Dr. Gilmore and his entire staff are beyond fantastic! My two daughters and my mother are all in braces right now and patients of Dr. Gilmore. Every time we walk into the office we are always greeted warmly, Dr. Gilmore even comes out to greet us personally every visit. His staff are beyond friendly and accommodating. Top notch service and highly recommend!

Unilocal’s reviews are a very useful tool for me. And, today, after my sons visited Dr. Gilmore’s office, it dawned on me that I have neglected to submit a review of his office.
If you are in the market for an orthodontist, look no further. You have found the right doctor, staff, and office. My sons have graduated to retainers and their smiles are amazing. And, this is all thanks to Dr. David Gilmore.
Dr. Gilmore is not just a orthodontist. He is a caring leader in our community (who volunteers regularly), a humanitarian, and extremely interested in doing what he can to assist us parents, with shaping our children into productive and contributing members of society. And, if I may also add, he is retired military. I personally thank him for his, over 20 years, of service, in protecting our country.
Each visit, from the first day we met Dr. Gilmore, my sons were treated with the utmost respect. Dr. Gilmore has always made it a point to make our family feel important. No matter how busy he may be, he will stop and say hello, when he sees you. He is über interested in making sure you are happy. At no point, in the two years my sons had appointments (or conversations), with the staff or Dr. Gilmore, did we feel rushed or unimportant. Furthermore, after the initial installation of the braces (on both boys), Dr. Gilmore personally called me, asking how they were doing, taking time to see if there was anything else he could do. The boys’ father and I were stunned. Then, we went from stunned to being impressed and confident that Gilmore Orthodontics was more than just a place to get your teeth straightened. Gilmore Orthodontics is a place where people care and want to make a difference, in the time they are fortunate enough to have you as a patient.
Most importantly, Dr. Gilmore is a cheerleader. He is genuinely interested in how both my sons perform in school. When they receive straight A report cards (or high GPAs in general), Dr. Gilmore calls and congratulates them. He has also made wonderful suggestions on what the boys should do to get into the colleges of their choice.
I would not hesitate to recommend Gilmore Orthodontics to anyone. If my family is lucky enough (and Dr. Gilmore has not yet retired), my grandchildren will be going to see him.
Lastly, in May 2013, I submitted an unsolicited testimonial to Dr. Gilmore’s office (see below). As you will note, after reading, our sincere gratitude and appreciation has only grown stronger.

We visited Dr. Gilmore, during a series of consultation visits with multiple orthodontists. I took my sons to prepare them for getting braces. I wanted to ensure that they were comfortable with the doctor, the staff, the treatment plan, and understood the investment that was being made to enhance the dental health.
Our wish list of ortho care included the following:
1. A comprehensive understanding of the dental treatment.
2. A warm and personal office, focused on the needs of the patient.
3. Office appointment flexibility (and availability)
4. Value
I was impressed from the moment I made the call for an appointment. Stephanie understood our family was «shopping» and not impulsively making a decision. She was very open and flexible in gaining us as patients. The office is designed to meet a child’s comfort (i.e., TVs, game station, free water, and options for where their procedures are performed). Dr. Gilmore was very engaging and patient in explaining the dental plan to our sons. The dental treatment for one of my sons’, with an overbite, was more appealing than previous consultations. My sons were definitely more engaged and excited about the process. The office hours are suited so that there will be little to no interruption in their school schedules. We were provided with a family discount for multiple children. And, the office offered an affordable in-​house payment plan. Our decision was made before we walked out from the consultation.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Gilmore to friends, family, and co-​workers.

Beware of businesses with all 5 star reviews. Something definitely wrong.
Our experience was far from perfect, or professional. More like permanently traumatizing. We dealt more with the finance/​office manager than the doctor. In fact, all pre-​treatment meetings were with the office manager, and not the doctor.
Since we were getting more than one opinion, the doctor decided not to spend much time detailing treatment with us until we made a final decision. Once we did decide on Gilmore, he had forgotten us. Never did the detail. When I asked for details of the treatment plan, the office manager kept telling us Dr. Gilmore had already gone over it. This office is so used to cookie cutter style treatment, if something different comes up, it totally throws them off. Our request was never granted. I brushed it off. Figured the doctor would know what to do without filling me in. Big mistake.
They put the wrong braces on my daughter. I saw this right away, and when I questioned the doctor, he blamed the office manager. He didn’t even put them on… it was an assistant. Went on like this for a few minutes… blaming everyone in the office, including me… just not taking responsibility. When I asked if he would just look at the file to double check, he said he didn’t have a file. Something about going over patients at morning staff meetings. So, no files and relying on memory of something a secretary told you to do 6 hours before? No follow-​up?
To the office/​finance manager’s benefit… she took the bullet for Dr. Gilmore. Apologized profusely. Got us an appointment next day (specifically during their lunch hour so other patients wouldn’t see the mess caused). Gave us the money back immediately (we had paid in full, in advance. Perhaps once you pay, they don’t feel the need for the doctor to pay attention. I don’t recommend paying up front).
Permanent damage. Extra dental costs. The doctor took the braces off himself. I think probably with a little too much gusto. Now my daughter has severely sensitive teeth. Probably damage to the enamel. Gilmore didn’t even talk to me about what to do after this. Said something nasty about people not needing pain killers (kind of insinuating that I did all this to score codine or something… Yes that’s it… $ 5000 plus for braces and dentist so I can get $ 100 worth of hydrocodone… that makes sense) The office decided we wouldn’t work out as patients.
So I’m guessing the ones that «work out as patients» are ones you didn’t totally screw up on. Any complaints… like «Gee…these aren’t the braces I just paid $ 5000 for.» aren’t tolerated.
Flee. Run away. Find a nice orthodontist, without the flash or gimicks. Not a cosmetic mill.

