Goodwill Point Loma Store

I would donate at this Point Loma store, I use to live nearby so very convenient to drive up drop off, get a receipt and drive off with no problems. I would also go into this store and find some cute items to buy. They are clean and well organized. I have been to other Goodwill stores and they were also clean and well organized. Compared to The Salvation Army down the street from this place, which is dirty and unorganized. Enough said on them. This and the three other Goodwill stores I have been to are great. Parking for the store is small but sometimes you get lucky other times I park across the street where Odd Lot is and try to not be long.

So, you may or may not have recently had a gf and her 2 kids move in with you and bring half of creation with them. When that’s the case, who ya gonna call? GOOD-​WILL!!!
Forget the Salvation Army and their one-​way sad excuse for a parking lot that looks like it used to be an alley pre WWII or something. Forget the tricked out ghetto thift store down the street where homeless people are literally sleeping on the couches outside the door (yeah that’s right — those are the couches that they expect you to buy).
The Good Will is so easy and convenient! You pull up into the drive thru lane and the friendly people will help you unload your car with your belongings and they will load them into their bins for you. They give you a receipt if you want it — and here’s the best part — within 1 minute-​ish, you are on your way!!!
Now, don’t get me wrong — this isn’t Mr. Belvedere unloading your car or anything. These people are sometimes rough around the edges, but I think it’s good that Good Will is helping people that otherwise would be struggling for work!
So, if you have goods to donate, this couldn’t be easier — and it’s in a super easy to find location.
I’m burying the lead here, but the drive thru is on the back side of the building across the side street from Big Lots — may not be the easiest to spot if you’re looking at the front of the building from Rosecrans.

Very easy drive through at the back of the store for donation drop off. The interior of the store is well organized, clean, and has helpful workers. The furniture and books are sort of hidden in the back right corner. Like all goodwill stores, you can never walk in looking for something particular. Walking into a goodwill is like starting a treasure hunt, you have to peruse everything to find that hidden gem. I just picked up a tall all wood bookcase with no defects for a very reasonable price. A great find in my book. They are open late so you can pay for furniture and come back later to pick it up. Pickups are around the back, just drive through the donation area.

Pretty good quality clothing, compared to other thrift stores, it’s in better used conditon, not too much worn old stained clothing like other thrift stores have. I actually find a lot of designer clothes here, but they label it as «boutique» and charge more for it. Knick knacks and housewares are a bit overpriced. Not too much furniture here, as they have limited space. I am so glad they have more baby clothes here now. They have some toys now, too.
I agree with the other reviewers who had bad experiences with rude staff who were taking donations. I shop here but do not donate here.
Also, there was one security guard who was following me around the store and staring me down. I complained about it to the manager, and they apologized and said they would deal with the situation. I understand they try to help disabled people by giving them jobs, but maybe they could have more social skills training.

Horribly overpriced. Small selection. Don’t bother, seriously.

great store, very organized and neat, great quality clothing, they do not have hardly any furniture, some prices are higher then competition but if you need something you vintage you will find it here. Good customer service!

We will absolutely never donate here again and will be contacting management. We came by to donate a large sum of items, got in the donation line (one person ahead, nobody behind us) and put the car in park. My boyfriend starting unloading the items in our car to put next to the car, in order to help the workers. One guy came up YELLING at my boyfriend with a completely crap attitude telling him to stop making his job harder, that he was helping another customer and he’d get to us… my boyfriend calmly said he was just trying to help and the guy picked up one of our bins and THREW IT into the donation bin breaking several items we were donating. Must not value your donations or your time all that much!

One star because the donation center is convenient, but I found the donation center employee quite rude. Couldn’t be bothered to say hello, or even tell me what bin to place my clothes in. Does Goodwill provide customer service training? Next time I clean out my closet, I think I’ll donate elsewhere. :(

Incredibly rude, every worker ignored and refused to help me. Couldn’t even check my backpack at the counter. Guess I should’ve just walked in with it.

This place sucks! So. expensive i preffer salvation army sales! They need to have some type of sales they are way over priced for. junk! Staff is.not.freindly

Good store to find whatever you’re looking for. It’s a nice sized store so they have a decent amount of everything. They do offer senior, student and military discount so don’t forget your ID’s. There’s good amount of parking in the front & rear of the store.

Overpriced used clothing. Can go to many discount stores and get new clothing for similar pricing. The la Jolla location has some better deals because they have higher quality clothing.

