Holiday Inn San Diego Miramar – Mcas Area

Ok, so I didn’t actually stay here. Long story short: I got a reservation. I checked in, put my luggage in the room. Left and a few hours later I got an emergency call that I had to be somewhere that night. I went back and told the front desk. They were happy to refund my reservation (through Hotwire) due to my emergency. The staff was very friendly and I am bummed we didn’t get to stay here cause it was probably the nicest holiday inn I’ve seen.
Update: from 5 to 4 stars. After one of the managers left, I called back and the woman that helped me (sounded foreign, maybe from the Philippines) was not helpful, and very short, and told me the manager was no longer with them. I had some questions about potentially staying there and she was not helpful. The customer service didn’t seem to be the best on that employees end, this may not reflect the whole of the hotel, but it’s unfortunate that one employee can affect the look of a hotel by there communications with a guest. Still a nice place though, and I do recommend.

Stayed here a couple of times over the holiday weeks. If you’re looking for a trademark San Diego spot, I don’t think this is the place. If you’re looking for a getaway or staycation (as we were), you could do a lot worse.
First, location, while not beachy or touristy, it is not bad. It’s right off the freeway (expect some traffic noise), and Miramar is fairly central to most things around SD county. The hotel is easy to get to, and parking shouldn’t be a problem.
The rooms are fairly nice and standard. Everything seemed pretty clean. I’m not a good bed judge (since I need a couple nights to get used to unfamiliar beds), but it seemed comfortable enough. Rooms are equipped with a TV, microwave, and fridge, all of which went unused. Also, expect two complimentary bottles of water! Unfortunately, they do not get replenished.
The bathroom was quite spacious, I thought. I guess I may be accustomed to «express» hotels, so this seemed like an upgrade. The shower head was also at an appropriate height for tall (er) people (I’m 5’11″). There was no fan in the bathroom, which isn’t a huge deal. And hopefully you like bathroom privacy all the time because the door will spring shut. I assume this is a safety thing since the bathroom is near the entrance.
There is also a very small fitness center. It has two treadmills and a third machine which was either stairs or an elliptical.
Can’t comment on the food, but inside is a restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner. No free continental breakfast here, but they do give you a 10% off coupon to use.
All in all, it was a pleasant hotel stay.

Holiday Inn Miramar Road location is a decent hotel. We stayed in a King Suite for a Saturday night visit (19 Sept 2015) with family. The room was very large and there was plenty of room for everyone. We used the pool, the fitness center and room service. The room (Room 420) was well appointed, clean and well worth the price ($ 170 base price).
Room service was reasonably priced and the food was ok. The fitness center had one elliptical, and two treadmills (it was a small room though). The hotel pool was nice, there were plenty of clean towels and a pool/​housekeeping attendant stopped by asked if we needed water or more towels. It was a nice touch.
I rated the visit ⁴⁄₅ stars as the kitchenette sink didn’t drain very well (Drano seriously needed), the delivered room service hamburger sliders were over cooked as well as the homemade potato chips, and it was hard to maintain an even temperature in the room but that was probably more of a factor of the overall humidity of San Diego at this time.
Overall, we enjoyed the hotel and would stay here again.

