Henna San Diego

Tejal did a design on both of my hands for my wedding. I brought in a design that I wanted and she replicated it perfectly, adding her own creative touches. Her pricing is very reasonable as compared to what some of the salons charge. The henna stains beautifully, it’s dark and long-​lasting even on the top of my hands! She hid my husband’s name in the design as well, which is an Indian tradition. The groom is expected to search for his name or initials in the design! I will be updating this review with professional photos once I get them back from my wedding photographer.

I was given the task to book a henna artist last minute for my company event. I researched and discovered all the rave reviews about Tejal. She was able to make our last minute request and did henna for several hours accommodating the huge guest list we had.
Everyone was in awe of her work and it was the highlight for many of the evening. Guests ranging from late teens up to a 90 year old woman LOVED the henna that Tejal had done.
In addition to her talent, Tejal is extremely kind and wonderful to work with.
We will be booking Tejal for future events for sure. On a personal note, for any event I have coming up, I will do the same.

Super happy with our experience. Managed to fit me in with short notice. Karla was the artist for my daughters bday party. Karla was quick, kind and really good! I would definitely recommend, and wouldn’t hesitate to book them again.

Tejal has been doing my work. hands, feet and my belly when I was 20 weeks pregnant, for going on over two years. To anyone who has any question about her work or her personality. Both stellar.
She does my hands at least every six months. She’s easy to get in touch with and replays quick.
I’ve been to her home AND she’s been to my home., many times. She started coming to my house after my daughter was born bc it was hard to get out with a newborn. I appreciated that she did that.
She’s, from day one, been kind and very warm. We chat about everything while she’s doing her magic. I’ve never had a «reaction» to her work as she’ll tell you from the start she does not use black henna but rather the natural mix with lemon juice and essential oils. So if you’re looking for that she’s not your girl. (Black henna is pretty but can cause reactions due to the ingredients. See pic posted on here… A black henna reaction kinda looks like that.)
Tejel is just a pleasure to be around and I’ll keep going back as long as she’s providing the service.
Now go get it done with her. You’ll love it!

Tejal did an amazing job for my bridal henna. She took the 2 different designs I loved and merged them into something beautiful. She was kind, professional, and did well balancing all of my guests who wanted to take pictures and getting the job done. She made sure I was comfortable and would stop when I needed a break.
Her assistant was also amazing! She was fast and my family and friends loved her.
I recommend Tejal as she is professional, efficient, and talented!

Tejal did a beautiful job with my bridal henna! She was fast and incredibly talented. The henna turned out beautifully and has lasted for almost 3 weeks! She was not feeling well and could not come to do henna for my mehendi party the night before the wedding, but she found someone else who was also wonderful!
She used great quality henna and gave wonderful tips to help keep my henna dark and beautiful!

She was great and so fast with all the girls at the party! Great designs and long lasting. And no one had any reactions whatsoever. The girls loved it.

Please don’t go to this Henna artist. It was one of the worst experiences of my life!!! Not only does she lack kind social skills (which I didn’t care that much about, as long as she did her job right), she cause me several trips to URGENT CARE. After i got my henna done, I got a bad reaction to it. She said it never happened before. I have been doing henna since I was a little girl. This NEVER happened. I know this sounds gross (and it was), my henna turned into blisters!!! (I will post the pics) it was so painful and wasnt able to sleep. I had to tale steroids to calm it down. And after three weeks when the blisters calmed a little, I kept SCARS for months… It was HORRIBLE
Now here is the worst part… I know. More is coming… I contacted her to ask fo rmy money back. I paid a total of 40dlrs. It wasnt about the 40, but more about the fact that she took money from me after this horrible experience. She responded and said that she was only giving me back 20!!! That she needed to be paid for her time… R u kidding me??? I told her to keep the money because karma will get her for sure.
This woman is horrible. If you present money, she will be nice and friendly. Its fake. Don’t trust her. I have never written a negative review online in my life but I though this was necessary. I don’t want the same thing to happen to other people. There are other great and friendly henna artists out there. Thank you. Look for the pics with blistered henna

I had a Blessing Way 2^nd baby celebration over 2 years ago and she did such an amazing job!
I recently took my best friend to have her belly done and it turned out awesome as well. Highly recommend!

I had an awkward experience with this lady! She absolutely has no people skills! She was just on her phone! It was clear to us she didn’t even want to be at the party. She seemed so annoyed. She kept rolling her eyes at the guest and raising her eyebrows! Talk about ATTITUDE PROBLEM!
Never ever again! Go hire someone else for your party! I wish I could of had a good experience! She’s extremely short with people. Cutting people off and just brushing them off!
BTW, the hennas she did we’re extremely light and super crooked! Absolutely no time taken as she clearly did with the other I see on Unilocal.No attention to detail!

Tejal was awesome! I had her do my sister’s bridal shower of about 20 ladies and she was awesome. So nice and easy to work with in setting up the date/​time, she was on time and ready to go, and don’t even get me started on how gorgeous her work was! She is a true artist! Super sweet and easy going. She does amazing work and is sooooo quick! All the ladies loved her designs and thought it was such a great addition to the party. I know who to call if I want a henna artist in the future! Thank sou sooo much Tejal!!!

I LOVED my first Henna experience with Tejal! She was so patient, she started my design and midway my 1 year tripped and smudged my design, unfortunately we had to start from the beginning. She was understanding and did not get upset at all. She worked fast and my art came out AMAZING… Highly recommended !

