I’m so happy to have found this place! I set out to sell some old jewelry and use that to purchase an engagement ring. I got way more money than I was expecting for my old stuff. However, the best part was purchasing a custom made ring from them as well at a great deal less than I would have paid elsewhere. Carmine is highly professional and a really good guy. I suggest anyone looking to sell their gold or buy a very nice ring look to this business.

Honorable business, private setting where you can sit down, watch the procedure, ask questions & receive polite and straight answers from a nice young man (Carmine) who takes the time & doesn’t rush you. I decided to come to Gold Refinery of SD on the same day, after another gold store on Clairemont Mesa Blvd kicked me out just because the store owner got offended since she’s not good at Math and she felt intimidated when I asked about her calculation. My conclusion: I should’ve never visited the other store on Clairemont Mesa Blvd, it was such a waste of time & energy!
There was 1 customer ahead of me. In about 10 mins, I got my turn. Carmine introduced himself to begin with, a nice beginning of a transaction, which the Clairemont Mesa store owner did not do, and until I left I still didn’t know her name. Carmine examined my gold bracelet and said it is 18K (written) and confirmed with the X-​Ray machine to make sure it is 18K. The other store on Clairemont Mesa told me it was 14K by using stone method, and surely X-​Ray is much more accurate than the manual stone method. Carmine paid me 35% more than how much the Clairemont Mesa store quoted. I was so happy I met Carmine because otherwise, I would get ripped by the other store.
Also, I asked Carmine if he could test my other jewelries that I was unsure whether they are silver or not. And then, I asked him to check how much my other gold jewelries worth and he was gladly doing it regardless later on I decided not to sell some of them. Carmine proved me that he is very knowledgeable in what he’s doing and he gives a great customer service to his customer. He didn’t even complain when he appraised some jewelries, which I still decided to keep. Everything was done in roughly 15 mins. Ha! This is how you do business & make customers leave happily :-)

Great customer service. Carmine was very friendly. They will give you a fair price here. You won’t be ripped off like you would at a pawn shop or «we buy gold» locations. Don’t expect to get paid big $$$$ for your gold. This is a business after all, but they will be FAIR. I would go here again to sell.

The Gold Refinery is nestled in the back corner of a little shopping center.
It’s right behind the Chinese food place.
They take walk ins M-​F 1230 to 5. I called ahead and spoke with Carmine, whom was very helpful over the phone.
I’ve never been to a gold selling place before, I was kind of sketched out at first. But the safety precautions this place seemed to present seemed legit.
Greeted by a smiling face behind the glass, You have to get buzzed in, cameras everywhere, sign in give info and DL. Then buzzed through another door, chairs placed in front of bullet proof glass everywhere.
I had a measly gold ring to check the gold value on… I didn’t even meet the sale minimum, but Carmine checked the weight, value and authenticity of the gold with his gold analyzer computer thing. What was cool is that I learned a lot about the Jewelry industry from this nice guy Carmine.
Because I think Carmine felt bad for me after hearing how ripped off I got from the jeweler I bought the piece from, he made an exception on his minimum and bought the tiny ring from me; after my lesson on how many Jewelers swindle their customers with ridiculous markups.
Anyways, you sign some papers, finger prints and then the sale/​exchange is complete.
Overall this place is very legit and secure. Not sleezy, no thug-​lifes trying to pawn stolen things… Seemed very family friendly as well.

Wow, this place is fantastic! I was paid, in cash 62% more than the local jewelers had offered me the same day. Carmine and the young lady working there were so nice and accommodating. They went way above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. I brought in some old gold jewelry to sell and they even gave me cash for the diamonds in the rings. This place is legit! Definitely go here and save yourself the time of shopping around!

This place was a bit scary at first because once you walk in you are greeted by lifeless furniture and a woman behind a thick glass. You are asked to show identification and sign in. Once the appraiser/​gemologist/​metal specialist/​oh well whatever they are called or do is ready for you, you are buzzed in. Once past the door you are in a waiting room like area with two seats right in front of the room in which you will talk to the «specialist». The guy who checked out our stuff was so nice and soft spoken. He really eased my anxiety and I had a very pleasant experience. There are no gimmicks. You are paid market price of what you sell and they try their best to give a good and at least fair price for what you bring, provided what you bring is what they want.
We walked away with some nice change and was a few grams lighter of jewelry we hardly wore. I would definitely come back again if I had more jewelry to sell.

I had a considerable amount of silver coins and some gold to sell. After walking into several «cash for gold» shops and feeling like they were low balling me I almost gave up. I then found Carmine at Gold Refinery of San Diego. I drove an hour south to meet with him on appointment. He was completely professional and extremely knowledgeable about all metals and even the value of the coins. He gave me a very fair price for everything I wanted to sell, and even took the time to educate me on many particulars of the coins and gold.
I cannot recommend Gold Refinery enough. You’ll be treated very fairly and professionally while in a very secure environment.

As an older, more established person I generally have no need to sell jewelry for financial reasons, however I inherited some estate jewelry and it had been sitting around in a bag for quite some time. So I turned to Unilocal for help and found Carmine. I signed in with ID as required and waited a short time. I was taken to the appraisal room and my items were professionally separated and examined. Due to the quantity it took quite some time, but Carmine carefully went about his work right in front of me, explaining each step along the way. Afterwards I was provided a written quote and offered the option to sell to him, which I did. Clean, organized and professional start to finish. Highly recommended.

