Another great San Diego Brewery. They have a great selection of beers from which to choose. The space is large so there is plenty of room. There is also an outdoor dog friendly space as well.
If you have not had their beers, they are usually high quality and tasty. The IPAs are especially good.
The only downside to this place is the location. It is just bit far from downtown to go here more often.

The beer selection here is very good and I have no complaints about the food. I’ve been here multiple times and the food has always been very delicious. The only bad thing is that sometimes it can be really hard to find parking either in the parking lot on the street or in the back. But this place is definitely one of the best breweries in the Mira Mesa area.

–FIRST IMPRESSIONS
They stamp your hand when you first walk to make sure you are of age. You then enter into a huge space where people are hanging out or waiting in line to order. Against the wall behind the bartenders are a huge menu of all the beers they have available. You can get the drinks in 3 sizes, taster ($ 1.25), half pour ($ 2.25) and full pour ($ 4.50). If you want a large variety, I suggest doing the tasters as the pourings are quite generous! The line was quick and bar was well staffed.
–THE FOOD, DRINK & SETTING
There is no food on-​site but they have a food truck outside.
We got about a dozen and half of drinks — they were all good, so you really can’t go wrong.
There is an outdoor seating area with large picnic tables, however, if you have a large party of 6 – 8 — it may be difficult for you to find a table to yourself. There were also outdoor heaters that kept us warm on a particularly cold day.
–WILL I COME BACK?
Yes, great beer at a great price. I would come back for the tour as well.

Finally had a chance to visit Green Flash in Mira Mesa on Saturday night. To start with, Great place. Full of atmosphere, great patio area outside to enjoy your beer. They even thought ahead and installed gas lines to their outdoor heaters instead of propane tanks.
The beer: Yes! lots of good beer to sample. Both Alpine and Green Flash. Favorite of the night Dia De Los Seranos. Nice kick to a black ale. Notes of coffee. Other beers we enjoyed sampling: Le Freak, Hoppy Birthday, Nelson, Singled Out and Hop Boxed.
Only downer of the evening was the rather portly lady serving beer to us was not pleasant. I don’t know why she was working behind the bar if she didn’t want to be at work. She was surly and not very helpful when asked about the beers. Because of the attitude she had, my friend is not willing to come back to Green Flash brewery. Pity. It is a nice place.

This is one of my favorite breweries! I always come here to hang out with friends and coworkers!

Awesome place. This was my first time here and I envisioned it to be a lot smaller for some reason. It was very spacious! We had just missed a tour, but we’ve been on plenty of others, and I was on s mission to just enjoy my beer. Speaking of the beer. great selection! I counted almost 30 on tap? Both Green Flash and Alpine. There were two rare beers and a cask beer on draft as well. I tasted quite a few and bought a few bottles to go. The outdoor area was fun. Picnic tables and hanging lights; great place to hang out with friends. Green flash also has they own food truck. We ordered the special, pastrami season chicken skewers and the shrimp roll. Very flavorful and great prices! I especially loved the accompanying pickled veggies, seriously, sooooo good. Friendly service and a fun time. Can’t wait to return!

It was my second time there. Beer was great as always! However, there were two things you should consider before visiting: 1). the only place you can sit down is outside. On Saturdays, they close at 9, and they start cleaning the patio at 8:30pm, therefore, the only place you can hang out is inside the brewery. No seats, no tables. 2). the food truck people were not friendly. They shut down at 8:30, but refuse to take orders starting from 8:20-ish.
5 stars for the beer, 2 stars for the overall experience.

Upon first impression, it didn’t seem like your typical brewery from the outside. The building is more like a modern style that you’d expect to be owned by a large tech company. We were greeted with kindness at the front door as we were carded.
Inside it felt like more of a bar inside a warehouse. They had all of the brewery tour in the background with the tasting room being the main focus. It’s expected to say that this place smells like yeast to no surprise.
The beer was fantastic and very inexpensive. Tasters at 1.25 a pop. We got 12 and each brew was it’s own unique beer. I like the passion fruit one the best. There’s also a gift shop in the building and free shuttles. This would be better if there was food but either way it would be somewhere I’d definitely return to.

