Incept 3D

Our company designs research grade microscopes. Most of our parts require precision tolerances, and finding high quality 3D printed parts for our prototypes has always been a challenge. We’ve used quite a few companies (locally and out of state) and Michael at Incept 3D has proven himself as our go-​to-​guy. The quality of his work, his pricing, and communication are all top notch.
I was really surprised to read the negative reviews but noticed that one of the customers only posted 1 star reviews. I guess some people are just nasty :/​

And here is the whole story:
What actually happened is I consulted with them about whether to use Objet or FDM because we were price sensitive and the customer service person mislead me to order FDM and did not warn me that the quality is going to be absolute shit. In fact, I can do much better on a MakerBot. When they shipped the parts to me, they were actually missing regions because the resolution was so bad. Why would they ever even ship out such bad quality parts, they could have told me that their FDM method cannot make the geometry of these parts, but instead they actually shipped me those faulty parts, and I payed $ 180 for them, which was just $ 40 cheaper than Objet, which I would have gladly payed for have they told me that FDM is not going to be able to produce the right geometry and that there would me missing regions. After I received the parts, I have contacted them on the phone and by email, and have expressed my concern and asked if they be so kind as to make new parts using Objet for the price difference that I have already payed for. But my request was rejected, I was offered 10% discount. Then I requested a full refund for the FDM payment and they have refused to refund me the money also, and instead offered 20% discount. The customer service was absolute rude and not understanding at all, and I felt being taken advantage of, like oh you got bad parts, thats your problem, even though I went off the recommendation of the customer service, but they held no responsibility of it. Then, it gets even better, after 2 weeks, I guess they saw my review here on Unilocal and Michael is contacting me. Telling me that they have made the Objet parts as I have requested, and he attached a photo of those parts. I was super confused, he also finished the message with this sentence: «Your negative review on Unilocal is going to make things even more difficult for me, especially after I paid to have the Objet parts printed (per your request) which you never followed through with ordering.» So he was now blaming me that I didnt follow through with the order and he had to pay for those out of his own pocket. I was highly annoyed with Michael, I definitely did not request those parts to be made, and now he is blaming me for paying for those parts out of pocket. So I emailed him back saying that I did not request those parts and have no idea why he made them. He emailed me back saying that Kyle (the customer service guy) actually «meant to» email me to agree to make the parts for the price difference. Which was again confusing, because if he «meant to» agree to it, then why instead did he actually email me and refused that option? So Im emailing Michael back saying that it would have been useful 2 weeks ago, but I have already had the parts made somewhere else and I had to pay essentially double the price for them, because I wasted my money on the FDM. And it gets even better, Michael sends me a long rant about the difficulties of being a business owner and having million dollar equipments, and managing customers and supporting a family. And that he wished that I would talk to them first about my concerns rather than posting a negative feedback and that they have tried fixing the issue by making me new Objet parts right away. So the guy obviously is making up his own story, because I did address my issue with him first and they did not make new parts right away, it was 2 weeks later! So I told him that by email and then I get another email asking me to take down the review. So I told him that he could refund me the money for the FDM order, and I would take down the review. Which I think is fair, because those parts were completely useless to us, and did not meet the required specs, and really should never been shipped by anyone who cares about their customers. And it gets even better: I get an insulting email from him telling me that I am threatening him and bribing him. Unbelievable! Officially, this is the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE NIGHTMARE Ive ever had! If I get another email from these people its going straight to trash without reading. Stay away from those guys.

I go to Michael and Kyle for all of my 3D printing needs. These guys own and operate the shop, and are completely committed to doing what ever it takes to make sure I get what I need. I’ve given them some pretty un-​realistic schedules to meet, and they’ve worked nights and weekends to produce quality products to meet my tight deadlines. They’ve got the high end machines to create fine detail parts, but it’s more their service that makes me a devoted customer.

These guys did a great job with my parts. They know what they are doing and the parts are far better than something you’ll get from a cheap consumer machine. I had some functional gears and cam followers printed and acetone smoothed.
The negative review by Robert seems to stem from his unfamiliarity with 3D printing, and it is too bad he blamed it on these guys. And by the way, these guys go out of their way to explain things.

Not really happy with the quality of service of the agent.
We agreed to print two parts initially estimated to do fine printing for $ 580. I’ve done some research and found a cheaper options at different 3d printing company but they were not available to print my prototype until January. So I asked Michael if he can match/​reduce the quote to $ 500. We agreed that it will be fine printed prototype.
When I came I found both objects with some misprinted spots, burned sections and overall low quality print. Previously I had a chance to print couple of my smaller prototypes in San Diego library. They didn’t have such an expensive and professional 3d printers but quality among the three fine, medium and low was equal to low fast printed object.
My understanding it was not really a match of the price for the same fine printing but rather sacrificing of quality for reduced price. If I knew that would not print it out. I felt like I paid for a good product but was handed a bad one.
