Golden Triangle Optometric Center

We have been going to Golden Triangle Optometric Center for years with no problems, until now. We have been waiting close to a month to get my wife’s glasses after lenses were switched. Staff will not expedite correction nor have her glasses ready when promised. Just called to find out what the problem is and instead of addressing my questions, was given the run around. Will definitely not go back there!

Amazing, caring, conscientious staff! Eric is simply a gem! Momma needed glasses, currently in Memory Care and I couldn’t bring her in and they went OUT of their way, above and beyond!

Got my glasses back a few weeks ago RX perfect glad I took dr advise and tried new blended bifocal I had to have my husband pick them up however I adjusted immediately to the new lenses and the frame was perfect! It’s nice to know that my first impression of the office was spot on ! Wonderful experience from start to finish!

Nice folks, but too much incompetency in the Staff. Unfortunately, they screwed up about every order for glasses they’ve placed for me. The latest (my computer glasses) they ordered the tint darker than what I asked them.

Dr. Lori Bende and her staff were very attentive, professional, thorough and helpful. From scheduling to insurance management, appointment-​setting & deciding on eyewear, it was a positive experience.

I was deeply disappointed by Pauline Blakely in this place. My wife and I always had our eye examinations done here. we got two pairs of glasses in this place a couple of years ago with no problem. I thought this is a good place and we would settled at this pace. This year, however, the experience turned out to be a big disappointment. In May 2013, I decided to get a pair of glasses with photochromatic (transitions) feature. Glasses with the transition feature will become dark under the sun-​light, an appealing feature in San Diego… I particularly asked Pauline to add the transitions feature to the new glasses, which she did as shown on the prescription (RX) she gave me. However, when I got the glasses (and finally wore them a few months later), it turned out that there was no such feature on the glasses. I called back and Pauline denied the fact that i requested the feature. I showed her the prescription but she insisted saying that there was no such feature in their final receipt (of course there wasn’t any because she forgot to put it onto the order she sent to the lab). They did offer a remake of the glasses but asked me to pay ~$ 140 for the transitions feature out of my own pocket, which would have costed me nothing had they included it in the first place (the insurance would have covered it.).
To be fair, the doctors and receptionists in this place are nice and professional, but I was deeply disappointed by the carelessness of Pauline and the way she treated the customer afterwards. I would not recommend this place.

Excellent customer service from the moment that I walked in, despite being short staffed that day. Dr. Bende is phenomenal and such a sweetheart. The only downside is their prescription eyeglasses selection is pretty minimal, but that won’t budge my 5 star rating!!!

Not kid friendly!
I decided to make an appointment for my 5 year old and myself based on the Unilocal reviews.
My son is very active so I usually have books and toys to entertain him while we wait at appointments and there usually isn’t any problems. However, it’s hard to fill out paperwork and keep an active child, in a new environment, completely still.
I’m not sure why I filled out the online forms because I was handed 3 more pieces of paper to work on before I could see the doctor. Whatever, no biggie, until… the second my son touched ANYTHING a woman behind the counter would say in an extremely nasty tone of voice «ahem, ahem. Ma’am, he can’t touch that».
I would ask him to stop, distract him and start to fill out the paperwork when she would say it again, and then again, and… well you get the point. I almost walked out but I had already made time for the appointment, hired a babysitter for my 2 year old, not to mention my 5 year old needed a new prescription for school!
Finally, we got in to see Dr. Bende and the exam went okay. She was nice to my son and showed me pictures of her children but there was no real connection there. I found myself apologizing for his inquisitive nature and a tenancy to want to touch and ask about all the equipment although he was doing exactly what children do!
What I don’t understand is this: why claim to take children as patients when your staff clearly isn’t trained or even willing to work with them?!
During my appointment I explained to Dr. Bende that my eyes get extremely red when I’m tired and she told me she had something she could prescribe for me. However, I never got the prescription. I even called the next week and explained to the office staff that I was supposed to get a prescription. She took my information and said she would call after confirming it with the Dr. No one ever called me back.
Needless to say I won’t be making another appointment.

