Horrible service!!! They deserve no stars!! Never will i ever rent from this company!!! I reserved a full size suv and when i got there the told me they didnt have any avaliable. they said they would call me tomorrow to come switch the van i had to take to the suv I reserved but they never called me! i had the rental from Thursday to monday never heard from them. I spoke to the manager when it was returned and said he would give me 50% off but when i looked at my account only 15% was giving. I emailed them asking for the managers contact number amd Ben the employee that i was in contact with through email just ignored my email and never got back to me!! dont rent from this company!

I had the WORST customer service from the Operation Manager on site, Gamaliel H. This experience was so difficult and disappointing, I’d like to warn anyone considering this company to GO ELSEWHERE!
I reserved a compact car online a day before for $ 237, for 8 days, and paid with my credit card. When I got to the location I asked if they had any better deals than what was online. The man working with me was very friendly and helpful. He said they offered a walk-​in deal that was only $ 203. The representative processed the plan and charged my credit card for $ 203+$ 150 deposit. Then the screen froze and he wasn’t able to retrieve my reservation, so he got his manager Gamaliel to come find it. He arrived, in a very unpleasant way, barely acknowledged my presence and sat down at the computer. He said, very nonchalantly that the the system automatically flagged this as an issue and prevented them from completing the contract because it made it look like people were trying to manipulate the system for a better deal. There was nothing he could do. He literally put his hands up as if they were tied and he had no ability to do anything to accommodate me in this situation.
I requested that he still honor the walk-​in price despite the error on his employee’s part as I had already been charged for the lower price! Again, this time in an annoyed fashion he said that there was nothing he could do, that his direct manager, the GM, was not on site and that the system wouldn’t let him do it.
How, this late in the process can he NOT honor the contract?!? The last piece of this was to print out the paperwork. it wasn’t as if we hadn’t already settled on the details and a price! I was in disbelief at his lack of competency, his employees lack of skill, and the overall unwillingness to try to improve the situation!
I was so frustrated at this point, I decided it was better to walk away with no car than to get ripped off even further. Then, to make matters worse, they were not able to reimburse ANY of the charges. At this point they’ve charged me $ 590 and I have NO CAR! Gamaliel stated he didn’t have the ability to make refunds on site and that he’d send an email to his accounting department asking them to send me a refund. How does any company these days NOT have the ability to refund a customer on a credit card?
What is most upsetting about this experience was Gamaliel’s lack of apology or attempt to repair the situation his company caused. As the highest up manager on site, he should have been able to honor the cheaper rate. I will never to go back to Fox Rent A Car again!

SCREW THIS PLACE!!! been on hold for over 45 minutes and i called back 3 times only to wait about 10 minutes before i kept hanging up.
booked a reservation online for 41 $ and once i entered credit card info in it arose to 70 $

I would give no stars if possible. Their customer service was so horrible that I waited TWICE on hold for 20 minutes. Never even got to rent the damn car

I was a bit worried about this company, but the whole experience from pick up to drop off was amazing. The lady that helped me check in and pay was the sweetest lady. Great customer service, very personable. I wish I could remember her name. 5 stars to her for making the process go smoothly and enjoyable. The car was nice, the price was right, and drop off went just as smooth. I will use this company again and hope future interactions will be just as great.

Don’t waste your time saving 30 bucks go with any other rental place. Waited 20 min for the van 40 min in line then another 30 just waiting for a car. Horrible service

We had to return our car due to a nail in one of the rear tires and the low pressure signal. We had a baby in the car and was worried about making it safely back to the car rental area. When we got back to return the car, they told us they would charge us $ 5.75/gallon for gas or we would have to drive the car with an almost flat tire back out for gas. They were willing to put their customers’ lives in danger and when we told them that the SUPERVISOR’s response was, «so just one of you go.» He did not care at all or was he concerned about putting our lives at risk. They are the absolute worst rental car company with the worst customer service! I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well and I would recommend that all who wrote a negative review for this rental car company do the same.

I returned my rental car to Fox yesterday afternoon. When booking the reservation, I believed I booked a return time of 5:00 pm. However I did not double check the contract when I picked up the car (my bad). When I returned the car at 5:30 pm, I discover the return time was 10:00 am. For this late return I am charged $ 120!!!
The fees were justified as such: $ 46.57 (full day rate for car) + $ 17.00 (full day of Loss Damage Waiver) + $ 25.00 (Late Fee) + $ 31.43 in miscellaneous fees and taxes that were calculated on the previous.
I understand some fees but really — Late Fee PLUS a full day rate! And then, tax on all of it?!
When I challenged the guys at the desk, they (Nick and David) claimed there was nothing they could do and claimed it was the way the system was set up.
I will never rent from Fox again!

