HYATT house San Diego/Sorrento Mesa

I stayed here just to have a little stay-​cation. I loved it! Nice and friendly staff, check-​in was quick and easy. When I arrived, I was told they upgraded me to a suite, which was really nice! Clean and spacious rooms. The breakfast was also good with lots of options. I love this place! No complaints!

This might be one of the best Hyatt houses in the system, especially after the renovations. We had a kitchen suite, with a full-​sized fridge… great for keeping snacks and drinks on hand. The breakfast (complimentary for all) was above average, with plenty of options for everyone, including an omelet bar. Free parking is a plus.

Beyond amazing customer service from the entire staff. Amazing facility and room prices. Amazing breakfast etc., The entire team at this hotel are doing incredible job! I used to work at the Ritz Carlton Miami, Fl and I know what is customer service. Therefore I highly recommend this property for five star experience on a budget.

What a wonderful experience. We checked in on a Friday and were upgraded right away to a suite. The staff was so friendly and gave us a ton of recommendations about what to check out in the area. We used their shuttle service to go to lunch and it was perfect! Free breakfast each morning till 10am and it was delicious! I 100% will be returning for our next San Diego trip and will make sure to recommend them to friends!

Gentleman at the front desk (evening shift). I am a regular at this hotel. I am here every week. So, when I ask for a charger for my iPhone, please don’t tell me «I’m sorry, the regulars have them» and make zero effort to help.
My rating is for the morning shift — they are amazing!

We stayed in one of the regular King rooms. I thought all the rooms were suites with kitchens, however they aren’t so make sure you know what you’re getting when you book your room! Would have loved a suite, but our king room wasn’t bad. The Hyatt grand bed was so comfortable, probably my favorite thing about staying in Hyatt’s. The bathroom was pretty large and spacious. Loved their modern shower head.
Their free buffet breakfast was very good. Lots of options ranging from oatmeal, fruits, breads, hot foods, yogurt and an omelette station. I love the layout and how all the stations are spread out to avoid crowding in one area. There is also tons of seating, inside and outside. The patio area is great. They is even a fire pit to sit in front of and enjoy your food. They did a great job designing the community area of this Hyatt!
Shoutout to the one man team who did a great job restocking all the breakfast item! Wish I caught his name. He was running around making sure everything was filled, greeting people and always had a huge smile on his face. He was the highlight of our trip here. It’s great when you see workers who enjoy their work and are so happy, it makes me happy! We definitely let him know he was doing a great job. Bravo!
I wanted to point out that breakfast stays open one hour later on the weekends. The lady who checked us in told us it was from 7 – 9 so we totally had to rush to catch it, but it actually goes till 10am on weekdays. Wish we had known that as we could have caught more snooze time but oh wells.
Parking is free and plentiful. This location is pretty huge so definitely helps to park near your room (our room was way on the other side of the lobby area).
Prices were reasonable, they have deals here and there which is awesome. I’d definitely recommend staying here & make sure you get a suite!

It’s a bit of a drive to downtown San Diego but this place is EXCELLENT. Great customer service, wonderful restaurant. Has a private bedroom when you bring your children along, microwave, fridge, full kitchen, living room with balcony. Beautiful shower and all the necessities you need, you may borrow items and several game boards to enjoy. Happy hour at the bar. Nice swimming pool and jacuzzi. Simply perfect.

My bf and i had an excellent stay at this hotel. We got a pretty good deal through trivago on a last minute trip to San Diego. We arrived at 10 am. and they were very generous and let us check in early because they had rooms available. Our room was beautiful and clean, we stayed in a king suite with full kitchen, micorwave, stove, dishes, sink, fridge, coffee maker, even utensils. We had a small living room with tv and couches and a separate room for our bedroom with a bathroom in the next room. The bathroom was large as well. We had a balcony room with a view to the pool. We wishes we could have stayed longer we enjoyed our stay. Also free breakfast, they have an omelette bar and other breakfasts food with coffee, d etc. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Also free parking. Only downfall is thw location isn’t too great, it’s more of a business area, we nooked this hotel because it was near the event we came for. Great hotel though.