Phone Call for appointment was very smooth, got an appointment immdiately for a convenient time. Found this through my insurance company’s directory, then saw the ratings, figured the individual bad review was just a fluke, and it was.
This is a small office, with what looks like a total of one pre-​exam room, another exam room and then maybe a back office. In the front you get two walls of frames to choose from, and a 3 chair waiting area along a wall toward the exam rooms.
The staff are very friendly and cheerful, very honest and upfront. Others mentioned the positives of Pauline, I agree.
I saw Dr. Bende, who was very friendly, explained the exam as she was doing it, explained her findings on completion, etc. Very thorough and called me back in 1 week to make sure the new contacts were comfortable and fit well.
Looks like I found a new home for my optometry needs.

I’ve been going to Golden Triangle Optometrc for 5 years now and the Dr. Bende and Dr. Chin along with their staff are awesome. Not to mention the excellent selection of fashionable frames! Because of them I get my eyes check every year and will continue to for as long as possible. I highly recommend them!

This was my first time at Golden Triangle and it was a fantastic experience. I chose this office because they had Saturday appointments — which I needed since I am a stay at home mom and couldn’t imagine bringing my 2 year old to an exam.
I’ve been wearing contacts/​glasses for 20 years and I have never had an eye appointment so smooth and efficient. I am use to spending half my appointment waiting around for the doctor and that definitely wasn’t the case here. The staff was extremely nice and I loved how they spent time with me to explain how my insurance would work in different scenarios. The selection of frames for women was fantastic. I was very impressed and definitely recommend Golden Triangle to my friends.

The doctors and staff at Golden Triangle Optometric Center are the best! From the first interaction I had with them on the phone, to the email I got reminding me of my appointment, to the super-​convenient online patient information form (because really, who wants to show up for a doctor’s appointment and spend 15 minutes filling out a bunch of paperwork?) and even 6 months later when I called for more contacts, I’ve never had a better experience with a doctor’s office.
I’ve been wearing glasses or contacts since I was ten years old, and I have never had a more comprehensive eye exam. I had a lot of questions about the tests and how they worked, and Desiree was fantastic. She explained everything to me clearly and concisely and seemed to really enjoy what she was doing.
Dr. Chin did my vision exam and I never expected her to spend so much time with me. Before she even started on my vision check, she asked me about my job (I sit in front of a computer most of the day), habits (yes, I have been known to fall asleep knitting), and hobbies (I love the outdoors and spend a lot of time on the water). And she didn’t just ask the questions — she asked follow-​up questions, and she talked to me about solutions that would work for me in my lifestyle. Then she started the vision exam.
You’ve all been there: «One, or two? Two, or three? Three, or one?» and if you’re like me, it’s confusing as hell, and you walk out of there slightly dazed and wondering if you just had an eye exam or if you’re part of a psychological experiment where they show you the same thing over and over again and try to get you to say it’s something else.
But Annie was SO patient. Anytime I hesitated, she’d go back and do it again. Then she fine-​tuned it until even I felt confident. After the exam, she explained a few things to me about my vision that no one had bothered with before, and then gave me pair of contacts that she thought would be perfect for my lifestyle. I tried them on, she checked my vision again, and then she told me to make another appointment in two weeks so she could see how the contacts were wearing.
I had decided to get new glasses at the same time, so my next stop was with Pauline.
Pauline is the buttery icing on the delicious, rich, substantial cake that is Golden Triangle Optometry. She spent 45 minutes helping me pick out frames. Forty-​five minutes!
She talked to me about different frame styles, about the benefits to different materials, and was frank with me about what I needed to spend money on and what wasn’t as important. She, too, spent a lot of time talking to me about my lifestyle so that she could help me make the best choice. She is SO knowledgeable and is dedicated to constantly learning new things about the industry.
I ended up falling in love with some pretty expensive frames and was a little hesitant about the cost, and she showed me some less expensive alternatives.
Okay, yes, I bought the expensive ones. And I LOVE them!
I didn’t end up buying contacts right away, because I still had some left from a previous purchase, and I was wearing my very cute and stylish new glasses a lot. About four months later, I needed a new pair of contacts and cracked open the «leftover» box. It wasn’t until then that I realized what a HUGE difference the contacts Dr. Chin had prescribed made in my vision and comfort level.
I called them up to see if they had my prescription in stock. When I stopped in that afternoon, the contacts were ready and waiting for me! I had to dash out pretty quickly but it was so great to see Desiree, Pauline, and Dr. Chin again! I am so glad I found them!
