Gateway Military Housing

Parents do not watch the kids. At the park, in the street, or at the pool. It is like real housewives for E-​6 and below. If something breaks you have to call it in, wait a few days, then have someone fix it half ass because they have 50 other things to fix that day. the maintenance guys are great people don’t get me wrong. No one here cares about anything and ever spouse has something to say about everything. shoot for the strand, murphy cannon, or the best bet is out in town where 2200 gets you way, way more!!! Out in town the property manager (housing office) will listen to what you have to say and correct the issues. I could go on all day about the bad. however if your E5 and below… you could do worse. its a roof

We have lived in Italy and Spain in base housing and economy and we are very happy in our 3 bed 3.5 bath 3AC floor plan in gateway village. We committed to the house over the phone on the PCS drive from SC to CA and we’re nervous about signing for the house without seeing it. We were pleasantly surprised when we got the keys. Things we like… eat in kitchen, 2 car garage (fits my Honda Odyssey and Acura TL), large attic storage in garage, storage shelves built into garage, garbage disposal, double stainless sink, GE appliances (gas stove, gas dryer, dishwasher, washer, central heat/​ac, alarm system with built in smoke/​carbon monoxide detection and panic button in bedroom, large closets in each room, and decent size bathrooms. It is a townhouse so you occasionally hear neighbors up and down stairs but insulation and sound barrier is good so we don’t hear voice or TV noise. The community outdoor pool is heated and very large. Cardio room is adequate and opens at 5am. Currently only AT&T and Cox Cable service the area. Interior is updated with neutral colors. Walls are textured instead of flat paint and they are off white. You can’t paint the walls if you prefer different colors though. I will be posting a video of the 3AC floor plan soon. We had 9 crates and over 11 000 pounds of household goods and everything fits fine with plenty of storage. The garage attic storage is the best feature if you have a lot of stuff. If you are moving here study the floor plans and Google map the address before accepting to help you decide on a good location.
The location is perfect. NTC is 2 blocks away and has tons of restraunts, cafes, Vons grocery, starbucks… etc and a huge park area with fields and playgrounds. Our kids love tidied bikes and playing there. MCRD is 2 blocks the other way and has marine corps shops, bowling, arcade .etc. MCRD has a boat house you can’t rent motor boats for 35 or 50 a day as well as sail boats and lots of other stuff.

This housing is awful! We’ve been here over a year and a half and can’t wait to move! We got put in a courtyard area where all the neighbors smoke outside, gossip and create problems for all the other neighbors. There’s tons of kids playing out front everyday and it is soo loud! They play on people’s porches, mess with their deco and trash the place. At least 4 times a week we catch bums going through our garbage and making a mess out of it. This area is so trashy and disgusting, I honestly never would have moved my family into this housing if I knew what it was like. My advice… go to Village at NTC. A million times better!

We have lived in Gateway Village for six months now and we sure don’t have a whole lot to complain about. We are in a three bedroom free-​standing house,
with a connecting garage. I love that we do not share a wall with another family like most of the homes in this housing. Our home is spacious, bright, and roomy. I do love that about it. We have linoleum downstairs and carpet upstairs and in the downstairs bedrooms. I love having carpet, but I must admit the carpet in these rooms feels very cheap. We have all of the necessary appliances, which is always a plus, but the dishwasher and garbage disposal aren’t of the highest quality. The neighborhood is beautiful, the yards are well maintained and it feels safe. There are tons of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. I could do without the strip clubs down the street, though.
Overall, I think Gateway is probably one of the best military housing options in San Diego. Central heating and air is included, by the way. The housing staff is friendly and maintenance is quick to take care of any issues you may have.

Don’t move here this place is horrible and the privilege of living here adds to the pretentious attitude of the people at Lincoln military housing.