Super chill, relaxing spot with cheap tasters ($ 1.25) and pints (~$ 5). Green Flash is a SD staple and while their buyout of Alpine will always remain questionable, they are one of the originals breweries to have put SD on the map. You can get your classic Green Flash brews here and some Alpine ones as well, but don’t expect to find the specialty releases from them here. You need to go to Alpine for those.
They are dog and kid friendly although if you’re going to bring your kid, make sure they are well-​behaved and not causing a ruckus. Oops, maybe I meant your dog as well. Maybe not.
Expect a food truck to be here all the time since Green Flash appears to operate their own now. Brewery tours are for a small fee and are offered throughout the day as well. Large and spacious brewery and a popular after-​work destination. I’ve been here too many times to count and all the co-​works rave about Green Flash like they are king, but really most find the cheap beer the most appealing.
Green Flash is a great gateway into the craft beer world especially when you’re on a budget. They are always everyone’s favorite brewery until they enter the dark side of craft beer and become snobs.

Nice place but not enough seating to enjoy the beers. Small your but that’s ok as its a small brewery. But they have this gigantic standing only area near the bar so if you want to stand around and drink you can do that. There is outdoor seating on small patio but it fills up fast.
Besides the beer the gift shop had some nice stuff including flannel shirts with logo. Also dog treats made with beer leftovers. Good for Fido and won’t get him drunk.
Love the flash beer but don’t think it’s worth coming to the brewery with so many other ones to visit with more ambience.

Not a fan of the brews, but a $ 5 tour that includes 4 tasters (equaling about 1 pint) is pretty good. Staff is friendly and our guide was knowledgeable.
Of the four we tried, I only liked the passion fruit kicker (I like wheat beers), but the boyfriend was a big fan of the West Coast IPA.
A nice spot to chill right after work with some food truck-​style bar food. They get pretty busy!

One of the most fun breweries in Mira Mesa! And that’s saying something considering the amount there are. I have been hearing about Green Flash for years and had only gotten around to checking out for the first time recently. It is huge! Such a fun place to just relax with some friends and good beers. I discovered one of my new favorite beers there– the passion fruit kicker. It’s a bit sweet for some, but I love the flavor and the smoothness, and I’m not a big fan of hops at all so it was a great choice. Another standout choice was the Cosmic Ristretto, which was a porter that included espresso, if you’re into the dark stuff. I mean beers, of course.
They also have a food truck! The food truck serves snacky things like fries and olives, but also more substantial stuff like burgers and pastas. I tried the macaroni and cheese and the burger — both delicious! My friends got a fried chicken skin sandwich– interesting and also delicious.
Green flash offers tours and a free shuttle to their other location in Poway, which would be fun to take advantage of. In the meantime, the Mira Mesa location is just fine. Prices are incredibly reasonable, and I haven’t tried something I don’t like. Really there’s something for everyone!

The beer selection here was very impressive. If I hadn’t been the driver there would have been about 10 beers I would have tried. There were plenty of typical beers for people that want something standard, but also tons of fun combinations featuring fruity flavors for people like me. I ended up going with Beach House Ale (orange and ginger notes) and really enjoyed it. My brother had one beer from Green Flash and one by Alpine. He enjoyed both.
The building has a nice sized lot in the back so parking was a breeze. Inside the tasting room is a large open space. There isn’t much in the way of décor and zero seating. This is standing room only with two counters for those that want to rest their drinks somewhere. Part of the room is open to the bottling area for those that want a behind the scenes glimpse. There is a shop off of the tasting room for those looking for fun merchandise.
I would recommend coming here for the beer since the selection was large and the taste was great. If you are looking for a casual spot with seating to spend several hours then I would recommend Duck Foot or Alesmith.

I’ve never been a huge fan of beer, and I’ve gone to Green Flash twice this month, so that definitely says something!
I went on the 60 minute brewery tour last Saturday. It’s $ 5 a person, and you get four tasters. I can’t remember the other 3 we got, but West Coast IPA was the first one since it’s what Green Flash is known for (be prepared to taste the bitterness!). Julia was my tour guide, and Nikki accompanied her. Both of them were very friendly and knowledgeable! I had no idea brewing beer was such a complicated procedure. It was interesting to learn about the fermentation process, and my inner nerd definitely came out.
They have about 30 flavors (for beer noobs like me, the Passion Fruit Kicker is a good start!), a gift shop, and occasionally, a food truck outside. The brewery is a little on the smaller side, but it’s cozy and comfortable. The outside area has artificial grass, wooden tables and chairs with cute lights hanging. In sum, this brewery is super chill. Ballast Point is awesome, but the vibe at Green Flash is so laid back. No one comes dressed up or anything. Plus, everyone brings their DOGS!!! If you’re away from home and miss your dogs like I miss mine, come here. Hold your beer in one hand, pet someone’s dog with the other (:

