Highly recommend Dr McGann and his helpful staff. First off, I have anxiety when it comes to dental work based on some bad experiences in the past. This surroundings and staff helped make me feel at ease, and Dr McGann’s knowledge and expertise does the same.
I went here over a year ago with some wisdom tooth pain that was causing me issues, but my insurance at the time wouldn’t cover what I needed done. A year later, the wisdom tooth was acting up again, so this time with better insurance in hand, I went back here and wasn’t disappointed. They took care of my consultation, second scan, insurance details, and surgery in less than 2 hours, and I had only just called them that day. Surgery was only 45 min tops, and that was due to me being high risk for permanent nerve damage because of where my tooth was placed.
Long story short, they did a great job, I feel so much better now that my tooth is out (I actually had two total removed on one side), and the recovery process seems to be way better than some of the horror stories I have heard out there. Highly recommend the expertise here if you have anything they can help you out with.

I got 3 of my wisdom teeth taken out last month, I went in and after the intial x-​ray they noticed my bottom left tooth was wrapped around my nerve so they did another x-​ray to verify and in fact it was wrapped. If it wasn’t for their careful observation I would’ve been left with permanent damage to my bottom lip. The staff were so incredible and patient with me. The process was so quick! I had my consultation and was ready to go! The procedure went perfectly from what I was told and they sent me home with a really nice heated blanket, chapstick (which i’m still using lol) and a nice ice pack, a syringe for cleaning, extra gauze and detailed instructions on cleaning etc. all of this was soo incredibly genuine and impressed me on a whole other level. Dr. McGann called me personally later that day to make sure everything was okay. ON TOP OF ALL OF THIS I got a thank you later a couple days later with a froyo giftcard! I was astounded. Like who does this??? I cannot get over how amazed and impressed I am with this business. I will continue to recommend Dr. McGann’s office to all of my friends!

I have the misfortune of having to go through the dental implant process thanks to a little bump and a glass bottle, an accident that happened 10+ years ago. My initial root canal has failed and now here we are.
So anyone having to go though with a dental implant procedure probably knows by now, it is ‘A Process’. My issue deals with a front tooth so after totally freaking out I decided to get busy and find the right thing to do. After speaking with my dentist, Dr. McGann, and (it felt like) every ‘teeth’ doctor in town. I decided to also fix my crossbite with Invisalign before the implant. So the process for me is a long one, I will start with an extraction/​bone graft, then do Invisalign for about 1 ½ years, then do the dental implant, which will take several months.
After meeting with several great doctors in San Diego and I decided to go with Dr. McGann for the extraction and dental implant of my front tooth. First of all, he was recommended by a friend who had had wisdom teeth removed my Dr. McGann and claimed everything went as well as could be expected and highly recommended going here. I also liked what I read online about Dr. McGann, he was well reviewed and highly rated. Another reason I choose going here was in doing my research for this and Invisalign several of the dentists and orthodontists I spoke with knew Dr. McGann and spoke well of him.
I know 99% of people hate the dentist and oral surgeries, and I’m right there with you leading the pack. I was/​am totally traumatized by the fact I was going to have to have all this work done to my mouth, but Monday, I was in for my follow up appointment for my extraction /​bone graft and to have the dental membrane removed. So far everything is turning out very well. I did choose general anesthesia, so I was sleep for the extraction and my follow up was a pretty quick one, I still have a long road ahead but I wanted to get this out there for people looking for help with their dental implant because it can be a scary thing and if this helps one person then its worth it.
Thus far, Dr. McGann and his team have made this out to be a lot less scary and crazy than I initially thought it would be, and for that I’m thankful. Also, I want to mention for people not covered by insurance, I’m not either and will be paying cash for this procedure. They have been very straightforward with helping me with their pricing and have laid out my health wellness plan for the next two years. They did not charge me any type of deposit for the implant and they say they will charge the same rate (which to me was a good deal) even though my implant will be almost 2 years down the road.
I can’t stress enough please research your doctors, no matter who you choose for this process. There were some doctors I would not recommended and some I found did like. I do know from what I’ve seen Mr. McGann is a good one and I would highly recommended him to this point and I will be sure to check back in when the entire process is complete, to finish this review…