This hotel is so cool that they even offer a library of books, board games for the family to borrow (ok, this yurned me into mush!!! I love it!)
And they will even go as far as to shop for your groceries and stock the fridge in your suite if you order the service.

Dog friendly! I love how there weren’t lists of rules and restrictions with charges left and right when it came to my dog. They were very welcoming and I love how you can conveniently use the back or side doors to go on a little stroll with my dog.
The bed is comfy and the bathroom is nice. A bulb was out when I was there but I was too tired to even complain about it after having to clean the room myself. That’s one of the downsides when I checked in. Even though the room is beautiful with a full kitchen, things were left behind from the previous guest. This means housekeeping made everything appear nice but didn’t actually clean. I think all hotels in general are dirty anyways so I did spray everything down with dosinfectant spray so no big deal. Also, make sure to wash any dishes, cups, silverware you use. It’s dirty! Depending on who else is staying at the hotel, it can get pretty noisy with door slams and loud guests. Also, I had my DND dog sign on the door and was told I wouldnt be bothered so my dog stays quiet. Unfortunately a staff member still decided to knock and my dog started barking, disturbing other guests because she can be loud. That was a minor annoyance.
Upon check-​out, I did forget a couple things and housekeeping were prompt to turn it in to the front desk and they called me right away so I can retrieve it before leaving town. The staff I did encounter were honest and nice so that’s a plus.
If I’m ever in the area I would stay here again. No place can be perfect so it’s no big deal.

This hotel is five stars for for business or family vacation travel. This place has a lot to offer:
Make sure to get a king suite and not the two bed room. The king suites are great with a large bedroom, king bed, nice marble bathroom, separate living area, two TVs, a full kitchenette and a sleeper sectional. The two bed rooms are standard small hotel rooms with no amenities. Believe me when I say there is a huge comfort difference between these two rooms types without a big difference in price.
They have a nice free buffet breakfast every morning.
There is free parking.
It is located in a generally quiet business area. This may be a good or bad thing. It’s nice that there isn’t a lot of traffic in the area and there is easy freeway access. It isn’t located right next to the more touristy areas, but that also means you have to drive to get to those areas and there aren’t a lot of restaurant options located right next to the hotel, but still plenty of options within a five minute drive.
So why three stars:
I was forced to use this hotel for a local soccer tournament which I am sure many people that use this hotel are. This hotel is located just a few miles away from Del Mar where one of the largest youth soccer tournaments in the nation is held each year. This hotel is part of the tournaments stay and play policy where you must stay at this hotel when participating in the tournament and the hotel pays a percentage of the room fees back to the hosting soccer club.
With that said this is not a great hotel option for groups. The hotel does not cater to groups and also requires all patrons to sign off that you will abide to a long list of rules and if the rules are not followed you may be escorted off the premises by police.
The hotel has a nice outside patio, but does not allow for outside food or drinks. The hotel also does not staff the kitchen well enough to get food out quickly so when a group tries to abide to the no outside food or drink rule to kitchen cannot accommodate the request.
The hotel was not accommodating on breakfast time. Our team had 8:00AM games each day and the players need to be on the field at 7:00AM. The Game is over by 9:30AM so we get back to the hotel at 10:00AM. Breakfast is from 7 – 10 and the hotel did not accommodate requests to open early or stay open late. So we never were able to have breakfast at the hotel.
This hotel need to do a better job in accommodating the needs of the soccer teams that are forced to stay there. The hotel is gaining from the tournaments but not making forth a great effort to meet the needs of the large team groups staying there.