I went to a local jeweler AND a pawn shop to have some things appraised. They told me half of my things weren’t real and weren’t worth anything. That I should just give them away. Then, I found Gold Refinery of San Diego and met up with Carmine. (Not sure of correct spelling, my apologies). He looked at all my things and verified they were ALL real and worth money! I will NEVER go anywhere else to sell my old pieces of jewelry… and neither should you!

This place is AWESOME! I was looking to sell 2 rings that I have had for a while but never wear. I had gone to Leo Hammel the same day and they offered me 80 dollars for the rings. The employee that I met with there was not very professional. She didnt test the diamonds in my rings or take very much time looking them over. I dont know much about the price of gold but I thought 80 dollars was pretty low so I headed over to the Gold Refinery of San Diego to make sure I was getting a fair price. Talk about a different experience! The staff was friendly and professional. Carmine was very helpful. He took the time to explain to me the worth of my rings, tested the diamonds, weighed the rings and used a standard chart to price them. They were able to offer me 140 dollars for the same rings! I was thrilled. If I ever need to sell any jewelery again, I know where I will be going!

I called several places for a quote on a piece of 14K gold jewelry I wanted to sell. Yes, Gold Refinery did ask for a full name before giving a quote, and yes, I did have to sign in to get in — and that meant print, sign, and give legible info. I also found the info on the website to be accurate.
The sad thing is that a few years ago, there were places around where you could get up to 70% of the real gold value paid out. Now, this place is the best, and they offer about 50−55% of full market value, at least in the quantity I had. But, hey, I called several other places, and many were offering 30−40% — highway robbery!
They also pay in cash, where some other places give you a check. Honestly, if you are in financial straits dire enough to be selling your jewelry, my guess is that you don’t need to have your bank putting a hold on a check.
Several places refused to even give a quote over the phone — very sketchy. I took the piece to one place near me that offered snacks and free drinks, but wanted to give me $ 100 less than the Gold Refinery. Well, thanks for the free pretzels, but I’ll be moving on.
When it comes to selling gold in the San Diego area, I honestly think this is the best price you will get.

Professional, clean, secure environment. Carmine is dignified, professional, and friendly. I felt completely comfortable here. Everything was explained and put into writing.
As a plus, there is easy parking right in front.

I am very happy about the transaction I made with Carmine. He is a very polite, honest, gentleman and I am pleased with the amount of money he gave me for some unused, broken gold and tarnished silver jewelry that I had literally laying around.
I personally didn’t find the hours, M-​F 12−6pm, all that inconvenient and the shop is located in a very safe, accessible area with plenty of free parking.
I am so glad that I checked Unilocal and found a reputable business to deal with.

This is the best place to sell gold for sure! Carmine is super cool. The office is clean and comfortable. They have a waiting area (which is never longer than a few minutes wait) and a back room where they go to weigh the gold and give you cash or check as payment. I have been to the store 3 times and each time left with HUNDREDS of DOLLARS! Petty awesome for broken-​down crap I will never wear again!

First of all, I never showed any kind of ID when I came in because I never sold anything to you. As for your sign in sheet, I scribbled nothing because I didn’t want to risk you spamming me. And I spoke with a woman on the phone, never gave her any personal information (as I never do), and when I came in a man helped me in the store.

I called, got price on phone, confirmed directions. I get here and they are not open yet. I guess I could have checked their crazy hours — but the guy on the phone should have 1 — mentioned it, or 2 — helped anyway since he is here in the building. He suggested that I could wait in the parking lot for 20 minutes.
Update — I just went to San Diego Coin & Bullion — they gave me a better price, and it was a much more professional establishment.

This place rules! I had this old chunky gold bracelet that I found in my parents’ driveway when I was kid. I’ve literally been carrying this ugly old thing around with me, moving around the country, for at least 15 years… always meaning to sell it, but never getting around to it. A few months ago, I stopped at one of those «cash for gold» kiosks in the mall and they priced it at a little over $ 100. I was stoked but wanted to compare prices before selling it. A few days ago I went to the Gold Refinery and they gave me almost $ 300!!! I was super pumped since I was hoping for maybe $ 100 again. I have no idea if it was a good price or not, but it was so much more than the stupid Cash for Gold place that I was happy. Be warned that there is a 1 oz minimum and I was sure this big chunky bracelet was more than an ounce, but it wasn’t. He took it anyway though. Awesome!

This is s simple story.
I had lame gold jewelry, that would never be worn by anyone. I had said jewelry for a long time.
Gold prices are high. SO I sold the lame gold jewelry to a refinery.
Carmine, who isn’t quite as Italian looking as his name implies, was pretty helpful, took the time to explain stuff, etc. He even offered me a decent price for some silver coins and other various silver items so I wouldn’t have those things hanging around.
I am several hundred dollars more interested in keeping a clean house now. It’s crazy what you will find to get rid of, when you actually do a deep house cleaning.
It’s straightforward. The guy buzzes you in, and then you sit with a bulletproof glass between you while he tests your gold, etc. You sign that it isn’t stolen, and then you leave. Several hundreds of dollars richer.
maybe I’m just a fan because I would have never sold the crap if I hadn’t cleaned… who knows. They are going to evaluate some diamonds for me (GIA cert’d) and maybe we do some more business. 4 stars for now.