Refused to rent to me when I’ve been renting there for years stating my credit wasn’t good enough. Nothing has changed, and my credit is the same as previous times. I was so embarrassed. it was a horrible experience.

Beware before signing the agreement!
I had the worst experience with this company and not even able to get my refund back. I told the representative multiple times that we did not want the pre-​paid fuel and the insurance coverage, but somehow the lady sneaked it in there, and of course when u r excited taking off on your trip, the darn agreement signed without having us being aware that the pre-​paid fuel & insurance charges were added in there. The representative of course only pointing at the deposits amount and that we were supposed to get it all back once the car returned, and that we will only be paying for the original price that the car was reserved .
Of course when the car was returned, we were charge with $ 160+ additional to what we were supposed to get from our conditional deposit.
When disputing the amount, they only able to credit back the pre-​paid fuel because we filled up the tank prior to returning. Other then that, we were charge over $ 100+ for the darn insurance coverage, of which we didn’t want. C“mom! What makes you think that we will need your insurance when I have my own ?
So just be very careful to the spreadsheet of the car rental agreement and make sure u take out your phone to do the math before signing it. And make sure the deposited amount matches to what you supposed to get at the end. Don’t get trick by the overly friendly representative that distract u from signing your $ away.

The reserved vehicle wasn’t available when I arrived at the location. Clueless customer service and dishonest management.
The agreement says — if reserved vehicle isn’t available, then an alternative may be offered. The problem is reserved vehicle sits 7 and offered vehicle sits 2. That is correct. This is like offering a shoe size 8, if they don’t have ur actual shoe size 11.

Worst experience ever. Mind you, I’m a returning customer and have been for years now. Nobody wants to really help you out when you have a problem. They just send you off to the next person until finally you get on the phone with customer service that doesn’t care if you get angry because it’s over the phone anyway.
I came in with my rental reserved online. The lady convinced me to get the full tank of gas because it was cheaper than outside. She told me that it would be worth it if I drove it down to anything less than a quarter tank. She also asked me about insurance which I clearly said «No, I’m paying with my credit card and they provide insurance». She prints out the papers and says, «initial and sign here». So I do. Well, she messed up my charges. And if you try to read the bill, you have no idea what you’re paying for. The amount paid is listed as «deposits» so of course, you’re just going to think the difference in what you expect to pay is the deposit. Well read carefully. Everything has abbreviations on the statement so you’ll have to ask about each and every billing line. When I finally get charged on my credit card statement is when I realize it’s no where what was agreed upon on my reservation online and it wasn’t just a «deposit»
I drive to the airport early to dispute the charges. The man taking in my car tells me that the people downstairs can help me. I go to them, and they write some comments in my profile and tell me that they will help me if I call customer service and will get refunded. Of course, when I call them they don’t refund me. And she’s not really friendly either. It’s like they know they always get customers like this and that’s how they do business. They only care about money, not customers. They said bc I signed they can’t refund me in full. I’m sure they could if they wanted to but I guess that they don’t care about customers.
It’s part my fault for not understanding all the charges and not asking but their representatives can go over them with me too, you know? Instead of rushing me through the questions and forms to get the next customer helped.
Let me list the fees/​taxes here before you purchase your rental so that you know exactly what you’re paying when you’re making your decision online. I recommend choosing another company that is upfront with you about their charges and care about providing legit service.
-$ 7.50/day CFC fee (not sure what this is)
-$ 17/​day LDW fee (I thought this was a deposit)
–3.5% CA tourism fee (even though you’re from Cali)
–11% San conc. charge?
–8% CA tax
If they’re willing to lose my business over $ 50 dollars, then I guess it is what it is but it seems stupid to me since I used to come to them every year.

Just awful customer service. Even worse lot attendants. I’ll spare you the long story about waiting for 45 minutes just to be told I’d have to wait another 30 to get my rental. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

First of all: Amazing value! Through
we got this car for $ 98 (U.S) after taxes and fees for an 8-​day rental! Friday to Friday!
The shuttle from the airport was quick and awesome! We waited for maybe 2 minutes before getting picked up and quickly brought to the rental office. Getting through the initial check-​in was to be expected: a bit of «up-​selling» to try and get me into something bigger/​better with all the insurance, pre-​paid gas and everything — sticking to my initial reservation and all wasn’t too hard. They did their job but didn’t really push to hard. The whole process was quick and we were in our car within less than 10 minutes.
The car itself was simply ok. Nothing fancy, but I didn’t expect anything more. Simple and economical. There were quite a few scratches/​scuffs on the car but all were easily noted and away we went. The interior was clean and cigarette-​free and the car drove perfect.
Here’s where my expectations were exceeded:
I had left my set of house keys in the car attached to the rental keys. the keys are replaceable but I had a sentimental attachment to the keychain — silly enough. I realized after I got home the next day to Canada. I called immediately (note it was a Saturday) and had to leave a message with their «lost/​found» helpline. I figured I was S.O.L. at this point.
My call was promptly returned by a gentleman named Gama. I explained what had happened and he was empathetic and action oriented. He had located my keys (still in the car and with another customer), Sent a driver to go pick them up and brought back to the office so that a friend of mine could pick them up. I was blown away by his customer-​focus and how action-​oriented he was. He was so friendly and helpful. In a world of lost customer service, this was such a relief! My keys are safe and sound and I’m a fan of Fox Rentals! As simple as it was, with my lost keys — valuable to nobody but me, Thanks to Gama for going above and beyond to deliver a great customer service experience!
The car itself is a 3 – 4 star experience, but the Customer service I received gets a 5 star rating from me!