My wisdom teeth FINALLY decided to come in the moment I turned 24 this year. You can imagine how unhappy I was once I realized this… I went through six years of braces to get a nice/​decent smile and my stupid wisdom teeth thought it’d be a great time to come and undo all of that painstaking work. :’(
I scheduled an appointment to get a consultation done earlier this month and things were great. The office can be annoying to get to as it tends to have high traffic due to being RIGHT next to a Sharp Rees, but at least you know that if something terribly goes wrong while you’re at Dr. McGann’s you have a hospital right next door! Ayyyy.
In addition to being clean and immaculate, the front desk was always super friendly and helpful! During my consultation I handed in the forms that I had been asked to fill out. Since I hadn’t submitted it online, they hadn’t been able to check whether or not my insurance covered everything, but I would find out by the end of appointment. They were VERY upfront about the cost if my insurance didn’t cover the consultation (~$ 80) and I was ecstatic that they were clear about the cost before we went any further. Other places would have just told me at the end, after all was said and done. So far so good!
The consultation was quick & easy. Dr. McGann has state of the art technology and when we sat down together to discuss my teeth, he was incredibly thorough and went through EVERYTHING. He talked about the procedure, how long it would take, what I needed to do after the removal, what foods I could and could not eat, a general estimation of the recovery time, and of course THE RISKS!!! As I was removing my two bottom teeth, he noted that the left one was very close to my nerves and that there was the possibility of nerve damage. Of course I had read about all of this online and knew the risks that came with removing my wisdom teeth, but I’m very happy that he had explained the scenarios to me and made sure that I understood everything. After that, he wrote up a prescription for me and gave me print outs of directions to do pre-​surgery and post-​surgery. Nice!
I then went back to the front where they told me that my insurance DID NOT cover the procedure as Dr. McGann wasn’t in the supported list of dentists/​surgeons they would cover… :(They said they understood if I wanted to go elsewhere, but they gave me different things that I could do (payment plan, etc) and gave me a cost break-​down of what it would be if I had local vs. general anesthesia, how much each tooth was, etc etc. They weren’t pushy at all — surprising, as a lot of other places have no qualms peer pressuring their customers. In the end I told them I would think about it and give them a call.
Tbh, I didn’t really have to think about it that long. Before I found him, I had already taken a look at the list of dentists supported by my insurance and I was not impressed (read: bad reviews/​experiences). If I’m going to get three teeth taken out (with one that is STILL in the bone), I’m going to make sure I get it done by the right person. I called the office back and we set up a date!
Yesterday was the day and things went well! My bf stayed in the front during my surgery (they ask this to make sure you have a ride home lol) and he said it went pretty quickly. The most painful part was them inserting the IV, but I was never really great with needles to begin with. I think they had asked maybe 1 – 2 questions before I was out like a light LOL. Next thing I know, I’m being guided out of the chair and to my bf. For some reason I was super emotional afterwards (I started crying for no reason which was really confusing during, but hilarious on video), but they explained that this was a normal reaction for people to have from the anesthesia. They let me keep the blanket they had given me before surgery to keep warm and then gave a bag to my bf to take home.
In the bag they gave us: a syringe to clean out the bottom sockets, lots of extra gauze, an ice pack, chapstick, and extensive instructions with a FAQs section. I read on here that a lot of people got a gift card/​coupon to Golden Spoon after their surgery, but that wasn’t there… :(:(:(
It’s been a day since my surgery and things are going well. The left side of my mouth was numb for MUCH longer than the rest of my face, so I was scared I had gotten some nerve bruising or damage, but everything is functioning well now! I’ve stuck to the instructions Dr. McGann provided (using salt + warm water to cleanse the sockets, taking medication as directed) and so far everything is great. There’s some soreness, my mouth can’t open very wide, and apparently Day 3 is supposed to be the worst in terms of pain, but that’s nothing some Ibuprofen and Vicodin can’t take care of.
Overall an awesome experience and I would definitely recommend Dr. McGann to anyone else that is getting their wisdom teeth removed. It was quick, easy, and painless.

