Gethsemane Christian Pre School

We feel so blessed to have the staff at Gethsemane look out for our young son (he’s in his second year). I appreciate the open, honest communication of the directors and the consistent cleanliness of the facility.
They go above and beyond with events (they put on shows and have various holiday events you can participate in). A lot of work and extra time is put in by the staff and it shows.
Both my son’s teachers have been so kind and caring. They really get to know your child. There is a brand new playground for the younger kids and the creative activities produce the cutest take-​home projects.
All the kids seem so well behaved. I’ve never walked in and felt any chaos or seen a flustered, overwhelmed teacher. They have perfected a calm, happy environment where the children seem to thrive.
Kudos to the whole staff!

This school is one of the best hidden secrets in Serra Mesa. My 12 year-​old went to preschool at Gethsemane for 1 year. He went from shy to outgoing with the support of the teachers. They focus not only on the basics: reading, writing, Etc, but also on social skills. As result he thrived in school when moved on to kindergarten. My 4 year-​old has been attending the school since he was two and loves the school! I feel at home at Gethsemane and would definitely recommend the pre-​school.

This is an amazing school, the Staff is friendly, down to earth and professional! The kids are happy, always engaged and excited to share their daily experiences with anyone who will listen! They just recently made improvements to their play yard and always put the kids best interest first! When our kids go off to Kindergarten it is a bitter sweet feeling because we are excited for the next adventure, but we will truly miss this school and the staff!

This school was OK initially, however the promise of a discount after child was potty-​trained was bogus. Also the days requested for part time, considering my schedule were not available as well. They were reluctant to keep the buggers and snot out my kids nose, so everyday crusty boogers from morning time. The teachers are in the stone age and dont email or correspond via electronics. When you have a question it seems as though they are defensive and thus could lead to confrontation. After being certified potty-​trained with certificate and all, my child started having bladder control problems repeatedly and when asked what happened the teacher got very defensive and yelled at me in front of other children. When asked if she could lower her tone and if we coukd talk outside. she refused. She then later accepted andwe went into another class room, but continued to shout… when notifying her I would have to discontinue the conversation she then put her hand on the door as to block my departure. I now see why my son had bladder control issues. Im a grown man and she is trying this with me, no telling what she is doing to my kid when im not there. This was I thought a good place, but the vibes there are just weird. I appreciate what they did do the little it was, but I wouldn’t and couldn’t recommend this facility to a friend or family member. Please be advised. The images they post here are very depictive of the atmosphere, gloomy and unprofessional.

We had a very negative experience at this preschool. The teacher was too young, unexperienced and didn’t know how to handle lively children. The director was rude and abrasive with us. Very very disappointed.
The only positive thing was that the place is kept really clean.

Both of my nieces attended Gethsemane and are now 18/​21yrs old. My 7yr old son also went there and my 4yr old daughter is currently attending. There is a reason that my family has trusted Gethsemane with the care of our precious children… The staff! They have always been loving and kind with an interest in teaching their students everything from manners to letters/​numbers and safety. But it’s not just the staff. The facilities are always clean (as are the children). The cost is less than most other schools and you get a lot more in return. I’m thankful every day that I found this school for my kids and am sure I’m not the only one. Thanks again everyone at Gethsemane. Thank you for your patience with my angel. You do an awesome job!

By far one of the best preschools in San Diego. The director is very passionate about maintaining this level of service for over twenty years. Staff is top-​notch and care for your children as if they are theirs.
Gethsemane alumni are top of their class.