I am renting from them for the weekend and waking in there was a line but 4 people helping at the desk. I paid online needed to confirm the payment with my car and DL it was fast and easy.
The car isn’t as clean as I am use to but it’s a the car the I need for the price that I got.
They are picking about pick up but that is the point. But that is the point they want there cars back to fulfill other rentals.
The tire were is great shape, my car has been used and rented, but it will work great for the weekend I am sure of it!

The worse service and cars are not in good condition. I was here for about an hour… 50 minutes was just outside waiting and when I finally got my car they said the car is sold for delivery. I highly do not recommend this place to rent a car from.

This location is horribly run. I’ve been waiting for a shuttle for 25 minutes that hasn’t come, but I’ve seen three shuttles for each of their competitors. I called multiple times and waited on hold for no one to pickup. Ultimately, I had to take Aladin Parking’s reliable shuttle and walk across the street to Fox. Maybe Fox is so slack with their shuttle because another nearby company’s shuttle is so good. Additionally, the cars are often not very clean. This is a very poorly ran rental car company. The plus is that they normally have cheaper rentals. I guess the old saying is true… You get what you pay for.

After these reviews, I was so hesitant to commit to my rental. But due to shallow pockets after the holidays, I took the gamble. I’m glad I did. I had a great experience from the time I checked in, to the time I returned the vehicle. Everything went smoothly and I saved a good amount of dinero.
My only gripe is that my car should have had an alignment before being rented out.

Avoid at all costs!
While I have used Fox in the past for a quick rental, this was the first time I reached out to Fox for a week-​long car while I am here visiting family in San Diego for the holiday. I just dropped my car off and am sitting at the airport reflecting on my decision to choose Fox.
After the shuttle arrived to pick me up (30 min late vs. the advertised 10 minutes), the service representative offered me an upgraded car, a Mustang. All the economy cars were taken so I had no choice. Since it was pouring rain outside the Fox rep marked the car for me as a proper inspection could not be made.
I drove the 45 miles home without incident, but in the morning I noticed that the rear tires were bald, and the left rear tire had a hole deep enough to see the metal. I could have suffered a blow-​out on the freeway, in the rain, on my drive home. Fox put me in an unsafe car.
I contacted Fox and was instructed to drive the car to a Firestone location so they could examine the tires and replace them. So, on the first day of my holiday with my family I drive the unsafe car 25 minutes to the nearest Firestone and wait 3 hours while the service men decide that the car needs new tires and has suffered a bent axle. They recommend I do not drive the car home. Since I have no other transportation I must drive home.
Fox contacts me and states that a replacement vehicle will be delivered to my home in about 3 hours. So, I wait at home for the replacement car to arrive. It arrives as expected at 9pm and I accept delivery. The tires on the replacement vehicle are better, but still in the yellow. Total time wasted on my holiday: 8hrs. Risking my life, priceless.

I don’t understand all the bad reviews. This is probably our 5^th or 6^th time going wth Fox and it’s been nothing but simple, easy, and convenient. As long as you got your sh*t together, and do the extra form online, it’s as easy as it gets. Great prices too!

If I could give them zero star’s I give it to this people. Three weeks after I had rented a car I got accused of denting a car and a bill off over at thousand dollars Sadly it was not me. When I check the checkout slip is not my signature neither my name and has the wrong date. No one walk the car before we left the parking lot therefore there’s no check out slip and now there are accusing me of damage it the car. this is ridiculous please stay away from this place!!!

I’ll preface this review based on returning my vehicle to this facility only. We arrived around 5:30 AM and was in and out within 5 minutes. The attendant scanned the car, gave us a receipt (no additional charges than what I was anticipating) and the shuttle was right there. The shuttle is a lot nicer than the one in LAX.
I was skeptical about renting from here, but had a good experience that I would rent again from here based on the value versus other car rental companies. You should keep in mind that you may have slightly longer lines when dealing with a budget company.

