Solid place to get your taxes done.
I came here a few days before taxes were due. I have always done my taxes online on my own, but this is the first year I’ve owed so much (stock earnings & gaming winnings made taxes more complicated). I came here to have an expert take another look at my tax return.
I didn’t make an appointment. I was a walk-​in, and one of the reps here gave me their time to look over my return. Robin was excellent and thorough. She explained everything as we went through my return.
PROPS: An excellent interaction with a knowledgeable member of their staff.
SLOPS: I was talked out of putting my return on my credit card, to save the cost associated with going credit over direct debit. I wish I put it on my card to earn airline miles. Next time for sure!

Worst service ever! It happened two years in a row. The first time I chose to give them a second chance. My taxes are due already and they have not been filed. A person is supposed to be reviewing them but still have not been able to contact that person. It is impossible to contact anyone, they keep sending me from one office to the other. Noeone is taking responsibility for the fact that my taxes have not been filed yet but the deadline already happened.

I scheduled an appointment for 1:00 PM. I received an email and a phone call shortly after confirming my appointment. Arrived on time and waited for an hour before I gave up and left. I wish I could comment on the services they provide, but I never got to experience that. 1 star for wasting an hour of my day.

I was in a major tax jam and Carrie Camus was extremely helpful and genuinely caring about my situation. Although I did pay a good chunk of money, it was well worth it and have piece of mind. The office is in a great Hillcrest area. The office is nice and clean with great helpful staff. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and offered freshly brewed coffee or water. I am so happy with Carrie, I have already set my appointment for next year.

Our positive experience started with the receptionist, Michelle, who was so friendly, professional and accomodating on the phone. We requested to meet with Adrienne as we had met her at a tax info session at The Center a while back. She seemed to be the most knowledgable person there, and that includes the IRS agents!
Adrienne recommended an hour appointment during which time she’d gather info, but turned out she was able to complete and file our taxes in less than hour. Great customer service! I’d go so far as to say it was an enjoyable experience.

No stars for this place worst experience ever came in as a walk in had to set an appointment came back for appointment and after 30min after my appointment i still wasn’t seen! Take ur taxes else where! Saves u the damn head ache. There were agents who weren’t even busy!

I’d give 5 stars if it was not the fact that this was for taxes. Our Tax Advisor Russ was extremely knowledegable especially when it came to figuring out all of our difficult situations that were compounded by our RDP status! This office is super friendly, and very LGBT aware. This is the only place I would go for getting my taxes done in a welcoming and positive environment.

I have used H&R Block for my tax filings for the past 6 years. I initially used their online tax software, but in recent years have gone into the local Hillcrest office to handle my wife’s and my returns.
Adrienne in the Hillcrest office is great! She knows her stuff and turns the drudgery of filing into an actually enjoyable experience – I usually have a completed return filed within an hour to an hour and half after sitting down with her, and have 100% confidence that I am prepared for an audit of the results if one should come my way.
Also, for the past two years, my eFiles for Federal and State have been accepted within 24 hours, and my refunds have been received (via direct deposit) within 2 weeks of filing. While I know that H&R Block and Adrienne are not responsible for that aspect, it certainly has helped in making the overall experience of dealing with my tax returns a positive one.
There may be other tax folks out there that charge (slightly) less to assist with your filings, but for my money, the experience of dealing with knowledgeable professionals like Adrienne, and the peace of mind that comes from the backing of the largest tax preparation organization in the US (even if Ken Jennings says otherwise*) is well worth it.

I’ve never had an issue with H&R Block, and I’ve been to several of the local offices over the years (downtown, North Park and Hillcrest). This company really does go the extra mile to get you the most bang for your buck (and the most bucks back).
Adrienne, the consultant, was really fantastic. She helped me track down missing information online, gave me great advice and helped me get a lot more back than I expected… and a lot faster, too!
No one likes having to deal with tax season, but H&R Block and Adrienne made this year a lot easier. I’ll definitely be back next year!

Russ was awesome! Helped answer my 1099 questions and complete all the forms, copies, in envelops already, ready to be mailed out! Very thorough, very professional, very knowledgeable. Great experience and will let everyone that asks me about taxes to call Russ! Thanks for your fast attention to my last minute task.

Adrienne was very helpful she made me feel very comfortable. I walked in and didnt have to wait at all even without a appointment. I even went back with my taxes from last year and she went over them and looked for mistakes. The enviroment was very clean and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Waited almost 20 minutes for my appointment. My «advisor» finally waved me in without any apology for the wait, just a mouth full of food and a sloppy handshake. Gross. When I get to his desk, it’s already 20 minutes after my appointment, he tells me «I just have to make a few phone calls first, then I’ll be right with you.» While I’m there staring at him he starts making call backs to other clients. Half way through his first of two calls, I gathered my paperwork and walked out. Don’t have me wait 20 minutes after my appointment, don’t wave me back if you’re not ready to see me, and don’t lick your figures then shake my hand. What a waste of time.

This is the second year I worked with H&R Block. In the past I had done taxes on my own, but given the specific complexity I was facing, I wanted to include a professional.
I worked with Russ Emmons who was nothing short of phenomenal. He navigated everything with ease and I have total confidence that he maximized my returns.

I went in today thinking i owed about $ 500, Adrienne Alexander saved me that much and helped me with all the question i had, i love H&R Block!!! Thank you, Ms. Adrienne!

Adrienne is a very friendly, pleasant person! She’s quite knowledgeable, and I trust her to do an excellent job preparing my taxes.

Doing taxes is a pleasure with Russ. I’ve recommended him to friends and we all really enjoy our appointments with him. We look forward to more. He goes above and beyond our expectations and I no longer have to worry about tax season. Thank you Russ!