How can anyone not like a place that makes good beer?!
I’ve been to Green Flash twice. This establishment to be easily worthy of it’s 5 stars. The first visit, they were closing in 10 minutes! This was quite a shock! I had been looking forward to going over for a few beers. I quickly recovered my senses though and picked up a growler of their Trepple Spiced Ale. As I remember, it was 9.3% and tasted like a spiced ale. I also slept very well that night.
The second visit was a couple days later to re-​fill my growler with 8.8% double stout black ale. The second visit allowed me to look things over. An oversized room with a bar dedicated to filling growlers; another bar for tasting; an island in the center of the room for patrons to stand at as they enjoy their brews and a gift shop where you could buy anything imaginable that was related to Green Flash Beer.
I was impressed that they have a bar dedicated to growler refills. These guys are serious about their beer! Breweries in Sonoma County require one to go to the bar and beg the bartender who hates filling them because he has other things to do. The Green Flash dude filled my growler to the top! No air. «It stays fresher that way!», he said. «I get more!», I thought.
Before I had my growler filled, I asked him about the stout. He gave me a generous sample and explained how it was made.
I asked him, «Where do you get your water?» «Colorado River», he said, «but we process the water to add minerals so that the water is balanced for brewing.» I appreciated that detail. If one makes bread, beer or kimche– the end product will be very much influenced by the composition of the water; especially if there is fermentation as part of the process.
As I was about to go I saw a sign indicating 50% off on a growler re-​fills for a pale ale. I asked him about it. «Nothing wrong with the beer. We just have an abundance of it because we over-​produced. The owner is thinking of having a different 50% off growler refill each week.»
I will return next week and re-​fill my growler with «50% off»!

Beers:
AMAZING IPA’S! Even though I’m more of a Stout’s kinda gal myself, I definitely appreciate Green Flash’s quality IPA’s. Their Serrano Chili Double Stout and Bad Boy IPA are some of my personal favorites. In addition to their lovely outdoor patio area with grass, long tables, seating, and a food truck, they offer brewery tours!
Brewery Tour:
The tour takes roughly an hour and offers 4 free taster beers throughout. They guide you throughout the process of brewing beer as they walk you through the brewery and answer any questions you may have. You’ll need to check online for times, but it definitely taught me more about beer than Wikipedia could have.
Prices:
The prices at Green Flash are also outstanding. They offer the taster size ($ 1.25), half pour size ($ 2.25), and full size pour. The taster size is roughly ¹⁄₃ of the glass and is EXTREMELY WORTHWHILE!
Atmosphere:
The outdoor seating area is lined with lights and is a great place to grab a drink while catching up with large groups of friends. Their tater tots ($ 3) are also delicious in case you’re tempted by the aromas of the food truck. They offer burgers oozing with mac n cheese if you’re feeling extra hungry.
Overall, Green Flash is amazing and friendly! A gem of San Diego

If you love IPA’s, you will love Green Flash! Out of all the breweries I have been to in San Diego so far, Green Flash Brewing Co. has to be one of my favorites. I love the open area, outdoor seating, plenty of places to hold your drinks, and friendly bartenders! Of course, they have one of the best kinds of IPA’s in my opinion.
If you’re hungry they have an outdoor food truck too. I didn’t have the opportunity to try the food but it did smell good. They also have a vending machine where they sell chips and whatnot. They managed to lure me in after a few beers and I wanted something to munch on lol. I ended up getting a bag of their jalapeño Kettle Chips for $ 1.25. Rip off.
They have 4 oz. tasters for only $ 1.25! So cheap. You also have the option of trying half or full pints. I like the variety because it lets you to try so many of their beers and they have A LOT on tap. I was feeling adventurous and got their serrano chili stout… I highly don’t recommend it. It wasn’t that spicy but it had a weird taste. What I did like was their West Coast IPA, Le Freak, Symposium, and they also had some holiday beers. All delicious!
Dog friendly as well!