I met with a few oral surgeons before deciding to stay with Dr. McGann’s office. His team and Dr. McGann himself are very thorough and considerate. In June, I had 3 wisdom teeth removed as the first phase of my dental case. We also discussed a plan to prepare for TMJ surgery after braces.
The wisdom teeth extractions were quick and painless. I was quite nervous before the day of the appointment but many friends reassured me that the technique and technology has evolved where doctors who stay current, make it easy on the patient. In this case, I arrived, was promptly seated, under anesthesia very quickly and did not realize we were done within a blink — no exaggeration! I walked out happy and the recovery was exactly as they explained to me before the procedure.
I am looking forward to visiting Dr McGann soon to give him the progress of my braces aligning my teeth in preparation for surgery.

When you have two wisdom teeth removed and don’t even need to take Advil the next day, I’m pretty sure that says it all. I chose Dr. McGann based on good Unilocal reviews and I’m glad to say they are all accurate and then some. The office is lovely, everyone I dealt with at reception, billing and the consultation were lovely, and being knocked out for 20 minutes and waking up not remembering anything about my surgery and barely feeling any pain was spectacularly lovely. I will be shouting his name from the rooftops to anyone I know who needs oral surgery.

I don’t normally leave review but I thought I’d contribute to mentioning how great Dr. McGann and staff were. I called the office to see if they could see me and I was fit into the busy schedule the very next day. The office is clean and modern located right next to Sharp and the freeway. The staff was very welcoming and answered every question with a positive attitude. Last but not least, Dr. McGann’s service and expertise was top notch! He explained everything thoroughly and was very assuring throughout the entire process. Needless to say I felt very comfortable from the time I walked in to the office until the time I left. I even got a follow up call a few hours later from Dr. McGann checking in to see how I was doing.

Dr. McGann is truly the best at what he does. The staff were all friendly and professional. The environment was clean and quiet. I had two of my bottom wisdom teeth and one molar extracted. Everything was a breeze. I remained awake throughout the procedure and felt no pain. I was very comfortable and relaxed. Patient teaching on what to expect before, during, and after was on point. Glad to have chosen Dr. McGann. Thank you!

Dr. McGann and his team here are deserving of my very first help review just because the work they do here is amazing. I was definitely a little bit nervous and scared about going through the surgery to remove my bottom wisdom teeth, but Dr. Mcgann and his staff were very patient and helpful in informing me about every little detail of the process. They made sure that I was comfortable by continuously offering me their knowledge and making sure that I was okay. The procedure lasted no longer than 20 minutes and they even offered me earphones so I could listen to music during the procedure. I also received a call from Dr. Mcgann after work hours to check if I was doing alright. One thing for sure is that they really care about all their patients which is always great to see. The work they do here surpassed my expectations and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who needs to get their wisdom teeth removed.

Okay this review is long overdue .I had my 4 wisdom teeth extracted 6 months ago. it was a smooth and pleasant experience. After a week i was able to eat normally. I think the price was reasonable (1087 $ for 4 teeth). The CT scan costed me 360 $ which my insurance did not cover. I would recommend Dr McGann.

Initially I was gonna give them a 4, but they really do an amazing job here. I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled and after a few weeks I was back up to normal activities. The checking in with how I was doing made me bump up from a 4 to 5. Thanks again.

I had 4 wisdom teeth removed a week ago by Dr. McGann and it could not have gone better. I literally went on a hike and ate a hotdog the day after the surgery.
Everyone in the office is so friendly and helpful. I had to rush my appointment and the staff was able to fit me in immediately. I did the initial consultation, x-​ray and surgery in the same day. Total time there was just over an hour. A few hours after I left the office, Dr. McGann called to make sure everything was going smoothly. I had minor swelling the day of the surgery that was completely gone the following day and very little pain. A week later just when I thought the experience couldn’t get any better, I receive a ‘thank you’ card in the mail with an ice cream gift card from Dr. McGann and staff. These people are phenomenal.