Very impressive front view and very modern when you first walk in. When we got up to our room the first thing we all noticed was the smell of smoke in the room, very disappointing when you are expecting a non-​smoking room. The room overall was nice and large, we had paid for the 1 bedroom suite, clean but smelled of smoke. (big disappointment, for the amount of money it cost us for the room)
My mother in law called the front desk to see if it’s possible to have a different room and was told the hotel was full and nothing was available, at that point she did handle the situation differently then I would have, we were offered to be moved the following day in which we were only there for one night so that would not be a solution, then we were offered a free breakfast coupon, which was declined since that would not solve the smell of the room. We all decided to just ignore the issue and asked to have someone come spray the room. That was done, still smelled like that deep smoke smell that could not be removed but spraying.
On to dinner, we stayed to eat at the hotel since it was late. There was only 2 people in the restaurant with a oriental gentleman working behind the bar. He seemed very nice and accommodating at first. He was a little hard to understand due to a hard accent. I had ordered my son grilled chicken with only watermelon since that’s the only fruit he eats, if they did not have just watermelon then I would take fries. When his plate came out it was grilled cheese with a side of melon (canalope & honeydew) nothing what I ordered. I then addressed the issue and he seemed very irritated that it was wrong. He what I believe went back to check what he wrote down and came around the corner and pointed at me and spoke so fast I could not understand what he said but I believe he said «grilled chicken is NOT what I ordered» and stormed off, came back around a minute later and asked if I wanted the order to be fixed? (or course since grilled cheese is not what I wanted, my son does not like grilled cheese or else I would have just asked him to eat it, but that’s not the point). (thank god everyone else order was fine) we were so worn out we went back to our room and ended up showering and all falling asleep.
In the morning we checked out and dinner was written off for the inconvenience which was nice but still just a disaterous experience and not what you are expecting with the amount of money spent for a hotel.
I do understand that sometimes things happen and I believe we were there at the wrong time and hopefully this isn’t the experience for other people, but we will not be returning to this hotel.

My husband and I arrived at about 1 AM– nearly 3 hours later than we expected. We were groggy and exhausted as we entered the lobby. As we checked in, I realized I was missing some specific hygiene materials (contact lens solution, etc.) and had no idea where to get them nearby. The front desk attendant (Jae) cheerfully gave clear, concise instructions, which made the trip a million times easier for sleep-​deprived me! (Sure, there’s GPS, but when I’m tired, it helps to hear it from a human being. And it was just nice.) When I returned, he greeted me again and asked if I got there alright. Talk about building a repor!
When I got to the room, the cleanliness, style, and quality of amenities was breathtaking– on par with what you might see in a Marriott. I was not expecting it, to be honest. Hotels of similar price in the area came nowhere near the standards we found. It’s a shame we only got to experience one night!
I also appreciated the late check-​out. Most hotels stick to 10 or 11 AM, but the noon check-​out felt downright luxurious (especially after our late night!) We weren’t bothered by any cleaning staff either, which has occurred at other hotels. Keep it up, Holiday Inn!

Came here for a quick getaway with my husband. The girl at the front desk was not at all friendly, but she probably hates her job. The room was clean and right off the freeway, so those are both a good thing. Because we booked through Hotels Tonight, they said that the breakfast was not included and would be $ 12.95. Ok. Here is the reason for the 1 star review: the toilet backed up at 4:30 in the morning (not due to anything we did) and water was everywhere. When I called down to the front desk, they said they would send someone up. The guy showed up and handed my husband a plunger. When I called back down, they could tell I was not happy with that solution and switched our room.
This is a training issue. I will avoid Holiday Inn properties from now on.

I enrolled my son in Point Guard College a four day basketball camp at Alliant University in San Diego. In looking at the hotels near the site I chose the Holiday Inn. I chose this location mainly because of the great reviews. Been here three days and I must say it as nice as some 5 star hotels I’ve been too. The staff is so nice and know about customer service. It’s very CLEAN! Will be coming back in December for Shooting College. Will definitely book a room here.

VERY happy with this hotel. Took our basketball club team there over Memorial Day and Kristen, the group sales coordinator helped me out a lot to get all the rooms together for 2 teams. The hotel was clean, rooms were big and they had a nice breakfast, lounge, another nice Chinese restaurant on the premises, and a nice pool and fitness room too. I highly recommend them. They were very accommodating and great for a group too. Very close to Mira Mesa shopping center with tons of restaurants, shops, movies, etc. Just off the freeway but rooms are very quiet! Will visit again!

My least favorite IHG facility.
This place used to be managed well, evidence by the awards on display in the lobby, and the décor spared no expense when they last decorated it.
However it is poorly managed.
The mattress was the worst object I have ever tried to sleep on!
The paint on the bathroom door was sticky (& not ‘fresh paint’ sticky either), the surface of all the tables in the room were glazed with some greasy oily substance, and the gym facilities were severely lacking. Two tread mills and one elliptical a pool and a ‘half filled’ hot tub!
I would look elsewhere for a place to stay.

