Halstrom Academy

I have been in education for the past 7 years. Halstrom Academy is one of the best 1 on 1 educational programs I have seen. I have taught in private, charter, and district based schools and nothing compares to having 1 teacher to 1 student. Especially when trying to get the academic content across. Most of the time, in a traditional school setting; teachers do not use time efficiently because their focus is on classroom management. As a result, students do not get to learn the entire content and/​or lack the necessary skills to become successful in college.
At Halstrom Academy: teachers, parents, and students create pacing frame for all students to stay on track and not fall behind. Their primary focus is to send all students to college and to prepare them for the future. Daily communication with parents on student progress is delivered via automated emails. At the end of each day, teachers are required to let parents know how their son/​daughter did throughout the day. Teachers are also required to update grades everyday, which is another advantage for parents and students. As soon as students falls below average– parents, students, and teachers come up with an action plan to re-​mediate make-​up work and raise their grade.
Halstrom Academy is a pioneer on Inter-​Disciplinary based projects as well as technology oriented curriculum. Most books are used through Ipad’s and computers.
The instructors are highly qualified to teach ELL, SPED, mainstream, and AP Courses. Every class is modified and adapted to every student’s individual needs and academic rigor.
I worked at Halstrom Academy for 5 years as an AP Course and ELD/​ESL instructor and I could say that I was able to teach the curriculum more in-​depth and have greater class discussion on a 1-​to-​1 than having to teach 35 students at the same time.
Like every program there are pros and cons. At a traditional school you may get many athletic programs and lots of class collaboration but you miss a lot of the academic curriculum and many times teachers don’t dedicate enough time to help students reach their goals.
The staff at Halstrom understands that students need to socialize in a healthy and safe environment and have made the effort to continually have students interact via Field trips, charity events, and other social gatherings.
If you are looking for a private school for your child that focuses on academics, personal growth, and builds on study/​character skills, Halstrom Academy is the right fit. I highly recommend this school for any struggling child.