I had my wisdom teeth taken out recently and was absolutely terrified of being put under. I’m sure my anxiety was apparent but they did their best to calm me and after what seemed like 10 min, I was awake with little ice packs to keep against my cheeks to keep, my wisdom teeth in a bag, and allowed to sit in the chair until I could walk better than a baby giraffe. I received a call when I got home to make sure I was doing alright and a thank you card with a gift card about 2 weeks later for coming in! I think I should have sent the gift card but I guess a great Unilocal recommendation wouldn’t hurt! I really recommend this place to anyone and am very impressed and pleased with how things went

Got all 4 wisdom teeth removed on Monday and it was a breeze. Little to no swelling and healing very nicely. Would recommend this oral surgeon to anyone that is looking to get their wisdom teeth removed. Staff was friendly as well.

Had my 3^rd molars (aka wisdom teeth) taken out today…
I was really terrified at first as this was the first time going under anesthesia for me. The staff & Dr. assured me that everything was going to be fine, and then I woke up! It was that fast! I was literally in & out in an hour.
In short, I would definitely recommend this awesome team to anyone!

While I hope I won’t need any more teeth pulled, if I do there’s no question I would go back to Dr. McGann. He’s pulled four teeth for me on two different occasions. Everyone from the receptionist to the assistant to Dr. McGann are extremely thorough, attentive and kind.
I have had a slew of various dental procedures, some of which were very traumatizing, and his whole team was understanding and reassuring that the were going to do everything to help lessen my anxiety. Much thanks Dr. McGann!

Thank god I finally found Dr. McGann to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed! I went through several terrible unclean facilities, with below state-​of-​the-​art equipment and rude, uninterested, or uneducated staff.
Dr. McGann is thorough but concise, straightforward, quick and very kind. He even checked in with me himself by phone, a few hours after my surgery. His staff was magnificent! Great, intelligent, fun and sweet people. It’s a genuine place and they also have top notch equipment and a supremely clean facility. I will now consider no other dentist office.
The procedure took only 20 minutes and I was out of there within an hour. It also cost LESS (I paid out-​of-​pocket, no insurance) than what the previous crappy offices were going to charge me!
It’s still day one and the numbness is finally wearing off, but with my great pain medicine schedule — I have no pain yet. No swelling yet. And no drowsiness or bleeding. He did a perfect job, truly. So so happy and relieved! Go to Dr. McGann. He’s the best, bar none.

I was here a few days ago with my husband who needed a tooth extraction after several days of enduring pain. Our regular dentist couldn’t perform the procedure as she was out of town for a week but recommended Dr. McGann. He was able to see him on short notice which we both appreciated.
At the dental office, the waiting area as well as the patient rooms is very modern, clean, and inviting. The staff is very professional and personable. If you’re a veteran, you’ll have much conversation with their Surgical Tech/​Dental Assistant Nick because after the procedure, that’s all I heard about on the way home in the car. Lol.
Dr. McGann himself was very engaging. I appreciated that he made me feel included in the conversation. He was direct with his overall assessment of my husband’s current dental condition and what is to be expected as far as future plan of care aside from the tooth extraction.
After the initial discussion, we waited in the lobby for a few minutes while the staff prepped his room. In the meantime, we spoke with Enrique, their billing person about numbers. No problem for us. We both have awesome Dental PPO coverage so 100% was covered. The joy of having 2 dental insurances.
Anyhow, the procedure itself was quick. We were in and out of the office within 10 minutes from the procedure since a local anesthestic was opted for the extraction. My husband even took the keys away from me and drove the vehicle. He was very satisfied overall. Oh, just an FYI parking tickets don’t get validated but its $ 3 for 3 hours when you drive out of the structure. Not bad at all.
Several hours later, Dr. McGann personally called my husband to follow up which is a nice touch and a few days afterwards received a Golden Spoon frozen yogurt gift card in the mail as a «Thank You».
Funny thing is, what I didn’t share at the office with Dr. McGann and later, I reminded my husband after the visit was that Dr. McGann was my first choice awhile back. This is where a case of déjà vu had set in but different outcome. My husband needed a tooth extraction a little over a year ago and our regular dentist was unavailable. I did my research and chose Dr. McGann based on several factors. I even filled out the online form and gave the office a call to set the date. Well, that dear husband of mine never made it to that date because he decided to get all prehistoric and yanked the tooth out himself. Men! I’m shaking my head as I type this. What do you know, another opportunity presented itself once again but this time I made sure he had it done right.
Long story short. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. McGann and would definitely refer family, friends, and coworkers to his office.
