted up on the wall! Not that much seating and no standing zone by the bar. There is also a little private room located towards the rear of the brewery. One unisex bathroom.
Beer Tasting: Great variety of beer! Awesome names as well. My favorite was the Cucumber and Cranberry beer (the girly ones of course)
Service: EXCELLENT DUDE! Jake was awesome and answered all the questions we had. A list in my book! Will highly recommend and re visit.

I LOVE the atmosphere here! A place that sells good beer with fun names, has Dr. Who and Star Wars artwork plastered everywhere, and super friendly staff? Yes please. The only reason I gave them four stars instead of five is because I wasn’t very impressed by their stouts, which unfortunately, is mostly what I drink at breweries.
We came in on a Saturday and it wasn’t too crazy, so we managed to get a table right back by my main men Chewie, R2 and C3PO. We ordered two flights and tried almost every beer they had– we even had a fun bartender who poured all our tasters then wrote all the names down by memory. And it wasn’t very expensive at all!
Overall: good selection of beer, fun staff, good vibes, and their theme is out of this world ;)

Another Dimension, Another Dimension…
I took two flights at Intergalactic and it was a good spaceship ride. Ten tastes out of the available eighteen drafts that night and my final bill was only $ 16. Great beer variety, flavors, and value. The theme speaks to my inner sci-​fi nerd, with mostly Star Trek and Star Wars references, with some classic Forbidden Planet and Dr. Who influences sprinkled in. A little Futurama, Starcraft, Halo, or Mass Effect to tie in some new school couldn’t hurt.

Kinda bummed that they didn’t have cask, nitro, or barrel aged offerings when I visited, but the wide variety of available draft beer options is perfectly fine by me. Unless there’s a special event or prior announcement, there is no kitchen on site, so factor that in if you might be getting the munchies during your journey into the far reaches of the beer galaxy.
Plenty of parking at the industrial park. Follow the signs pointing towards to the rolltop garage door, and enjoy the mancave geek chic inspired décor. I overheard that office space leases may be opening up and Intergalactic may consider swapping spots to possibly ramp up batch production with additional square footage. Maybe I was getting faded and daydreaming from the ABVs. Either way, check out Intergalactic’s beer. There’s a little something for everybody’s palate range to enjoy from fruity, bitter, coconutty, or chocolaty to quench that interstellar thirst.