When we originally moved to San Diego a year ago we were looking for an orthodontics that was conveniently located in our area. We happened to be shopping at Trader Joe’s and stumbled upon Gilmore Orthodontics, I’m glad that we did… not only can she walk there after school, which also ads to convenience, they are fast, efficient, and have the most state of the art equipment… we signed up in August ’14 and received a free mini iPad! 15 months later… one month from now mini me’s braces will be off! WOW!

Having two of our boys treated at Gilmore Orthodontics, we feel very comfortable and at home at every appointment. Their pristine clinical environment, educated and professionally trained doctor & staff & high tech everything makes braces fun and easy. The staff always takes the time to talk to the patient and their family about what treatment was done at that particular appointment. We are in and out in without delay and they seem to remember every activity my boys are involved in and take the time to inquire. I would and have recommended this office to everyone. Gilmore Ortho ROCKS!

Dr. Gilmore is the best orthodontist ever!
Getting braces isn’t really something you want, but dr. Gilmore and his staff made it such a great experience for me. It was like a walk in the park. It didn’t even feel like I had braces. I even got compliments on my braces! He and his awesome staff have helped me get the smile I’ve always wanted.
Kudos to not only being cool, but his staff is fantastic! They had me looking forward to getting my braces adjusted.
Kinda bummed I’m done with my braces, but I still get to see them for the retainers!

We have been extremely pleased with our 2+ year relationship with Dr. Gilmore. My son’s braces are off, he is wearing his retainer and his teeth look great. Dr. Gilmore was one of several orthodontists that we interviewed. His pricing is reasonable, his procedures are very advanced and his staff and office are friendly and accommodating.
Dr. Gilmore takes a personal interest in the well-​being of his patients and what is happening in their lives. It helped my son feel very comfortable and he actually looked forward to his appointments and spending time with Dr. Gilmore. We would recommend him again to anybody. You will not go wrong here.

The staff is always helpful and friendly. Dr. Gilmore is extremely knowledgable and professional. When I first started my treatment I let Dr. Gilmore know that my wedding was coming in several months. He assured me that there would be no issue with taking the braces off for the wedding and then resuming treatment once I was done with my wedding. I have gone to other orthodontists who were not okay with this request and gave me a hard time. I’m so glad my dentist recommended Dr. Gilmore to me.

We moved less that a year ago from norther California, where one of my daughters just finished her orthodontic treatment. We knew that we needed to find an orthodontist for her to continue check up for her retainer and to start treatment for her younger sisters. My husband and I knew that we have a few choices in the area and I checked reviews and asked around but honestly couldn’t decide. What is important for us was not only to get the best service available for our girls, but to find a great value too and convenient location. What was really appealing for us, was that Dr. Gilmore worked in the Navy. My husband was in the Navy and we know how high are their standards. And those standards reflect every time that we walk in the office. The service is excellent, his staff is pure awesomeness, and more important my 3 daughters are happy and excited about their treatments. In addition, he is also conveniently located a few doors down from my daughters’ dentist. If anyone is looking for excellent service, convenient location and great value, no need to shop around, just get the free consultation with Dr. Gilmore!!!

I am so pleased to have found Dr. Gilmore. He and his staff are amazing and give top notch customer service. I was initially hesitant about getting braces and did plenty of research on alternatives to invisalign and traditional braces. I initially wanted invisalign because I wanted this process to be the least noticeable but unfortunately it wouldn’t give the results I wanted so I found about Damon braces and Dr. Gilmore. I have clear Damon’s on the top and metal on the top and they are hardly noticeable. Some people still haven’t even noticed I have them.
I’m only a few days in and had some problems with the wire poking my cheek. I called Dr. Gilmore and he came in after hours just for me! I was beyond happy and super grateful. He is so wonderful and nice and put all my concerns at ease. He even gave me a follow up call to see how i was doing after the first day. Stephanie, the receptionist, is pleasant, friendly and great to talk to. Dr. Gilmore’s assistants Nicole and Heather made getting my braces put on such a breeze by being so funny and understanding.
Oh, and did I mention the office is extremely nice, clean, and up to date with complimentary wifi, a game console, and a fridge with bottled water. =D

Highly recommend Dr. Gilmore!!! Just got my Damon Braces and can’t wait to finally have straight teeth in 14 months. The office very high tech, sterile, and has a super friendly staff. Dr. Gilmore is a pro – he’s very nice, patient, and accommodating.
Dr. Gilmore only specializes in Damon braces and Invisalign, (not the regular braces) so if you’re looking for the Damon braces which take less time, less discomfort (than traditional braces) and are less noticeable, this is the place to go.

Knowledgeable, experienced, and friendly. A very nice, modern, and welcoming staff and facility. Makes me wish I was a kid so I could play games on the game console… actually, I would have played while, I waited, but the console was in use by a little kid having way too much fun, plus I hardly had to wait to be seen so it wouldn’t have made a difference. They have the news on a flat screen as well, so if you want to pretend to be an adult, like I do, it’s the perfect place. If you are looking for an ortho in the area of Poway (San Diego), be it for braces, Invisalign (I had this treatment done long ago, I love it and recommend it), or the new Damon system of braces (I only know about this because I’m obsessed with my teeth and recently considered pursuing dentistry), then this is the place for you. Plus they have wi-​fi… so I get to take care of business on my smart phone as I wait. If you are looking for an old school ortho facility, then this place isn’t for you. Thanks for the work d-​doc! OH! The doc is a prior navy orthodontist!!! Meh… I thought that was cool.