Hyatt House isn’t like the other Hyatt hotels I’ve stayed at. It is a smaller hotel and doesn’t have room service but it offers things you don’t see in regular hotels.
The rooms have a kitchen with everything you would need to cook and offers to let you borrow anything that’s not already in the room. If you plan your stay right, you can cook all your meals just the way you like them in the comfort of your own room. Gives you the vibe your staying in a home instead of a hotel room hence the «Hyatt House» name.
Seems like they have recently remodeled all the rooms to have a more modern feel to it. I stayed in the suite, I think the only difference is the bigger kitchen and the living room is separated from the bedroom. There were LG flat screens in both the living room and bedroom, both with HDMI hookups so you can hookup your laptop or gaming system. The shower was really big but no bathtub. The sofa in the living room was also a pullout couch.
They provide free parking, wifi (couple of dead zones in the hotel), and a free breakfast. They had an omelet station, fruit, pastries, cereal, eggs, and some other hot food they rotate daily. They must have a lot of guests from Asia for business because they also had rice and miso soup for breakfast.
Every hotel employee I had interactions with was really courteous and friendly. Really liked talking to Paul the bartender, he is a one man show at the bar. He does the serving, bussing, dish washing and bartending all by himself. Really amazing how he does what he does without any help on the floor.
If you want to stay in a big fancy hotel with a large staff and multiple restaurants, this one is not for you. If you don’t mind the smaller more intimate setting this hotel might exceed your expectations.

Awful… stay away from this place…8 rooms were booked at this hotel for soccer tournament… since our room was extremely small compared to the other rooms (for 4 people), and didn’t have a kitchen like the others, we asked for a bigger room. Jennifer (front desk) said: Since you didn’t paid for the room, can’t upgrade you. You get what you get and you don’t complain. How rude!
What we got was a room with no closet, but with a portable closet was that attached to the TV. Bathroom had only 3 towels and bathroom door was loose at the hinges. It seemed we had to beg Jennifer for towels and she was surprised only 3 towels were in the bathroom.
As we were getting to go sleep, we noticed there were stains on the sheets on both beds. We called Jennifer and she sent new sheets. We ended up sleeping in our sleeping bags as the new sheets had stains also.
Breakfast was average, nothing worth mentioning.
We will definitely skip this hotel for all of our future soccer tournaments.

Got a two queen bed room, there’s not much room but it is very nice. One thing I don’t like is the space and rooms are super cold and blankets are thin. Good customer service and free parking!

I really really liked this place. Came here the August 6 – 9 2015 weekend. For my daughters birthday weekend. Legoland and SeaWorld weekend!
First, checked in, smooth. Lady requested my credit card, held 45 $. Gave me my two keys and map to my room. One key only worked. But, was fixed right away. Room was really clean with all the fixings. Room 449. 1 bedroom suite with kitchen and sofa bed.
I still brought a queen sized inflatable bed (didn’t need it) 2 kids and 1 adult. Oh, with balcony!!!
We actually got to the hotel at like 9:30pm so hungry from the drive. So I hopped on my laptop to search for either delivery or pick up. To my surprise everything closed at 9 and 10pm. Wth??? Weird! So I ended up having to order pizza Hut like 4 miles away. Plus picking it up. It was such an inconvenience because my gps had me jumping on the 805 north and both entrances were closed. I HAD TO JUMP IN THE SOUTH AND EXIT AND JUMP ON THE NORTH. Which was 2 long miles each way. Finally got there… and the pizza by 10:50. Came back to the hotel and ate. honestly I didn’t like that everything closed so early and nothing was easy to get to. I live in LA. And im soo not use to that. No cars were in sight… it was sooo dead. I could of busted donuts in the middle of the streets and race high speeds for miles and not got caught.
No problem with that I had the kids… I guess.
Second day, went to the buffet breakfast in the lobby 6:30−10am Monday-​Fridays. Buffet had waffles, scrabbled eggs, oatmeal, ham, omelet area, cearal, fruit, toast, milk, apple and orange juices plus coffee. Nice choices!!! We even took our food back to our rooms because we stayed up all night from the excitement of being here… we actually stayed in half of the day because, they knocked out right after they ate :(
My daughter and her uncle, both 9 and 11year olds wanted to hit up the gym (open ²⁴⁄₇) the gym had a lot of variety of equipment choices, also! Went shopping and load and behold a million freaking cars… it looked so different. Then I noticed that there was alot of industrial buildings… with buisness stuffed up in there, making it easy to miss places that I was gps’ing. Resulting in miles of u-​turns. Because the streets were lonnnngggg blocks with center dividers and no u-​turn lights. anyway, finally came back and they wanted to eat (made dinner this time) and play xbox. Okay this wasn’t easy either. I wish they had Internet for gaming because I had to use my hot spots on my phone. I thought that if they offered direct Internet line. It would have been no problem. I went downstairs to request it. Handy man brought it up connected it told me to enter the code from chrome on the xbox… But, I couldn’t get it to work. :(
When I cooked I had everything I needed in the kitchen. The microwave/​convection oven was also nice. Everything stainless steel!!!
Including, dishwasher!
The pool, nice for night swimming.
Overall, I would probably stay here again… considering I know my way around the area now from getting lost… all the employees were very welcoming… except this one airhead/​deer in the headlight, girl I came across thrice, that had to ask her Co worker, what I was talking about, and, he would take over. Had to mention it because it happened three times. That she couldn’t answer simple questions regarding the amenities of the hotel she works for.
FYI: I stayed here because it’s right smack in the middle of sea world and lego land. But on my way to both I hit bumper to bumper traffic. On the 5 each way.