2^nd stay here. Last time was in 2013. Our room was really nice, I could be in a Marriott, Sheraton, Hyatt or Hilton. The beds are comfy, the rooms have microwave, frig and coffee maker. We had a king bed and it also had a sofa in the room. The bathroom is roomy with a bowed shower curtain. Bath and Body Works shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion is really Nice. Down pillows, crisp white striped sheets, extra outlets in the lamps, nice sized flat screen tv.
Great service at the front desk, breakfast included. We will be back!

Gym is a little small, restaurant needs more vegetarian options.
Parking lot is little tight at times. Recommend using the spaced that edge the building perimeter. More room to back out.

Customer service was fantastic ! I did not have any trouble checking in or checking out. The hotel offers free parking, free wifi, and free all you can eat breakfast from 6am to 10am ! Definitely worth the money.

My husband just stayed here recently due to a quick business trip in San Diego, and needed a good deal on a room for the night. Booked this hotel through Priceline for an excellent rate — rec’d over 50% off the regular rate. Parking was free so that was nice. The room was clean (spot checked for bed bugs… none found). He opted out of the complimentary breakfast and grabbed something elsewhere so can’t review that. One thing he did mention was that the TV was terrible — he said he couldn’t watch 2 minutes of a show without the program acting up. Good thing he was tired from the flight and not too interested in TV.
Overall, the room satisfied expectations for the pupose and was a good value for the price paid. Location was nice (in terms of close proximity to the 15 freeway).

Free wifi and free breakfast! One of the nicest holiday inn’s I have stayed at. I get the corporate rate which saves me a little bit of money per night. All in all this a great hotel to stay at in San Diego for the price! Free parking and easy to get too! Not abad deal at all!

Nice hotel. But this is why I book Holiday Inn’s. Very consistent, nice chain. This property is pretty good. Although be advised. Water pressure is horrible. No free breakfast or coffee in lobby. And absolutely no food or restaurants (other than a Chinese place) in walking distance. Other than that. I like property, have stayed here before, and I will again.

It was OK. Room was clean and the breakfast buffet was what you would expect it to be. Not fantastic but decent options and plenty of food.
Our biggest complaint would be the weak water pressure. It felt like a camper shower and our toilet would randomly make a loud noise and a huge air bubble would come up through the toilet bowl. Luckily it was only air and not backed up feces.
Wouldn’t be my first choice.

Stayed here for a night during a quick trip to visit family in Santee, San Diego.
Staff was friendly and service oriented. The facilities and my room was clean — stocked with towels and everything I would need, plus free wifi! On Sunday mornings they have breakfast buffet for a fair price and the food itself is standard.
I would definitely recommend this establishment to anyone going to or near Santee, San Diego.

Checked in on a Saturday evening and was greeted with a friendly check-​in by a front desk person who had all my paperwork ready and asked me what amenity i would prefer for being a loyal IHG reward member which I chose a drink at the bar which included beer or wine. My room was also upgraded to a 1-​bedroom suite which had a nice balcony, comfortable bed, pull out couch for the kid and two nice flat screen tvs with a kitchenette.
Free wifi for guests which was pretty fast as well! Free parking.
The hotel bar was nice, staff was friendly, food was good (had sliders sub fries). :) The area is nice, other guests at the hotel were friendly, and we will go down to the pool in the morning.

Decent rooms but not one of the better Holiday Inns I’ve stayed at. The service is hit or miss; something rude, sometimes friendly.
This hotel is next to one of my favorite San Diego breweries (Alesmith); check it out if you’re thirsty. You won’t regret it.
The breakfast is undoubtedly a big flustercuck; dirty and many items have run out. The staff do a decent job maintaining it but the weekend I was there, the hotel was incredibly busy (sold out).
The hotel is by a freeway but we weren’t bothered at all by it, though we were on a high floor.