Love love loved the henna that Tejal applied! I had gone once before to her and that was a great experience, but this last visit was better! I had two designs in mind for my hands and Tejal imitated them amazingly! It’s two days later and my stains are DARK! I kept the paste on for 20 hours, surprisingly, with a one year old. I’m definitely going to be a regular customer. If y’all want a great henna experience, Tejal is your woman.

SUPER AWKWARD EXPERIENCE with this woman. I called because I was interested and having henna tattooed eyebrows. Initially I got really excited because I reviewed the website and was super pumped because I found out this place is only 6 miles from my house. I emailed the woman who does the Henna and decided to call her shortly after I sent the email.
I don’t know if this woman is super new in business but when I called she was extremely short with me. When I started to talk and tell her about what I was interested in getting done, she cut me off and she told me to check my email. That was it. My boyfriend was sitting right next me and I was so shocked I said okay and I hung up the phone. I have never called a business and had them be so rude before.
In the future, I will sooner hire someone to do my anal bleaching that I will to have henna tattoos done by this business.

3 stars because I have mixed feelings for Tejal. At first I was very excited to find a Henna Artist in San Diego & her website pictures were amazing. Initially she was very responsive via emails but after the deposit, she wasn’t quick in responding and because of this, my initial consultation became a last minute thing. I had no time to go out of house for appointments. I did appreciated that she was willing to bring the design books on the day I had my bridal henna done.
I was in a rush to pick the design and get started with the Henna. Tejal doesn’t have the initial friendly and upbeat personality which didn’t help either. At first I did considered her to be a bit reserved as she hardly get on with the conversation. Even my mother-​in-​law came in and tried to start a conversation but she didn’t respond the first time. It felt she was just there to do the business & leave.
She did warm up later during the night which was nice. It was good to know her as a person. She did an excellent design on my hand. I wish I had more time to select the design for my feet. She makes her own henna & its good stuff. My henna continued to get darker even after 2 days of application.
She wasn’t able to secure a secondary henna artist for me for the following day. I requested this 2 months before. Her rate is slightly higher than the regular artist. But anyway, I still wanted to call her for the party I had the following day but my mother-​in-​law wasn’t impressed with her personality and the vote was to go without it. Tejal is a nice person once you get to know her but I wish she had a more welcoming & friendly personality which is necessary for a intimate & small family parties.
I am not sure if I will use her for future family events at my place. I really like to get to know the people who come to my house. I also like to work with individuals who are good at what they do but it is very important for me to work with someone who are easy to talk to and feel like you know them even if you just met. However, her work is good & professional.

Tejal at Henna San Diego is an artist extraordinaire! She was the HIT of the party we threw! I only thought I’d need her for 2 hours but I could have used her for 4!!! I had about 43 people and thought maybe only 15 people (women) would go for the tattoos but every time I looked up, men were lining up too! After people would show off their hands or legs or arms, more people would try and jump into the chair! She gave us care instructions (easy) and my tattoo is even more beautiful 2 days later! She is adorable, super talented and SO fast she managed to do almost 40 people in 2 hrs!!! I am now trying to INVENT reasons for more parties just to hire her again! She was amazing!!! One girl even thought about going and having a real tattoo done over it just to keep it forever!!! Tejal, you rock!!!

Tejal made me beautiful for my Indian-​fusion wedding! She did my hair and makeup for both the sangeet and the Sikh ceremony, and did my bridal henna, which I miss more than I should probably admit. She also applied henna designs to all the women (and a couple curious guys) at the sangeet. I live in the bay area and was planning a San Diego wedding, so she was very flexible about meeting with me when I was in town for picking the henna designs and the hair/​makeup trial.

Tejal at Henna San Diego was wonderful to work with. I contacted Tejal via email and her response time was quick and informative. She arrived on time and everything was exactly as promised via our emails and agreement. I had Tejal come to my house for my daughters 11^th birthday party, she was with us for 2 hours and did a number of beautiful henna designs for 12 girls and a couple of adults. She was able to do simple designs for the younger children who preferred drawings from her book and for the older children and adults she did stunning traditional designs. Many of the party guests had specific pictures from online and Tejal did an amazing job of recreating all of them. She is quite a talented artist and everyone loved their henna designs.
I can’t wait for another opportunity to have Tejal do henna art for us again!

I contacted Henna San Diego for a recent event that I was hosting. Tejal listened to my thoughts and made recommendations so that all of my attendees would be able to have Henna at the event. She was courteous, professional, kind, and the best part was that her services were reasonably priced. The staff were amazing artists and the henna was a huge hit with the guests! I would highly recommend Henna San Diego!!!

After reading through all the great reviews, I reached out to Tejal through her website to have henna done for an upcoming family wedding. She responded quickly and I made an appointment to visit her home in Rancho Penasquitos. She later emailed me to change the time saying that an earlier appointment might run late, which was totally fine.
When I arrived at Tejal’s home, I didn’t find her to be friendly or welcoming. She showed me a book of henna designs to choose from, but I wasn’t able to find anything that I liked. I referenced a few photos on her website but she was unwilling to replicate those designs and said that she couldn’t remember how those were done.
I indicated that I wanted the henna up to the mid-​forearm region. She quickly applied the henna down to my palm and started cleaning up. Uh ok. After all the back and forth about the design, she ended up deviating way too much from what I chose. In addition she applied the henna in such thick lines that it did not come out well.
It was clear that she was in a rush and had somewhere else to be (her friend was even waiting for her outside as I left), which I find odd given that she changed the appt time to meet her schedule. Furthermore, she gave me no after care instructions.
Unfortunately Henna San Diego is pretty much the only game in town. Maybe they only pull out all the stops for bridal henna or large groups. In the future, and for my own bridal henna, I would hire a henna artist from LA.