Everything about this hotel was amazing! We stayed here for a few days for our vacation and I’m so glad we picked this hotel!
I booked a standard room and we got upgraded to a suite! My boyfriend has never stayed at a suite before so it was like seeing a kid in a candy store. Lol. The suite was a great size. Fully stocked kitchen, pull out sofa bed, flat screen tv, king size bed, and a lovely bathroom. We loved it.
We had to bring our dogs with us so the suite was the perfect size. The hotel is pet friendly and they charge you a $ 75 pet fee. They also have complimentary breakfast. Another plus? We went to order drinks at the bar and usually you have to stay there with your drinks but we got to take our drinks back to our room as well! I’ll definitely be staying here again when I’m in San Diego!

Stayed over memorial weekend for 2 nights. Nice room although not very clean carpets. Still had items and trash from previous guest (s). Breakfast was plentiful but not the best. They were understaffed especially with the amount of people and families staying there. There was some sort of baseball and crossfit events going on. No parking and was told that I may have to park down the street. Thankfully a nice employee moved her car somewhere else so I could have her spot. Not sure if I would stay here again. It wasn’t the worst but not the best either.

Wow… This place is amazing … The Room conditions were excellent … We stayed in the king suite. Bed was super comfortable and was able to blackout room!!!
We had a full kitchen which was spacious and had everything you needed!
Free wifi and breakfast with a huge spread … From made to order omelets to, sausage, potatoes, cereals, fresh fruit, bagels, toast, pastries, coffee, tea, milk and juices … And they even had miso soup and a make your own sushi bar
This is the place to stay!!!

I love the look of the hotel, and the spacious feel of our room!
We got a King suite, which consisted of one room, one living room, and a kitchen. While our couch was able to separate into 2 different pieces (did not like this), our kitchen was so great! The perfect space for two. The bathroom was modern, with a big vanity mirror that lights up around the border. The shower was phenomenal! The shower head was placed super high, which is a gigantic plus for two tall people (5’10″ and 6’5″), and came down like waterfall. Only downside – no tub :(couldn’t use my Lush bath bomb.
There is continental breakfast served daily in the morning, from 7am-​10am. There is large seating area; we always opted to sit at the bar. There’s an omelette station too! And a separate station for juices, and a second one for hot water (tea packets available) and coffee.
There free parking at this hotel — don’t let the 3^rd party hotel booking sites fool you!!! We paid ~$ 16 more per day, for «free parking» and «free breakfast,» both of which are already offered at this hotel without that extra charge!
The only downside is that this location is far from everything to do in San Diego. We always had to drive at least 30+mins to get anywhere to eat or do.
Otherwise, this was a very comfortable stay!

Initially, I wasn’t sure whether to book a hotel here for the night because it only had a 3.5 star rating but, honestly, it’s not that bad!