I have a strong rental history with Fox Rent A Car and have rented over 20 vehicles over the past two years always without incident and with good customer service until today. I was denied service by a manager named David, (I will not be sharing his last name for privacy reasons) and was treated very poorly, to be quite honest I doubt that David was really the manager because he sure didn’t act like one. My fiancé and I were treated like we were discriminated against and I am surprised that this would happen at the same location that I have always rented. Like I said in the beginning of this email, I have a strong rental history with you guys and to find out that every time I rent a car I have to have a credit check done on my credit is quite frankly ridiculous. Doing this every single time I give you my business is essentially ruining my credit and today you’ve finally done it. Not only did your employer David give us the worst customer service in my history with renting vehicles ever, but now my credit is even more affected than ever before. The amount of business you’re losing with me alone is very significant not only because of the amount of vehicles I would have rented with you in the future but also because of the potential for referrals that I have. I will never speak positively of Fox Rent A Car ever again. And you longer will see my business.

I recently had a very positive rental car experience with Fox Rent A Car — San Diego. I did some price shopping — and was able to get a great deal through my Rapid Rewards program with Southwest Airlines — $ 270 for a week in a Mustang Convertible.
The counter agent at pick-​up was very friendly (she also works in a prison) and was quick and efficient. The car was clean and ready — and had nice features; so I was happy with that. The return was easy — and the airport shuttle was great to and from San Diego International Airport.
I’d rent here again — if the price and car selection continue to be top notch.

Waited in line forever and then when we finally got to speak with someone they lied to us about the size of car we needed for a drive up the coast. Basically, they swindled us to get a bigger car and said it was only $ 11 more — only to find out it was $ 11 per day. They also told us that our phones would stop working at some point along the way due to poor service and we needed GPS — an extra $ 50 added to our bill. I will never use Fox Rent A Car again. Awful service. I have tried to call them several times to discuss the charges and have been on hold around 30 mins per call. They scam you big time.
We went through Expedia and were estimated paying $ 200 and ended up paying $ 500 when the whole ordeal was over.

DO NOT GO HERE! They have really shady business practices. I signed up for the most economical car rental since I am traveling solo and didn’t need anything fancy. I dealt with Donna who ended up adding things to my account without telling me. When I checked out, she said for me to go out and they will pick a car for me. The attendant outside gave me a «free» upgrade to a Mustang.
When I dropped off the car, I noticed an extra $ 77+ «upsell» on my receipt. They put it on the bottom of the receipt so you don’t notice it much. The original price that you signed up for is above this. They told me to go back in to get it fixed. Conveniently for them, I had to wait 15 minutes to talk to the manager (UM I have to catch a flight so I couldn’t wait), which is their tactic to just steal your money. The attendant said he’d «call or text» to let me know of the credit. What a bunch of shady assholes. As a business owner, I am baffled that people run their businesses like this, and their employees are okay with using these business practices.
Go to Sixt down the street. They are cheaper anyway, and more transparent.

Come here if you like to save $ 5 – 10 per day and want to wait in lines for an hour. Prepaid my reservation but they provide the speed of vodka fueled turtles with broken legs…

The worst, least professional car rental experience I’ve ever had, charged 4x what was on the website, customer service didn’t answer their phone, car was damaged and water spotted. waits were ridiculous.
I’ve been using Fox for years, I’m done. Premium car was a dented Charger with no Bluetooth and 30K miles.

I rented a cute little Toyota Prius hybrid and it was new, clean and efficient.
They allowed use of a debit card with a $ 150 hold which is low!
I did encounter a problem with billing which was quickly resolved via Facebook Fox social media.
So for the price and overall experience I recommend Fox!

This place is a joke. You get there and right away they are scheming a way to get more money from you. When checking in they offer high, low, or minimum insurance coverage. No where do they say no coverage is an option. It’s just a way to scheme. Beware if you’re renting from there.
We were an hour early to pick up our car. They said we would be charged an extra $ 53 plus a $ 20 fee for being early or subsequently late upon return.
Finally we got the car. It was missing the antenna and had a really bad smell inside. There was also a brown liquid strewn all across the inside of the vehicle. So… Basically no radio the entire rental.
Upon returning the car we had to wait in line to get a receipt. There was a huge line to pick up cars and no one was helping. Someone complained and got the manager but he was WORTHLESS. He walked around on his phone trying to find more employees. Someone suggested all the people outside but evidently none of them knew how to use a computer.
We waiting for half an hour and it was finally our turn. We were overcharged because of the hour and their racket.
The employees are all rude and it’s poorly managed.
Please, I beg you, get your car from somewhere else. This will be a bad start and end to your trip to San Diego

Everything is ghetto about this place. Pretty sure was an old strip club at one point.
Customer service is shady and little bit on a power trip — really no explanations about certain charges except the attitude of «that’s just what it is».
Stay away. Find somewhere else with a reputable status.