I am downsizing from my house, and am not a fan of having a yard sale. I figure someone else can have the hassle of selling my possessions, and I get the write-​off and a lot more free time.
Usually I donate to another charitable organization, however, certain policies have made me look elsewhere. I decided to try Goodwill. Glad I did. Some places expect you organize everything before donating, only take certain items or make you do everything and then hand you a blank receipt for turn-​in. Not here.
Pulling in to the parking lot, two men greet me as I drive up. They direct me around some large bins to park. After greetings, they begin to help unload my truck. I tell them what each tote has in it, and away it goes.
After unloading, they provide me with a receipt detailing how much stuff I brought in. What service, and I feel good about donating to them. I feel good enough that I fill the truck bed twice more.

Not such a bad thrift store, but not great by any means. I’m rounding down from a 3.5 just because a 4 seems like too high of a score for this location.
I barely ever look at clothes at thrift stores. There is just too much old outdated crap to sort through, and things are mostly in XXL and beyond. I come for the home décor and jewelry.
The jewelry at this location really sucks for some reason. They just never have a good selection going! And things I’ve looked at are very overpriced.
The home stuff is where I spend my money. Very good selection of frames and random organization items (broom holder, plastic storage boxes). I always consider getting more stuff than I walk away with.
Overall not a bad place to stop by if you’re in the area.

I am blown away by all of the positively glowing reviews, for real. This Goodwill is nothing special and overpriced at that– 80% of the items I picked up to check the tag I thought to myself «I could buy this new at IKEA and spend less money– what’s up with that?» In my experience the prices at Goodwill are a directly proportionate to the area hipster quotient however this store is the exception to that rule.
this place is busy, for sure, which makes the experience less pleasant because you’re competing with all of the other reviewers who are scouring the store for that one glorious piece of vintage Escada or whatever. Y’all can have it– I’ll do my thrifting a few miles away in a place that prices their merchandise fairly.

I have been to this Goodwill location many, many times over the last year and a half. The selection is almost always great! I do not believe I have EVER left this location workout at least something in my arms!
As for clothing selection, this Goodwill is top notch. In fact, I hesitated to even review this location because I find some of my best clothing here. I have found brand names from Armani to Calvin Klein.
I am deducting one star because some of the items in the store have a tendency to be overpriced. However, when I find that I have overspent on something there (no refunds), I try to just remember that it is going for a good cause and helping to create jobs.
Definitely go check this one out!

WOW! I returned to this store after at least 9 months since my last visit, and I was amazed at the quality, selection, variety of items. This store is huge, and clean, relatively organized with items in order.
There are designer labels — great for those size 2 and 4 ladies, and I found designer items in pure wool, silk, and fine cotton shirts (Brooks Brothers, Faconnable, etc) and vintage ladies suits! There are lots of children’s clothing, and everything is reasonably priced. I paid between 6.99 to .99 for every item. There are whole sets of dinnerware — good quality, well priced. Hard to walk away from the housewares section of this shop.
I wanted to hesitate to keep this ‘worst kept secret’ in town, but I’m sure everyone knows, this Goodwill is a great place for bargains for every member of the household and your home.

— Man grabbed the items from my trunk
— Man asked if I needed a receipt
— I said «nope» and went on my way
BEST donation process, ever. This should be the model for all donation sites across the country.

I was surprised by how easy it was to donate our items. We have a Chevy Tahoe, and the entire vehicle was packed full of things we wanted to donate. We pulled up to the donation location about an hour after they opened (according to their website), and it looked they were still setting up. There were three employees out there — two were moving signs, and one was gesticulating to the cars that were pulling up.
Once we pulled in, we immediately had two of the workers at our doors, asking what we had brought them.
Now, to be honest, when I started putting things aside in our «donation pile», I did try to organize everything into groups, so that the final donation process would be easier. But, as we went along, the organization went a little sideways.
Still, I did hear one of the workers comment, «I love it when people give us clothes that are already folded» when they started taking our boxes and bags from our car, so I felt better about my organization attempts, at least.
So, between the three of us (us and one of the Goodwill workers), we had the car emptied within a matter of minutes. They did stop at one point to ask us if we wanted an itemized receipt for everything, and you should have seen the look of pure relief on his face when we told him it wasn’t necessary. =)
So yeah — points for being a quick and easy donation process, or for not being quite as nit-​picky as some of the other donation centers around there (*ahem*). We’ll be swinging by one more time, with the final boxes of items to be donated, and I know now that the whole process will smooth and easy, and that we’ll be in and out lickety-​split.

Absolutely one of my fave new places to buy clothes! Designer labels, some still with original tags… hell yes!
I have been scouring the thrift shops for my new Steampunk outfits and have had a lot of luck. Wasn’t even thinking of stuff for everyday wear, but when I saw things I liked, I bought them!
I’m now hitting this and the Salvation Army store on Midway like once a week. I have even found gently worn shoes here. They have different deals each day of the week and I always look for that.
I love that his one store had two giant long racks of just plus size clothing. All the other stores have it mixed in which is a pain in the ass. So this store stands out for that. Also very clean, and mostly nice employees.
